Chapter 152: Negotiation

Sylvara had done her rotation to three other kingdoms, and the kingdom of Ursula, a kingdom of medium strength in the southern region of the world of Arleria, was next.

As usual, she carried out the summoning process perfectly, and the destined heroes were summoned by her into the kingdom of Ursula.....

But something went wrong.

One of the heroes, instead of awakening the divine skill of spirit, he instead awakened the divine skill of item box.

Not only does this not bode well for the kingdom....

But from her highly coveted knowledge, the appearance of an item box hero in any generation of hero summoning was a bad omen for the world itself for that generation.

But then, something interesting happened.

This hero spoke to her.

Of course, there was nothing special about speaking to her; what caught her off guard was how she felt listening to him, and looking into those eyes of his.

For a second, Sylvara felt herself falling into his pull....

This strange, new foreigner from another world was peeling off layers she never realized she had on....

But the voices in her mind fought back fiercely... and warned her that this person was not ordinary.

But that was not the most shocking part....

Since this person’s strange ability had forced the voices in her head to go on the defensive..... They had gone completely silent.

Sylvara was experiencing the first real period of mental peace in two years, right after having that experience with the item box hero.

After a few days of secluding herself in the palace and enjoying this peace and the joys of life....

She began to think and came to the conclusion that it was that person’s special skill, most probably, that made this possible.

Because of the previous warnings from such powerful beings in her head, Sylvara was a little worried about confronting this person again.

But with time, she began to notice that the voices were starting to return.

Not wanting to live that way anymore, Sylvara began to research this supposedly weak hero of item box.

She was surprised to find from the king that he had the ’seer’ special skill, and since she had inherited the oracle special skill, the supreme special skill that connects one to the will of the goddess Arleria, she could instantly confirm that this hero of item box was lying about this fact.

Sylvara had also met two other seers, one in the Holy Sea and another in a neighboring kingdom, and as far as she is aware, those were the only two present on the world of Arleria at the moment, since their existences are almost as special as the saintess.

She resonated with them instantly on both occasions. Like an instinctual radar of similar sources....

And Caleb Cole, definitely was not a ’seer’.

So, why would he lie about this?

Sylvara thought deeply and concluded that he would indeed lie if he were trying to provide a justifiable proof for knowing what he does about all that happened with Victor Malverin....

So, what does that mean.... It means he was guilty of something.

Sylvara was taught that only guilty people lie.

She, of course, had no intention of reporting any of this to the royal family and risk offending someone who holds a solution to her predicament.

She wanted to start a negotiation with him, and negotiations are started from a place of strength, having something on your opponent.

She would hint at what she knows.... Which wasn’t much.... and at the fact that she had kept it quiet. Letting him understand she was on his side, and therefore feel indebted to help her.

Sylvara, knowing her separation with the heroes was imminent, and the next time they would meet was in three months when she returns for the heroes’ summit, had to quickly make her move before it’s too late... and see if the hero can perform the miracle once again.....

Or if it’s just a one-time thing. She would, of course, be using her leverage to make the transaction balanced.

At least, that’s the way it was supposed to go....

Instead, she was currently asking for a favor, having lost the use of her leverage.

"Can you please do it again?"

Heheheh....

Zorat observed Sylvara with a gentle smile on his face.

Now that the situation had turned, she was making a request, so he too could make his....

It was only the fair thing to do after all.

Nothing goes for nothing. He was sure the saintess understood that too... that’s why she was attempting to go that route prior.

He, in fact, already knew why she would be needing him to influence her mind again.

Whatever voices she desired to be silenced..... He must have already proven the first time he used his influence on her that he could quiet those voices....

But it appears to be temporary. Which was simply perfect for Zorat, since a repeating customer was better than a one-time customer.

"I could..... But it takes a lot of my mana..." Zorat said to Sylvara, looking really thoughtful.

"You don’t expect me to do it for free, do you?

"Of course, not...." Sylvara responded knowingly.

"What would you like in exchange, Caleb Cole?

Hehehe.....

"Hmmm... I am not really sure....maybe tell me everything there is to know about the Holy Sea?. I am just a little curious, that’s all."

"Sorry.... but that’s not possible."

"I can’t ’physically’ say anything concerning that," Sylvarra said, hinting meaningfully as she spoke.

Ah.... I see. Bound by an oath.... Well....that complicates things a little...

Isn’t she useless to me now?

Zorat pondered as he observed the gorgeous young lady.

He already had a lot of information about the heroes and their existence in this world..... He needed some information on the Holy Sea.

Ah... that’s right.

"Saintess...."

"Call me Sylvara, please, Caleb."

"Alright, Sylvara... "

"Since you can’t speak on that part.... Can you tell me more about the hero’s divine skills.... And what exactly happened to all the previous ’blessed’ heroes?"
