Chapter 37: Chapter Thirty-seven

Gemma’s POV

The thing about emotion is that it’s like clay. You can shape it and mold it and will it to be whatever you want. I was feeling too much to help me concentrate. So I moulded my emotion into a little ball and kept it in the back of my mind. I would explore it later. Now, I had to fight.

"Yes we should get on with it. Be sure to protect the little ones in your belly. Would be tragic if anything happened to them." My so called father said with a smirk and I growled. I could feel surprise from the mate bond and even the others couldn’t hide it. Elias indicated for the hunters to attack and we had an army coming at us.

"I’ll explain later!" I screamed to everyone before gathering water and turning them into long sharp shards, tossing them at hunters. Eve raised her hands, calling lightning and sticking some hunters down. Jace shifted, making his fur steel and protecting us from the wolfsbane darts coming at us. Caroline shifted too, covering her wolf’s body in fire and running through the hunters, burning them down one by one. Ash was standing at the side, his eyes had like green lines running down them and I didn’t know what he was up to. Conner shifted into his lycan.

"Gemma you can’t fight! You’re pregnant." He growled at me. I turned to him.

"I’m fighting Conner. I promise I’ll protect our children with my life. I swear." I said. He didn’t like the thought of me dying or me and the children or me dying for the children. He didn’t want to leave us.

"Go Conner. I’ll come back to you." I said and he huffed before running on his lycan legs into the fray. Shadows rushed from the forest behind him, putting down soldiers. An army of androids came from the trees and I was surprised. Turning to Ash, he gave me a wink before shifting and running into battle, the androids behind him. Well then. The elements were all present, maybe except earth, but the battle field was a mess of blood, ash, smoke, light, explosions, shadows, screams and ice. I lost Elias but Natasha the hulk was running towards me at an alarming speed. I sent different ice shards at her but she just dodged them, her pace not slowing.

’We fight.’ Winter said in my head.

’Together.’ I answered her and we were off.

I gathered a ball of water, heating it up, I threw it and it landed in Natasha’s brown skin. She hissed in pain and paused for a second. I run towards her, delivering a flying round house kick to her head. She stumbled to the side and I moved back, raising my fists.

Natasha chuckled. "You die today."

"Sorry mate, I got kids to raise." I said and we battled.

She had gotten faster and stronger over the years. Her blow was mostly aimed at my belly but I managed to protect it no matter what. Natasha punched me across the jaw, dislocating it. Ok, I’m done playing tango. I covered the ground where she stood with water, causing her to sink then I run towards her, grabbing her head and twisting her neck. I froze all the blood in her head then flipped over her body, my back collided with hers and I pulled, breaking her head off her body with a crack.

I dropped her iced head on the ground with a thump.

"Go Gemma!" Eve shouted from where she was shocking some hunters. She brought down a huge lightning bolt that blew them all up.

"Nice Eve!" I shouted.

"I know right! Have you seen the androids! My mate did that! Love you babe!" She shouted at Ash. He yipped in happiness in his wolf form.

"Gemma, get back to the fight, Eve, Ash, Jace and Conner are giving us the eye." I checked and they were.

"Ok ok. I’m going jeez. Anyone know where Elias is?!" I asked.

"Right here." A voice said behind me and I quickly dropped, feeling something pass over my head. When I looked up, I saw a silver sword. When did he get that? I want one too.

I partially shifted, extending my claws and we fought, steel against nail. I used my powers for an advantage but he was weirdly in tune with me. He dodged everything I threw at him and protected himself from my claws. Conner came and barreled into him from no where. He gave me a nod and I nodded back. He would fight him. I was pregnant after all. It was like a card saying I couldn’t have fun. I run into the battle and fought.

"Gemma watch out!" I heard a yell. I turned and watched as the sword my father wielded was flying towards me. Someone jumped in front of me and the sword was hurried into their chest. I looked down and my blood run cold.

"Riley!" I screamed in horror, dropping to my knees beside her. She chocked on her blood as it run down her face and tears gathered in my eyes.

"No, no no no nooo. Please Riley. You have to live. Chase needs you. What the fuck were you thinking?" I cried.

"Riley!" I heard Chase shout and he dropped opposite me, taking Riley into his arms. Tears poured down his face and my heart broke at the sight.

"No Riley. Riley please no. You’re my best friend, my other half, please don’t leave me. Please Riley. Not you too." Chase cried. Conner was supposed to be fighting Elias what happened? Conner! I stood, looking around the fray wildly for Conner. I saw him fighting some hunters but his movements were sluggish. He got hit with wolfsbane.

I saw Elias move close to Conner and bury a sword in his stomach.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" My own scream didn’t register in my ears as I saw Conner’s eyes roll to the back of his head and his body fell to the ground in slow motion.

Everything seemed to stop. Conner’s body fell to the ground with a loud thud of the impact echoing in my mind. I exhaled and icy breath left my lips. Everything seemed to have muted and all I could focus on was the rage that built from the darkest pits of my soul. Most would describe it a a burning inferno but mine was ice cold, spreading outwards, reaching every nerve of my body and filling my mind with nothing but pain.

They say, everyone has their breaking point.

Getting rejected by Chase wasn’t it.

Being tricked by a witch about Conner’s true intentions wasn’t it.

Being betrayed by Jenny wasn’t it.

Coming back here wasn’t it.

Finding out Elias was my father wasn’t it.

Riley sacrificing herself for me wasn’t it.

But out of all the things Elias could do, he hurt Conner. The one person who deserves nothing but the world. The one person who is good to the core. The one person who made me feel complete.

My best friend.

My lover.

My mate.

My damn baby daddy.

So I welcomed the cold, all of it. The earth shook and everyone stumbled except me. I was immovable. Conner helped me see that. He helped me see a lot of things. Like there are people in this world who will stand by you no matter what. Your past doesn’t make you. And most of all, he would never laugh at my jokes if the situation was dire but he still loved me for lightening the mood. At least, I’d like to think that. Anyway back to the battle field.

The earth shook so much, everyone was finding it hard to stay upright except Elias. He couldn’t do that on his own. Must have a spell on him of some sort. He smirked at me and I lost it.

A scream escaped from my mouth as the ground at my feet slit open, letting water from the furthest reaches of the earth come gushing out. My feet rose above the ground and my hair flew around my face in every direction. The dark clouds in the sky released both rain and snow, thunder booming across the land, lighting lighting up the scared faces of the hunters below.

And when I was sure Conner was safe with the others in water domes I created above them, I brought hell.

There was a blizzard and a rainstorm at the same time. I killed the hunters one by one. The only one left was Elias who actually looked scared. I was so angry. I growled the skies above me shaking with my rage.

I boiled his blood. His death was slow and painful, his screams could be heard over the rainstorm and it was music to my ears. When he died, I finally relaxed. The rains stopped and so did the snow storm. The skies cleared and the sun shone bright. The place was covered in water and blood and bodies. I slowly descended to the ground but once my feet hit the earth, I was out like a light.
