Chapter 85: Preparing for the Concert

After showering and packing up at night, Xue Yu plopped down on his bed and called Yun Xiangxiang, “I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning and we’ll rehearse the songs we are going to sing during the concert. I know you’ll be going overseas for the break, so we can only hurry up during the weekends.”

“I happen to have nothing on my schedule,” Yun Xiangxiang was just about to call Xue Yu to ask him herself. She wouldn’t have time after this week. Nor did she know how long the delay would be during the break.

“Relax, there’s not much to do. Two days is enough,” Xue Yu was experienced with these matters.

“Oh yeah. Senior, can I have a few tickets for the concert?” Yun Xiangxiang still remembered her promise to Song Meng.

“How many do you need?” Xue Yu was already planning to prepare some for Yun Xiangxiang so that she could bring some friends over

“I’ll ask my roommates to see who has time to go. When will your concert be, senior?” Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t holding back.

“October 17th. Happens to be on a Saturday.”

“Okay. I’ll ask them first. I’ll text you after everything is clear.”

Yun Xiangxiang went into their chat group after she hung up. Zhu Yuan and Chu Ting were also in there

[Yun Xiangxiang: October 17th is my senior’s concert. I’ll be going there as a special guest. Anyone want tickets?]

[Ma Linlin: Ah…! Almighty Xue is my idol. Please, please, please give me a ticket!]

[Tao Manni: I haven’t been to a concert before. And the tickets for Almighty Xue’s concerts are expensive, not to mention hard to get. I love you so much, Xiangxiang.]

[Zhu Yuan: Oh, it’s a Saturday. I’m so excited. I haven’t been to a concert before either. I wanna go too.]

The others said they wanted to go too. Yun Xiangxiang promptly asked for nine tickets from Xue Yu.

Five from her class; Song Meng and Li Xiangling; she planned to take Yun Lin together; either Song Qian or Ai Li would follow her to the venue. She needed a ticket for that.

Xue Yu generously expressed that he was already preparing it for her.

Chu Ting private messaged Yun Xiangxiang at this moment: [Xiangxiang, can I buy two tickets? They are sold out online. I want to bring a couple of people with me.]

Yun Xiangxiang asked Xue Yu, to which he replied that he could prepare another two tickets. Yun Xiangxiang answered Chu Ting. She didn’t take her money.

Xue Yu had mentioned that these tickets were already extras that were meant to be as gifts. He also had thirty more for his fans on Weibo.

Yun Xiangxiang’s phone vibrated just when she was about to power it off and go to sleep. It was the phone given by Song Mian. Yun Xiangxiang picked it up and accepted the call.

“Were you sleeping?” Song Mian asked softly.

“Not yet,” Yun Xiangxiang’s voice was energetic and without languor. She was only used to sleeping early. It was only nine thirty now.

“When do you plan to see me?”

Yun Xiangxiang pondered for a while, “I need to go for practice this weekend, so that’s out. I’ll have to go to New York next week…”

“That’s a coincidence. I’ll be attending to some matters there too. So I’ll wait for you in New York. We’ll meet there when you’re free. If not, we can take a raincheck,” Song Mian was being very considerate.

“Okay,” Yun Xiangxiang agreed.

Both of them chatted for ten more minutes before they hung up on each other. Yun Xiangxiang put her phone aside before drifting off to sleep.

Xue Yu drove to the neighborhood at around 8:30 after he had breakfast. Yun Xiangxiang brought Coco and Ai Li along, while Song Qian was left to accompany Yun Lin at home. She didn’t need to worry about lunch. She had Wang Yong with her.

Xue Yu’s studio was enormous. It took up a hundred square meters of space with all kinds of instruments available. A dance studio was connected at the side. Yun Xiangxiang was revealed to Xue Yu’s team for the first time here. He had to support a team that was two times larger than hers.

However, since she had Ai Li and Song Qian, the remuneration she had to pay would be higher than his in the future; even if it was still lower now.

Xue Yu had Yun Xiangxiang sing “Black Swan’s Poem” once they were in the recording studio. He corrected her tone and advised her before she practiced again.

They then sang together to experiment with the effect. Xue Yu recorded Yun Xiangxiang’s part that was adjusted to send to her. She was free to voice any opinions she had.

Yun Xiangxiang’s mouth was parched after hours of practice. Good thing she had some lozenges. She gave one to Xue Yu, “Lozenges are great for dry throats.”

Xue Yu didn’t really like candy initially. He popped one into his mouth upon hearing that. His eyes shone unexpectedly after eating it, “Where did you get these lozenges?”

“My friend made it. It’s not for sale,” Yun Xiangxiang said awkwardly.

“Can you ask him to make some for me?” This thing was an absolute must have for singers like him!

“It’s not really convenient…” Yun Xiangxiang said sheepishly. “I do have a small can left from my military training though. Since I don’t have to train my vocal cord on most days, I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”

“Looks like doting on you paid off. I’ll keep it for future concerts. Do remember about your senior if you have more of it,” Xue Yu accepted it gladly.

Both of them continued their practice after lunch. They managed to work together seamlessly after practicing together for a day. Xue Yu sent Yun Xiangxiang home after he treated her to dinner, “Remember about my lozenges.”

“Relax, I won’t forget about it,” Yun Xiangxiang went into her home after she closed the car’s door.

She stuffed the lozenges into a glass container after she got home. A handful of it couldn’t be squeezed into the container since it was already full. She kept some for herself and gave the rest to Yun Lin, “These are lozenges. Take it if your throat’s acting up. Don’t gobble it up if nothing’s wrong with you.”

It was mainly because that was all of the lozenges. It could also clear the lungs if taken regularly. However, it was still cold in nature. Being greedy about it wouldn’t bode well.

Yun Xiangxiang also reminded Xue Yu about the same thing when she gave him the glass container.

“Relax, I know the right time to use this awesome stuff,” Xue Yu wasn’t someone who was really fond of candy. “Xiangxiang, do you know how to do a ballet dance?”

“Not really great at it,” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t study ballet before.

However, she did take some lessons in her previous life. But she was too late in learning it, so she only posed for the filming of TV dramas. It was impossible to dance gracefully.

“Try it out,” Xue Yu went to take a pair of pointe shoes. “I had them prepared according to your size. What I mean is that the best thing would be you being able to dance and sing at the same time when you’re onstage with me.”

Yun Xiangxiang knew that Xue Yu was going all out to give publicity to her. He was trying to build up momentum for her. To that end, he carefully carved out his thoughts.

Naturally she must not disappoint him. She changed into a leotard and pointe shoes while tying her hair up into a bun. She recalled the basics that she knew in her past life. Her moves were choppy at first, but it slowly became smoother. Yun Xiangxiang’s body became more flexible, and her balance rose too.

“That’s not bad. You’re so humble,” Xue Yu wasn’t looking for a professional. Yun Xiangxiang’s performance was more than enough. “We’ll start practicing the moves now. Follow the tempo and the melody. We’ll go to the sports center in the morning of the concert day for some practice.”

“I’ll follow your orders,” Yun Xiangxiang gave complete cooperation.

“I like your obedience,” Xue Yu didn’t have any siblings. His parents died when he was little. He was raised by his grandparents. He really thought of Yun Xiangxiang as his little sister.

He instructed her seriously. Yun Xiangxiang also concentrated her efforts into practice. She planned to take some time to revise and strengthen her moves when she went home so that she wouldn’t be dead weight during the concert.
