I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1629 - 900: The Abyss Plane Barrier (Part 2)
"Come on, if you dare step into this domain!"
This scene instilled even the fearless Abyss Demons with apprehension.
They could sense that the Dead Silence Plain was permeated not only with the physical cold and the breath of Death, but an indescribable Strength as well.
It seemed to silently warn them that this was a forbidden zone of Life, a paradise of Death.
Any creature daring to tread upon it would pay a heavy price.
Thus, the two sides remained in a stalemate on either side of this boundary.
The Demon Army did not advance further, stationed behind this boundary, yet without crossing it.
The Undead stood quietly at the edge of the Dead Silence Plain, with no further action or slightest retreat.
Time seemed to freeze, while an atmosphere of tension and oppression filled the air.
Lis stood among the Abyss Demons, looking at the boundary before him.
He was certain that on the opposite side lay the Abyss Plane belonging to the 107th layer, the Nether Breath Domain.
Moreover, Lis could vaguely discern that this territory of the Nether Breath Domain should have originally been part of the Desolate Flame Plain.
But now, unlike the battlefield where they fought earlier, this area had been completely devoured by the Nether Breath Domain, detached from Dominic’s control.
Is this the clash between Abyss Lords?
To fight for control over the Abyss Plane in this way?
Lis pondered in his heart.
The area under Lis’s feet was already being eroded by the Undead Qi of the Nether Breath Domain.
However, Lis noticed that the undead qi in this area had begun to dissipate, and the breath of flames reappeared on the plain.
It should be the recent victory that allowed Dominic to retake control of this region, completely driving out Garrison’s invasion.
The struggle between Abyss Lords... is it quite understandable?
Lis silently observed everything before him, continuously speculating in his heart.
At this moment, Rodrick approached Lis, stretched out his hand, and gave Lis’s shoulder a hard pat, saying:
"Edward, well done!"
"I didn’t expect your Blood Magic to be quite useful. I should have found you earlier."
"Lord Rodrick, you’re too kind."
Lis shook his head slightly, then proactively asked:
"Lord Rodrick, are we not going after them?"
Rodrick heard this, looked at the nearby layer of black mist separating the planes, and shook his head unpleasantly, saying:
"No way, entering that place would be very troublesome."
"You must have noticed earlier that group of Undead were quite a handful."
"If it weren’t for Lord Dominic’s planning, how could the battle lines have advanced to here?"
"This area was taken away by those Undead thirty years ago."
Thirty years?
Lis was somewhat surprised upon hearing this.
Is it really that troublesome to invade other Abyss Planes?
Without having successfully devoured this region after thirty years, is it due to the slight difference in Strength between Dominic and Garrison, or some other reason?
While constantly reflecting in his heart, Lis continued to ask:
"Are we staying here then?"
"Wait for the Lord’s orders!"
Rodrick glanced at the Abyss Demons around him and whispered: 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Lord must have been fighting that obnoxious Garrison just now, should be unable to return for a while."
"When we return to the Desolate Flame Capital, I’ll double your reward!"
Rodrick expressed boldly:
He truly thought Lis was a great subordinate.
Even though he was weak in Strength, his mastery of Blood Magic proved very useful.
It gave Rodrick, who had been struggling when fighting the Undead, a chance to vent his frustrations.
This victory was merely reclaiming former territory.
It can be imagined that future wars with the Nether Breath Domain will not decrease.
In this situation, Lis’s presence is very valuable.
Moreover, Rodrick noticed that other Balrog Flame Demons had cast their gaze towards Lis beside him.
If he weren’t one of the leaders of these Flame Demons, someone might have already tried to snatch Lis away!
Rodrick seldom contemplated such trivial matters, but he was clearly aware of Lis’s advantages.
He couldn’t just let Lis depart.
Lis sensed Rodrick’s swift change in attitude but didn’t take it too seriously.
For him, it was just right.
Short-term, he planned to stay in the Desolate Flame Capital for a while.
With Rodrick, the local tyrant, assisting, many troublesome matters could be avoided.
Although the separation of the planes presented an opportunity to reach the 107th layer, Lis had no intention of crossing over.
It was adequate here; as a Vampire, Lis wouldn’t draw too much attention.
If he went over, blending in among a group of Undead would be much harder.
Moreover, Lis’s plan was to ascend instead of delving deeper into the Abyss.
Thinking of this, Lis felt a bit troubled.
The 106th layer he was in was indeed somewhat problematic.
If Lis wished to reach the 12th layer, the Twelve Trees Abyss Plane, he would have to pass through the 88th layer, the Saltwater Swamp.
This was the Abyss Plane under the control of Demon Prince Demogorgon.
Although Lis trusted Cain a lot, there’s no telling if he’d be detected by the most terrifying presence in the Abyss.
Previously, Lis had faced this Demon Prince’s Avatar.
Even that encounter had been deeply stressful for Lis.
Demogorgon’s main body should be residing in the Saltwater Swamp.
If discovered, Lis’s real body wouldn’t have a chance to resist, let alone in this Golden Rank Vampire Avatar.
Scheming slowly...
The methods presented to Lis were simple.
Either find another route and directly bypass the 88th layer,
Or try hiding his presence and gamble on not being discovered by Demogorgon.
Although Cain promised to help Lis reforge a Demon Avatar, if Demogorgon discovered him, Lis’s actions would be known.
Even if Lis forged a new Demon Avatar, the pressure he’d face would increase.
Thus, Lis wished to avoid any risks if possible.
In the Endless Abyss, using Space Teleportation Magic was also an option, but Lis hadn’t left any space markers in the Upper Abyss Plane.
Who knows if the Abyss Lords might have alternative methods?
Lis didn’t do much and stood beside Rodrick, organizing his future plans.
...
High above in this region, the Legendary Fire Demon Dominic stood, gazing at the plane separated before him, a sense of anger in his eyes.
This was his territory, yet Garrison had taken it!
However, Rodrick hadn’t dared to enter recklessly either.
The victory against Garrison took Dominic by surprise.
Although he had planned extensively, the development of events exceeded his expectations.
He didn’t expect it to end so smoothly, with Garrison retreating decisively.
Having inspected it for a while, Dominic confirmed that Garrison relinquished control over this area and returned to the 107th layer.
As long as Garrison’s Undead Qi was completely removed, this victory was quite satisfying.
At this moment, a voice with a bit of laziness and Charm sounded beside Dominic:
"My dear Dominic, I didn’t expect you to drive Garrison away alone, I haven’t even made a move."
"But, you mustn’t skimp on the things you promised me."
Upon hearing this voice, Dominic’s eyes showed a hint of caution, nodding with a deep voice:
"Of course."
"But now, help me reclaim the territory before us."
"Oh~ Dominic, that won’t do."
With some laughter, the voice said:
"That’s Garrison’s territory, you know I never take risks."
"Double your benefits."
"As you know, you’re always my friend, Dominic!"
"Deal!"
