I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 318 - 271: Fourth Evolution
After he finished digesting the extract, Mr. Ya didn’t rush to break through to the Saint level. Instead, he focused on adjusting his condition and strengthening his physique.
His physique was by no means weak—in fact, it was quite strong—but it was nowhere near as freakishly powerful as Su Ze’s. The more he could strengthen his body, the greater his chances of a successful evolution.
He planned to wait for Su Ze to be ready, then the two of them would attempt the fourth evolution together.
There were still quite a few pure green Heart-shaped Fruits left. Mr. Ya had actually used very few to complete his digestion. After that, Su Ze was the one devouring the green Heart-shaped Fruits.
Time seemed to stand still for those in seclusion. Locked away inside the spaceship, Su Ze and Mr. Ya were completely isolated from the world. They trained every day without interruption, losing all track of time.
By the time Su Ze had also finally finished digesting the extract in his body, he remembered to pull out his phone. After charging it, he saw that it was already early October.
He had been in the spaceship for nearly a month and a half of intense training, and he had finally, completely digested the fifth-rank extract.
Nearly two months had passed since he first absorbed the vial of extract from the Fifth-rank River Dolphin Beast.
This was the longest it had ever taken him to absorb an extract.
’Finally, I can break through to the Saint level...’ Su Ze’s heart surged with excitement. He had been looking forward to this day for a long time.
...
The fourth evolution was a leap in the hierarchy of life, far more important and difficult than the previous three.
For most people, the fourth evolution was incredibly perilous, with an extremely high chance of failure.
Failure meant severe injury at best, completely severing one’s path to further evolution. At worst, it meant instant death.
Su Ze wasn’t worried about his own evolution failing because his foundation was too solid. Both his physique and his Spiritual Power had already reached the Saint level.
All of Mr. Ya’s skills were of extremely high quality, either S-rank or A-rank. He had also absorbed a Bloodline Crystal, so his chances of failure were similarly slim.
However, they still needed to treat it with caution.
During evolution, one’s state was especially important—not just the physical state, but the mental state as well.
Over a month of high-intensity training had left both Su Ze and Mr. Ya wound up far too tightly.
Su Ze called Mr. Ya, and the two of them relaxed for a whole day, soaking in a hot spring, watching alien blockbusters, and then getting a full night’s sleep...
Once they had adjusted their conditions to their absolute peak, the two began to prepare for the fourth evolution.
To avoid interfering with each other, the two of them evolved in their own separate rooms.
Closing the door to his room, Su Ze took a deep breath. For the first time, he felt a little nervous about an evolution.
He sat cross-legged on the large, soft bed. A potent, yellow evolutionary power radiated from his body, bathing the entire room in its brilliant light.
The evolutionary power pulsed gently in rhythm with his breathing. As his breaths grew steady, the power stabilized as well.
Casting aside all distracting thoughts, Su Ze’s mind became as still as a tranquil well.
Following his mental command, the calm evolutionary power instantly began to boil. The fourth evolution had officially begun!
Just like every evolution before, the first step was the transformation of the evolutionary power.
Only after all of his evolutionary power transformed to a higher level could it drive his body’s own evolution to the next stage.
The yellow evolutionary power swirled around Su Ze, turbulent and active, like boiling water...
Then, a wisp of evolutionary power sank into Su Ze’s chest, going straight to his heart.
It was as if his heart were a forge. Once inside, the wisp of evolutionary power was hammered and tempered with his every heartbeat, its color gradually beginning to change.
The yellow evolutionary power slowly shifted to green. Once it was completely transformed, the wisp passed through Su Ze’s heart, exited from his back, and hovered silently just outside his body.
Then, the next wisp of evolutionary power entered his heart again to be tempered...
This cycle repeated over and over, and more and more green evolutionary power accumulated around Su Ze’s body.
Finally, when all of the evolutionary power had completely transformed into green, the first step of the evolution was complete!
A ring of emerald-green evolutionary power surrounded Su Ze like a jadeite hoop.
The second step was to absorb all the evolutionary power back into his body and let it reconstruct him.
With a thought from Su Ze, the evolutionary power split into seven portions, which merged into his head, chest, abdomen, arms, and legs respectively.
The next instant, Su Ze felt a piercing pain. His whole body ached and swelled, as if something inside him was about to burst out and tear him apart!
This was the most difficult step: allowing Saint-level evolutionary power to reconstruct a Butterfly Stage body. Many people failed here, unable to withstand the transformation, their bodies simply exploding.
Su Ze’s body was definitely strong enough to withstand this level of reconstruction; he just had to endure the pain.
The pain wracking his entire body forced Su Ze to grit his teeth and endure. Suddenly, he felt his legs lighten, and the pain in them vanished.
He looked down to see his legs seemingly disintegrating into countless microscopic particles, into individual cells.
These cells were arranging themselves according to some pattern he couldn’t discern but that definitely existed. They combined into a series of regular shapes, like a map of a genetic sequence...
But with the forceful intervention of the green evolutionary power, these patterns were disrupted and reorganized, forming new patterns that were more complex, more intricate, and whose logic was harder to discern.
Finally, all the cells recombined, and Su Ze’s legs returned.
But Su Ze could clearly feel that his legs were different!
