How Hard can Losing Money even Be?
Chapter 15: Best Cafe in the world.
Sarah visibly relaxed after hearing his response.
"Honestly, I hesitated at first too," she admitted softly. "But after receiving the investment yesterday... I finally felt like I could breathe a little."
As she spoke, her tired eyes seemed lighter compared to before.
"Before this, I was handling almost everything myself. Cooking, inventory, supplier orders, finances..." She let out a quiet laugh. "Sometimes I only slept three or four hours."
Benny nodded slowly.
That explained the dark circles he noticed yesterday.
Still...
Hiring a ¥30,000 chef immediately after getting investment money?
It was as if the heavens had send down a person fated for him.
Sarah, meanwhile, continued speaking completely sincerely.
"If business improves further, I also want to renovate part of the café later."
Benny’s heartbeat skipped slightly.
Renovation too?
He suddenly felt emotional.
No wonder successful businesses always needed investors.
This spending efficiency was incredible.
Before he could say anything else, a knock suddenly came from outside the office door. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Knock knock.
Sarah immediately looked over. "Come in."
The door opened shortly afterward.
A middle-aged man wearing a clean white chef uniform stepped inside carrying a tray.
The aroma entered the room first.
It was rich, savory and warm, Benny had to instinctively looked over.
On the tray sat a beautifully plated meal alongside a steaming bowl of soup and a fresh drink.
Compared to the giant mountains of food downstairs, this looked noticeably more refined.
The chef placed everything carefully onto the desk.
"Your meal."
Sarah smiled slightly. "Thank you, Chef Lin."
The man nodded politely before quietly leaving the office again.
The moment the door closed, Benny’s eyes immediately locked onto the food.
Then his gaze slowly shifted toward Sarah.
Sarah noticed his strange gaze and looked slightly confused. "...Is something wrong?"
Benny slowly shook his head.
"No."
Then after a brief pause, he added sincerely:
"I suddenly feel very optimistic about the future of this cafe."
Sarah blinked.
Then her face gradually brightened into a smile.
Because in her ears, those words sounded exactly like praise from an investor confident in her business.
Meanwhile, in Benny’s mind:
Keep spending. Please keep spending. You’re doing amazing.
In the end Benny never even opened the financial books.
The thick folders remained neatly stacked on the desk from beginning to end.
Because honestly...
After hearing about the ¥30,000 monthly chef salary, he already understood everything he needed to know.
This cafe was absolutely not doing well financially.
And its future? It was even brighter, especially in the hands of someone as capable as Sarah.
Meanwhile, Sarah had completely misunderstood his behavior.
In her eyes, Benny’s calm attitude toward the finances could only mean one thing:
He trusted her completely.
That realization alone made her feel strangely moved.
After Benny finished eating, Sarah finally pushed the stack of documents slightly toward him again.
"If you’d like," she said carefully, "you can also suggest directions for the café moving forward."
Her expression grew more serious.
"After all, you’re an investor now too."
Benny looked at the documents briefly.
Then he looked back at Sarah.
Suggest directions?
No need.
The current direction was already perfect.
In fact, he worried if he stepped in, he might actually cause a butterfly effect and turned this loss making company into a profit making one.
He leaned back slightly before speaking in an unusually sincere tone.
"I trust you very much."
Sarah blinked.
Benny continued calmly:
"I know we haven’t known each other for long..."
Then a faint smile appeared on his face.
"But I believe we’re fated to meet."
Sarah visibly froze meanwhile, Benny spoke entirely from the bottom of his heart.
After all... how else could he explain finding someone this talented at losing money?
"I trust your decisions," he finished firmly.
Silence filled the office for several seconds.
Sarah stared at him quietly, clearly caught off guard by the sudden sincerity.
A faint flush gradually rose onto her cheeks again.
"...Thank you," she said softly.
Benny nodded seriously.
No.
Thank you.
A little later, Benny finally stood up to leave.
Sarah personally walked him downstairs this time.
Even the staff inside the cafe seemed surprised seeing their boss accompanying him all the way to the entrance.
The warm cafe lights spilled onto the street as Benny stepped outside.
The cool night breeze brushed against his face.
And for the first time since receiving the system, he no longer felt anxious about money.
Everything was progressing perfectly.
The office was set up. Employees were joining. Operational loans were within reach. And Golden Spoon Café...
Golden Spoon Cafe was practically a gold mine disguised as a business.
Benny slowly lifted his head toward the night sky.
Only twenty-eight days left.
Twenty-eight more days before settlement.
Twenty-eight more days before he reaped the rewards of his harvest.
The thought alone nearly made him laugh out loud on the street.
His mood was so good that when a taxi approached nearby, Benny immediately raised his hand.
"Taxi!"
The car stopped smoothly beside him.
Normally, spending another ¥50 from his personal money would’ve hurt a little.
But tonight?
Who cared?
Soon enough, he would be rich.
Very rich.
Benny happily climbed into the back seat.
"Tengda Finance University," he said with a grin that simply refused to disappear.
The driver nodded. "Got it."
The taxi slowly pulled away from the curb and disappeared down the street.
Meanwhile—
Sarah remained standing outside Golden Spoon Cafe long after the car had left.
The warm glow from the Cafe windows illuminated her face softly as the cool night breeze brushed past her hair.
One hundred thousand yuan.
Even now, it still felt unreal.
Yesterday, she had been struggling just to keep the café afloat.
Suppliers were pressuring her. Expenses kept piling up. And she had reached the point where she was handling almost everything herself just to reduce costs.
Then suddenly, her benefactor appeared.
Not only did he invest without hesitation...
He didn’t even question her decisions afterward.
Most investors would’ve immediately demanded changes after seeing the café’s losses.
Reducing the portions, lowering the ingredient quality... even cutting the number of staffs at work and also increase in prices.
But Benny? He hadn’t said a single thing.
And even when he spoke, all he said was that he trusted her.
Sarah lowered her gaze slightly.
A faint warmth spread quietly through her chest.
Then slowly, her fingers tightened.
"...I’ll definitely live up to your trust," she murmured softly.
Her eyes gradually became firmer.
"I’ll make this the best cafe in the entire district."
A brief pause followed and then she corrected herself quietly.
"No."
Her gaze lifted toward the distant night skyline.
"The whole world."
