His Beloved Treasure
Chapter 1897 - 545: President Mu’s Unconventional Counterattack
Mu Yichen’s elegant fingers held the wine glass as he drank slowly, responding with a good-natured smile after hearing what Xiaomei said.
It seemed as though he had truly forgotten, but this provoked displeasure from the people present.
Nevertheless, he kept smiling, one hand holding the wine glass and the other resting on the back of Qin Mu’s chair.
Qin Mu remained quiet throughout, but that didn’t mean she had forgotten their first encounter in the country.
Reflecting on that moment now, Qin Mu realized that it was actually her who entangled herself with him, not the other way around.
In fact, countless meetings with him would lead her to unconsciously get involved, mistakenly thinking she was cold and rational enough — looking back, her thoughts at that time were juvenile and laughable.
"How about Mu Yichen tells us, when did he start liking our Sister Qinqin?"
Xiaomei rubbed her hands, her curiosity suddenly overflowing as she asked.
Mu Yichen glanced at Qin Mu, and Qin Mu instinctively looked at him too; feeling guilty, she quickly lowered her gaze and lightly pinched Xiaomei’s waist.
"Ah! Sister Qinqin, you’re pinching me! Are you worried that Mu Yichen might be shy? Then tell us, when did Mu Yichen kiss you for the first time?"
Xiaomei wasn’t angry from being pinched; instead, she got even more excited.
Mu Yichen suddenly chuckled, recalling that year, eager to see how Qin Mu would respond as everyone eagerly awaited.
"Why do you have so many questions? Matters between us as a couple shouldn’t be shared with you."
Qin Mu glared at her, unfiltered in her retort.
Xiaomei immediately clenched her hands and brought them to her mouth, her large dark eyes feigned fear as she looked around, causing everyone to laugh and urge, "Qin Mu, tell us! We’ve worked together for years, yet we know so little about your relationship!"
Mu Yichen squinted at Qin Mu, suddenly interested, as he sipped his drink again.
Qin Mu felt uneasy under his rebellious gaze and unintentionally turned to look at him; Mu Yichen was caught off guard but managed a softer smile, as if he were a gentleman.
His beautiful brows arched slightly, and Qin Mu smiled back at him.
Mu Yichen saw the provocation in her eyes and then glanced over at her colleagues, gently setting his wine glass on the table’s edge and naturally took her hand, playing with it lightly.
"Well, between me and your Sister Qin Qin..."
"No!"
Just as he was about to reveal something openly, Qin Mu raised her hand to cover his mouth, warning him with her eyes.
Mu Yichen stayed silent, and despite having long been unaccustomed to her intimate gestures, his heart burned, as he stared at her, unable to look away.
"Oh! Qin Qin, you’re being so unreasonable. Let us know a little bit, so we can brag about you both, right?"
Someone immediately voiced dissatisfaction.
"Things between us, no need for you to boast about!"
Qin Mu continued to cover Mu Yichen’s mouth, turning to address everyone.
Later, Mu Yichen watched her bicker with her colleagues while leaving, sitting in his chair like a fool, unwilling to move.
It seemed like fate wanted him to be exhausted by her, and this was misery deliberately inflicted upon him, perhaps?
Except, why was the cost so high? He would rather it be for another reason.
He couldn’t bear her resentment, knowing clearly that if she resented him, she would be equally distressed.
Through many ups and downs over the years, they both hoped their future life would be smooth.
The evening brought light rain, as Qin Mu formally used Mu Yichen’s office to meet with the designers and makeup artists inside, discussing and finalizing matters, ensuring no worries for tomorrow.
That night, Mu Yichen also didn’t return home, instead sitting by the restaurant’s most noticeable window with Zhao Huai, having dinner while waiting for his wife to finish work.
Zhao Huai observed Mu Yichen gazing outside, lost in thought, then sighed.
Mu Yichen turned his head upon hearing the sigh, thoughtfully looking at Zhao Huai.
"I’m alright! I’m sighing for you!"
Zhao Huai replied, seeing Mu Yichen’s puzzlement.
Mu Yichen didn’t respond verbally to Zhao Huai, instead chuckling lightly, turning to look at the lonely rain outside.
Word spread that their meeting had gone well, and dinner was kept simple.
Soon, a staff member came down to bend by his side and said, "Young Master Chen, the young madam and her team are in your office having a meeting; they’ve ordered lots of food and drinks."
"Hmm! Keep providing them whatever they need!"
