Chapter 50: Capital City Solara

[Capital City, Solara]

Choo-Choo!!!

At sharp eight o’clock, the behemoth train finally reached its destination of the capital city.

Mikhail, who hadn’t slept the whole way, turned to look at Kevin who was sleeping peacefully.

He gently shook him and Kevin woke up with groggy eyes.

"Get up." Mikhail said, standing up. "We have arrived."

Kevin nodded his head while Mikhail stood up and stretched his body.

Methew did the same on the seat before he jumped onto Mikhail’s shoulder.

Kevin shifted his gaze around until it landed on Patrick who was also sleeping.

He stood up and gently shook him.

"Ahh!"

The boy woke up with a startled scream, making everyone look at him.

Noticing everyone’s gaze, the young boy’s face flushed red with anger.

He glared at Kevin. "Who gave you permission to touch me!?"

"We are already here." Kevin replied lazily. "And stop acting like a little bitch."

Mikhail silently chuckled when he noticed the boy’s face turning even redder.

But as Mikhail noticed others walking out, he couldn’t help but glance at the white haired boy.

’He is really odd.’ He thought, picking up his bag. ’Not only is he small and skinny, he is also easy to mess with.’

Mikhail shifted his gaze and walked towards the gate without looking back at him.

’I think the Samwell household has a few mines under them. They are from the southern region of the Aegon Kingdom....’

He glanced at Patrick again. ’And the southern region mostly has bronze or sun-kissed people.’

Looking at the milky white skin of Patrick, Mikhail doubted he was even from there.

’...An odd ball indeed.’

Exhaling softly, Mikhail took his first step on the ground of the capital of the Aegon Kingdom.

During the era of Julius Aegon I, the Aegon Kingdom was mostly under the influence of the Undying Sun.

Even the first king of the Aegon Kingdom, Julius Aegon I, was a devotee of "him," so much so that he named the kingdom’s capital Solara.

’Right now, most of the people are following the religion of the Faceless Moon.’ Mikhail thought gleefully. ’Julius must be rolling in his grave.’

When everyone had gotten out of the train, the middle aged guide whose name was John counted the twenty students before he led them out of the station.

As the ceiling of the station parted, Mikhail finally saw the erect wall around the city.

To keep humans safe, the first king himself had made a wall almost fifty feet tall that covered the whole city.

There were only six openings to enter the city, one was for only the train and another was to let the Reuben River flow inside the city.

’This looks like the walls from Attack on Titan.’ Mikhail thought, a nostalgic look appearing on his face.

He quickly shook the lingering feeling and walked outside the station.

John, who had brought the students to the main road, waited for someone.

While waiting for their ride, Mikhail glanced at Kevin who was still half asleep.

The young blonde looked to his side where Patrick was standing.

"Hey, shorty." He mumbled softly. "Do you want to know the secret for tall height?"

Patrick looked annoyed at being called short but he couldn’t stop his curiosity.

"What is it?"

Kevin looked around like he was about to tell a top secret, he leaned closer to his ear. "The secret is to masturbate four times a day."

Mikhail barely held back his laughter but couldn’t control his trembling shoulder.

Patrick immediately trembled and quickly stepped back in disgust. "What are you saying, pervert!?"

"I swear this works." Kevin said with a serious face before pointing at Mikhail. "You can ask him if you don’t believe me."

’Hey, hey, don’t drag me into this.’

Mikhail glared at Kevin while Patrick glared at him.

An awkward silence accompanied as a minibus arrived on the main road.

Everyone quickly got inside and Mikhail also entered and sat on the window seat while Kevin sat beside him.

Patrick sat on the last seat alone as he looked out of the window.

The bus started and the scenery behind the window changed.

Most of the buildings in the area were lit up by either blue or golden light. The street lights illuminated the road in a yellow colour.

Just like in the City of Sparrows, many of the buildings and shops were covered in graffiti and arts.

It was so beautiful that it made Mikhail mesmerised for a while. He blinked and shook his head.

’This place sure is unique.’

Mikhail thought as he looked at a fifty metre long wall that was being demolished.

Looking at it, Mikhail immediately thought of the land that his older brother had proposed to buy.

’I should take a look around the place sometimes.’

Mikhail thought to himself while he also noticed long cylindrical buildings that were likely chimneys.

’They are indeed chimneys.’

The constant smoke that came out of the top confirmed Mikhail’s thoughts.

Apart from being the home of most nobles and representatives of parliament, Solara was also an industrial hub.

They mainly had factories for refining ores and minerals and rubber production.

Most of the minerals for them came from Mount Razeen Valley, which was the mountain range that divided the Aegon Kingdom from the Republic of Freena.

And rubber trees were something commonly found just outside the city walls.

Mikhail let out a sigh and glanced to his side where Kevin was using his shoulder as a pillow.

He held back his urge to slap him and blame it on a mosquito. ’Let’s rest for a few minutes.’

---

After half an hour’s drive from the station, the minibus finally arrived at the Imperial University.

The students inside quickly walked out and began talking among themselves, creating a buzz.

Mikhail looked around and didn’t find any other students except them. ’Maybe we came too early or too late.’

John walked in front of the group and raised his hand.

The group quieted down and all looked at him.

"Your rooms have already been arranged and assigned. Two people can share the same room." He said in a deep voice. "I will now pass the room keys to you."

John quickly walked towards the front of the bus and brought out a bunch of keys with a list.

Then he began calling out the names of the students.

Mikhail actively listened to the names and found many of them were of noble descent or merchant families.

’I have noticed it a lot.’ He thought, rubbing his chin. ’It seems like the descendants of nobles have a higher chance of having a high level class.’

There had already been quite a few studies done on it and most of them had positive results.

It could be said that bloodline could also play a critical role in the class system.

’Then which of my ancestors had sex with an Outer God....’

Mikhail grumbled inwardly before he heard his name called.

He walked closer and took the key which had the number 333.

’Damn, kinda unlucky isn’t it?’

He didn’t think much of it and turned his head towards Kevin, hoping for the same room.

But Kevin’s number was 321, which made him quite disappointed.

’Now I have to share my room with a stranger....’

He quickly stole a glance at Patrick’s number and immediately got amused.

It was 321, same as Kevin.

Patrick had also noticed Kevin’s number and his face immediately turned ashen.

Just as Mikhail was imagining the drama that would follow, he felt goosebumps all over his body.

His hand moved towards the short spear, only for him to notice he wasn’t wearing the holster.

’What the fuck was that!?’

He swallowed hard and looked up as his eyes met with an.... owl.
