I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!
Chapter 247: None of Us Can Do This Alone
Roxanna stared at the words in silence, reading the letter again and again until her eyes began to ache.
Even though Azul’s handwriting looked messy, and she wouldn’t have been able to read it without the system’s help, she knew he had tried his best to turn his sweet thoughts into a letter.
Every crooked line felt full of his love, and it moved her so deeply that tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.
"Azul, this... this is so sweet," Roxanna said softly as she finally lifted her head and looked into his eyes. "How can you be this sweet? I don’t think I deserve this kind of sweetness."
Azul blinked quickly, feeling a little panicked because his wife was crying again, and it looked even worse than before.
"What do you mean?" he asked quickly. "Of course you deserve it! A sweet letter for my sweet wife! Doesn’t that sound perfect?"
Roxanna let out a small laugh through her tears. After wiping her cheeks, she nodded lightly. "I’m not sure... but when you say it like that, it really does sound nice."
"It’s not just nice, it’s more than enough!" Azul said, his voice rising a little. Then, after a short pause, he spoke again more quietly. "So... what do you think? Do you like the letter?"
He lowered his head, staring at the ground, then swayed slightly like a child waiting for their teacher to check their homework.
"Why are you still asking?" Roxanna let out a soft sigh, then smiled sweetly at him. "Weren’t you the one who said this sweet letter suits me? And like I said... it really is sweet, Azul."
"The letter is so sweet, and it makes me really happy," she repeated, emphasizing her feelings. "Thank you, Azul."
Before the fish beastman could reply, Roxanna had already leaned closer and stood on her tiptoes. "I’d be happy if you want to be my sky," she whispered.
She placed a soft kiss on his cheek, but before she could pull away, Azul gently held her and kissed her lips instead. It was only a short kiss, but it still caught Roxanna off guard and made her whole body feel warm.
"I should be the one saying that," Azul said softly. "I’m happy you came into this world." He smiled brightly, tilting his head. "Without you, me and the others would probably still be living in the dark."
A soft breeze passed through them, making the atmosphere around them feel sweeter and calmer. The smile on Roxanna’s face grew softer, and her eyes, once filled with tears, became brighter.
"Living in this world might be the best thing that has ever happened in my life," Roxanna said softly.
To be honest, she hadn’t lived in this world for very long, and her first child hadn’t even been born yet. But even so, even though she had only been with them for a short time, they had slowly put her broken heart back together piece by piece, the heart that Leon and Lisa had once shattered.
[I really thought I was going to die after three days when I first came here,] Roxanna thought. [But now... I never imagined my life would keep getting longer.]
Actually, she wasn’t even sure if her lifespan would decrease that drastically, considering that all of her husbands were far too horny and clingy to leave her alone.
"And what if I’m the one who teaches you how to write next time?" Roxanna asked with a soft smile. "You know... maybe I’m even better than Aelin when it comes to reading and writing."
[He’s sweet, but I would be happier if he came to me when he wants to learn something,] Roxanna thought. No, she wasn’t bitter, and she wasn’t that jealous anymore.
[I just want to become someone my husbands can rely on, just like I always rely on them,] she continued. [Maybe that way, they won’t ever think about having another wife in their lives.]
The moment Azul heard her thoughts, he quickly took both of her hands and said in a firm voice, "Yes! I’ll come to you next time when I want to learn something!" He added right away, "I promise! And I’m sorry for the misunderstanding!"
In just a few seconds, Roxanna’s heart softened even more because Azul truly didn’t want to leave even the smallest chance for her to misunderstand him any longer.
"A-Alright," she said awkwardly. "T-That’s good—no, I mean, that’s really good! I think I’ll have a lot of time after this, so I can teach you everything! Of course, together with the others!"
Azul nodded quickly, still smiling brightly. "I can’t wait!"
From the window, Luan, who had been watching them the whole time, let out a soft laugh. "I’ve never seen people argue, flirt, and then turn serious in such a short time."
Cyrus finally pushed himself away from the window and stood up straight. "Well, at least they’re fun to watch. And I noticed..." He glanced at Luan. "You don’t look that jealous anymore. Did doing it with me back at the Golden Mountain feel that good?"
Without thinking, Luan smacked the back of Cyrus’s head. "Don’t say nonsense!" he snapped. Then he turned his face away, his voice becoming a little awkward. "I-I just think being too jealous is pointless... and tiring. Besides, it’s not good for my mind."
Or more precisely, Luan had realized that he would be living with these people for a very long time. So instead of staying jealous and wanting to kill each other, it would be better if he just accepted it. Besides, he couldn’t deny that each of them was important for Roxanna’s happiness.
Honestly, it felt a little ironic. One man had broken her and even taken her life, but now, it took five husbands just to slowly heal her heart and even then, she still wasn’t fully healed.
Because of that, Luan knew that he could never heal his wife by himself.
They needed each other. If even one of them was left out, then their relationship wouldn’t feel complete.
