High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 2591 - 812: The Risks of Rumors
Monday night.
Zheng Qing finished his Time Conversion class and dragged his exhausted body back to the dormitory.
He had just visited the teaching assistant’s office to pick up a batch of new fish skin paper and talisman boards, which were necessary materials for completing this week’s ’Small Hands Task’. Next, before going to sleep, he still needed to convert for another three hours to complete today’s task of etching rune paper.
Including the two classes during the day, Zheng Qing had to convert for nine hours every day.
In other words, he lived nine hours more than others each day.
It sounded like a good thing.
But Zheng Qing found it hard to describe this state as either good or bad.
He could only confirm this: the longer he lived, the harder it was, and this way of living was also self-imposed. With this semi-masochistic mentality, he pushed open the dormitory door and was immediately overwhelmed by a gigantic figure that almost covered the ceiling.
It was as if he had collided head-on with a speeding tank.
"You actually went and got a Mare?"
Xin Fat Man roared with a complex expression, grabbing Zheng Qing’s shoulders and almost shaking him apart: "Such a big thing, you should have told me as soon as you got back yesterday..."
"He didn’t come back to the dormitory last night." Xiao Xiao’s head poked out from behind the Fat Wizard, adjusting his glasses while staring intently at the just-arrived Warlock.
"Oh, right."
The excitement on Xin Fat Man’s face subsided a little, but he immediately started shaking Zheng Qing’s shoulders again: "So, who’s next? Are you aiming for another species? A Ghost? A Little Mermaid? Remember when we talked about a Zombie Mermaid? Are you planning to have a fluffy Mermaid next?"
"If you don’t mind, I can introduce you to that Zombie Bride my family suggested for me." Dylan’s head poked out from the other side behind Xin Fat Man, looking at Zheng Qing eagerly.
Zheng Qing was bewildered.
He felt like his brain was about to be shaken out of his ears by the Fat Man.
His mind was still trying to catch up from the cryptic spell formula in the ’Yin Fu Studies’ class and the fish skin paper and talisman board for the Small Hands Task earlier that evening, so he instantly froze under the barrage of information from his roommates.
"What? Wait, slow down, I don’t understand?"
He struggled to free himself from the Fat Wizard’s grip, stepped back two steps, placed the bronze book in front of his chest, rubbed his shoulder while clutching his ear, and scrunched up his face: "What Zombie Bride... Where did the fluffy Mermaid come from?"
"Shanglin Garden Spring Hunt! Underage Mare!"
Xin Fat Man firmly believed Zheng Qing was deliberately hiding something, so he made a severe gesture and answered Zheng Qing’s query with two strong short phrases, while also slightly softening his tone to avoid scaring Zheng Qing: "...But don’t worry, currently this news is only spreading in a small circle... Neither the campus newspaper nor the Beta Town Post would ever expose your dealings with the young Huizong Tribe girl because they need to consider racial sentiments."
By now he wasn’t using the term ’Mare’ anymore.
Hearing the words ’Huizong’, Zheng Qing finally snapped back to reality. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"What are you talking about!"
The Warlock felt a bitter taste in his mouth and shook his head vigorously, refusing to admit: "...Where did you hear these strange and bizarre rumors?"
"Never mind where I heard it from."
The Fat Man sneered, seemingly worried that Zheng Qing might escape, took a step forward, and pressed his hand against the dormitory door: "I just want to ask you... Is it true that the little Huizong girl wants to have a foal with you in Shanglin Garden?"
Zheng Qing slipped through his armpit like an eel, finally feeling he could breathe.
"That’s not true."
He denied it firmly, answering dryly while quickly scanning the room, his gaze finally landing on Dylan: "Why are you still in the dormitory? Shouldn’t you be in class at this time?"
Mister Blood Werewolf casually fiddled with the obsidian cufflinks on his sleeves.
"I was supposed to go, but when I heard you were having a foal with a Huizong... I thought it’d be okay to skip a class or two occasionally." He grinned, exposing two stark white little fangs: "After all, it’s cross-cultural exchange, and I thought you might need some of the experience accumulated by our family."
"Stop changing the topic!" The Fat Man’s large palm once again landed on Zheng Qing’s shoulder, his tone solemn: "I’ll ask you once more, did the Huizong girl say she wanted to have a foal with you?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about." Zheng Qing refused to admit it, while twisting his shoulder—he felt like something was poking him under the Fat Man’s hand.
"A lie!"
The Fat Man looked like he had caught prey, removing the hand pressing on Zheng Qing’s shoulder to reveal a piece of jade with a dim red glow remaining, proudly displaying it to everyone.
Zheng Qing recognized it as a ’Guigui of Truth’ and immediately turned ashen.
The Guigui of Truth is also known as the True Word Stone. In its normal state, it looks like a regular white jade stone, but it is imbued with a very powerful True Word Spell. When in contact with a wizard, if they lie, the jade turns red.
Just like the color of the stone in the Fat Man’s palm now.
"If you tell us now, we can still think of ways to deal with the rumors that might spread by tomorrow." Xiao Xiao played the role of Red Face, sincerely advising from the other side: "If you don’t tell us, how can we help you, right? Of course, if you’re confident you can deny it in front of outsiders, then pretend we never asked!"
Zheng Qing let out a heavy sigh.
"Luna did say something like that." He reluctantly admitted a certain fact.
"Luna? Is that her name? The lady from the Huizong Tribe?" Xin Fat Man, deflating like a punctured balloon, shrunk down, holding a small notebook and feather pen in excitement, staring at Zheng Qing: "What else did you two talk about? Dowry? Betrothal gifts? The Huizong Tribe practices walking marriages, she might just want a child!"
"We didn’t talk about those strange issues; I directly rejected the suggestion." Maybe to increase persuasion, Zheng Qing emphasized: "Jiang Yu was right next to us, she can testify! ... Don’t you think her request was very rude?"
The three companions collectively ignored Zheng Qing’s last question.
"Jiang Yu was also there?" Xiao Xiao couldn’t help but adjust his glasses again.
"As expected from Mr. Zha!" The Fat Wizard sighed with emotion, his feather pen flying over the page, though it was unclear what inspiration Zheng Qing’s answer stirred in him.
"Weren’t you killed on the spot? How are you still alive?" Dylan couldn’t help but poke Zheng Qing’s shoulder with his finger, seemingly wanting to confirm whether the Warlock in front of him was a ghost.
"Bug off!"
Zheng Qing grumpily pushed away the few guys in front of him, taking the steaming towel and toothbrush from the Sprites, and before entering the washroom, he seemed to remember something, turning back to warn Xin Fat Man: "Don’t you dare tell your Senior Linda about this!"
