I remember back in school, I used to sneakily read novels during class. I’ve lost count of how many times my parents were called in. Every time, my homeroom teacher would point a finger in my face and ask, "You spend all day reading this stuff. Are you going to make a living off it in the future?"

I never imagined I’d actually be trying to make a living by writing books now. Haha, I guess some things in life are just fated to be!

The book *Divine Emperor of the Firmament* was first uploaded on September 26, 2016. I wrote 200,000 characters, but then I realized its performance was poor. I asked my editor to take a look, and they pointed out many shortcomings. Little Tian thought about it for a day and a night, then deleted those 200,000 characters. I started over from scratch, not re-uploading until November 19, and I’ve been grinding away until today, April 30. All in all, I’ve been writing for over half a year. During these six-plus months of free Chapters, Little Tian feels his update speed really hasn’t been bad—in March and April alone, I released 600,000 characters. That’s because Little Tian remembers the pain of being looked down on, and I remember my original resolve: I must write a successful book. Fortunately, *Divine Emperor of the Firmament*’s performance is pretty good so far, with around 200,000 collections on the platform.

But results like that don’t prove anything!

Because when it comes to writing novels, the most important thing is still subscriptions.

Speaking of subscriptions, many of you might start cussing me out. "Has Heavenly Emperor gone crazy for money? He wants money for this trashy book?" To that, I can only say, I really am that desperate. Over the past six-plus months, I’ve written over a million characters, and my total income has been 1,400 yuan—all from tips from my dear readers. It’s thanks to everyone’s support for Little Tian that I even made that much. But on average, that’s only about 200 yuan a month. That’s not even enough to cover my electricity bill.

For 1,000 characters, it takes Little Tian half an hour on a good day, and an hour or even two to three hours on a bad day. Writing five Chapters a day can easily take up my entire day with outlining and writing. I’m afraid if I keep sitting like this, Little Tian is going to get hemorrhoids. And yet, for all this hard work, updating several Chapters a day might only earn me a few pennies! Based on five Chapters a day, for all of you, it’s probably the cost of a pack of spicy snacks. But for Little Tian, it’s the wellspring of motivation that allows me to keep creating.
