I Can Copy the Talents of All Creatures
Chapter 70: Buffet and Cultivation
Yu Fei pedaled furiously on his bike. Relying on his lightning-fast reflexes and a Martial Artist’s explosive power, he was somehow even faster than the cars on the road. In just two minutes, he crossed four main roads and arrived at a self-service barbecue restaurant on North Avenue.
The price for one person at the Kung Fu Niu Self-Service Barbecue Restaurant was 58 yuan for a two-hour limit. Yu Fei quickly paid and made a beeline for the prepared-foods section. He didn’t even bother to mix a dipping sauce; he just grabbed a plate, piled it high with chicken nuggets, found a random spot, and started swallowing them one after another, chewing each piece only twice.
In less than three minutes, he was finished. Just then, he saw that the grill master had some freshly cooked steaks.
Yu Fei immediately rushed over.
"One portion per person! You can get another after you finish that one," the grill master called out.
Yu Fei paid him no mind, snatching up a plate and grabbing five portions. When he reached for more, the master got anxious.
"What do you think you’re doing? It’s one portion at a time! This is a buffet; we’re not going to let you go hungry. But if you take that much and can’t finish it, you’ll be fined for the waste."
Yu Fei swallowed a small pastry he’d just grabbed on the side and replied without looking up.
"I’ll pay the fine if I can’t finish it! Now grill me five more!"
Then he snatched up his plate of steaks and walked off.
"Hey, you—!"
Watching Yu Fei walk away, the grill master waved a waiter over. "Liu, keep an eye on him."
He said, pointing at Yu Fei.
"If that kid dares to waste a single bite, fine the hell out of him! Not even a Martial Artist can eat that much."
Meat is naturally filling. And while their steak wasn’t the best quality, the portions were generous. The average man would feel sick of the taste after just two or three servings.
In truth, a Martial Artist’s massive appetite only really began at the second realm. First-realm Martial Artists ate more than average, but it was still within a reasonable range.
Although the grill master had the waiter, Liu, keeping watch, he couldn’t help but peek over from time to time. He saw Yu Fei polish off a steak in under a minute. Unbelievably, all five portions were gone in the blink of an eye.
’Ugh... I’m choking a little.’
He grabbed three of the small bottled drinks provided by the restaurant and downed them in a row, which finally brought him some relief.
"Chef, are those steaks ready yet?"
The grill master stared, dumbfounded.
"You... you can still eat?"
Yu Fei patted his stomach. "I’m only about a third full. Not even close!"
The grill master’s eyes widened. "You’re a beast! They’ll be ready in two minutes. Go eat something else to tide you over."
"Alright!"
Now that the desperate edge of his hunger was gone, Yu Fei finally went to mix a bowl of dipping sauce.
After an hour and a half of eating and drinking, Yu Fei was finally full. He realized he’d made a miscalculation. He should have gone to the Aurora Martial Arts Hall to train. Mr. Du had paid for his two-year VIP membership, which included showers, unlimited energy drinks, and free meals.
"I’m heading out, Chef!"
Yu Fei waved at the grill master and prepared to leave.
"Take care, young man!"
Watching Yu Fei leave, he said to the waiter:
"Holy cow, the boss took a huge loss on that one. The raw ingredients for what that kid ate had to be worth two or three hundred yuan."
Liu covered his mouth with a laugh. "That kid is definitely a Martial Artist. No ordinary person, no matter how tough, could eat that much."
"Definitely a Martial Artist. Did you see he was carrying a sword?"
The moment Yu Fei got home, he saw Yu Wei spraying a can of air freshener everywhere.
"Bro, what have you been doing in here? Why does it stink so bad? It’s disgusting!"
Yu Fei changed into his slippers and said without looking up, "There was a dead mouse under your bed. I threw it out for you. That’s why it stinks."
"What—?!"
Yu Wei covered her nose with her sleeve and rushed into her bedroom, spraying frantically.
Yu Zhiguo poked his head out of the kitchen. "Feifei, was there really a dead mouse?"
"Of course not, I was just teasing her! I had a bit of a breakthrough in my training and sweated a lot. It’ll be fine after it airs out for a while."
Hearing their conversation, Yu Wei stormed out of her room. "Aha, so *you’re* the dead mouse! You’re the worst!"
She aimed the air freshener at Yu Fei and sprayed him relentlessly.
"That’s enough! The smell was already gone. Now the whole house just reeks of your air freshener."
Yu Wei snatched Yu Fei’s arm. "I don’t believe you! Let me check!"
With that, she sniffed his arm.
"Ah!"
Yu Wei shrieked. Mr. Yu immediately came jogging out of the kitchen, spatula in hand. "What’s wrong?"
"Look at my brother!"
Yu Fei was bewildered. "What about me?"
"Dad, look! My brother’s skin is so nice! It feels even smoother than petting a cat!"
"Sheesh, and I thought it was something serious." Yu Zhiguo hurried back to the kitchen to stir-fry the dish he’d left on the stove.
Yu Fei shook his sister’s hand off. "You’re being ridiculous."
"Wait—no, Bro, don’t move!"
"What is it now?!"
"I don’t know... you seem different!"
"Different how?"
Yu Wei looked her brother up and down, even circling him a few times.
"Bro, it’s like... your personal resolution has gone up."
"What are you talking about?" Yu Fei was exasperated.
"No, really! It’s like your features have gotten more refined," Yu Wei said with the utmost seriousness.
"Listen, any guy looks way more handsome after a shower and a change of clothes. I just used a lot of body wash this afternoon. It must be your imagination."
After brushing Yu Wei off, he turned and went to the quiet room.
’The core talent integrated into the Void Martial Body is Celestial Grace. Although its main effects were an affinity for the Yuan Qi of heaven and earth and an enhanced cultivation aptitude, the passive improvements to one’s appearance and disposition hadn’t completely vanished. Instead, they were subtly and gradually adjusting Yu Fei’s outward appearance.’
’He had a feeling that once the Martial Body was fully developed, these external adjustments would cease.’
’The corners of his mouth couldn’t help but lift at the thought that he, too, might one day have a fan club of young girls, just like Ye Feng.’
Yu Fei meditated for a moment, and his thoughts grew calm.
In fact, his body was currently at a very peculiar junction. He had absorbed a great deal of the world’s Yuan Qi today, breaking free from the shackles of the Vitality Elixir and significantly strengthening his Qi Blood. However, because his overall limit had been raised so drastically, his body was still in a state of depletion.
He felt both powerful and weak at the same time, an extremely unpleasant sensation.
Yu Fei had just spoken with his parents and arranged to take a week off from school, asking for leave from his homeroom teacher, Zhang Kun, and Teacher Yan Sea.
Based on his progress today, he estimated that by training his stance work at the Perfection level and tempering his body with the Yuan Qi of heaven and earth, he could completely replenish his reserves in about a week.
He was already exhausted from practicing his stance work all day. Even if his willpower could push him further, his body couldn’t keep up. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Sitting on the meditation cushion, Yu Fei cleared his mind. His hands formed a series of seals as he began to cultivate the Cyan Lotus Sword Seal. He had previously cultivated this auxiliary Sword Nurturing Skill to the Minor Accomplishment stage but had since stagnated, limited by his innate talent and unable to make any further progress.
’It’s different!’
The flow of Qi Blood in his body was silky smooth, moving with perfect control. Previously, cultivating had been a difficult, sluggish process, like climbing a narrow mountain trail. Now, it was like speeding down a wide-open highway. The two speeds were simply incomparable.
It wasn’t just a difference in his comprehension, but more importantly, a change in his fundamental constitution. Yan Sea once said that some people could break through all five hurdles of the first realm within a month. He had always been skeptical, but after obtaining a red-grade martial body talent, he finally understood that it wasn’t just an empty boast.
