Chapter 44: One Hit, One Kill

Sol’s eyes snapped wide, his jaw hanging open. "Holy shit! Is that Leon? What happened to his clothes, and why is he suddenly wearing a mask?"

The mask hadn’t just covered Leon’s face. His whole attire had changed. If not for his familiar hairstyle and knowing that only Leon was with them, Sol would have surely mistaken him for someone else.

’This mask is really handy. It didn’t just cover my face but changed my attire too. With this, I will have no problem hiding my identity from others. I will just have to convince these three so that they don’t spill the beans.’ Leon thought.

’Wasn’t he supposed to be just a summoner? How is his sword-wielding so amazing? It’s almost like sis.’ Sol’s thoughts were a mess while he tried to focus on the monsters before him.

"Thank you very much." Noah said.

Leon nodded. "Don’t forget to watch your back."

Even his voice was different. But Noah didn’t bother with it or feel like inquiring about it. He was already grateful for Leon saving him.

Leon was about to lunge forward, but before he could...

[A random mission has unlocked. Use only one swing each to kill at least 20 opponents.]

[Reward: Lucky draw]

"Lucky draw my ass. Like, I am ever going to fall for that stupid game of yours. But...

I don’t mind trying it. Not for the reward but to see what I am capable of."

He arced his hand back, raising the sword. The tip pointed toward the monsters. He touched the plain surface of the blade, the left index and middle finger sliding from top to bottom.

A minotaur rushed at Leon. It was a B-Class monster. Sol saw it and panicked. ’No. He’s strong but can’t take care of that monster. It will be too much for him.’

He clenched his fist as ice enveloped it. The monster he was fighting with was blasted back mercilessly with the next punch. He then rushed toward Leon. Emily had noticed it, too, but she then saw Sol rushing for Leon’s help.

But just before Sol could arrive, just before the gigantic minatour could swing its battle axe, Leon leapt forward, the ground slightly cracking where he just stood.

Seeing this, the minotaur tried to bring its weapon down like a heavenly judgment, but Leon spun sharply in the air, followed by a white slash.

The gigantic monster stopped immediately. Its upper body slid and crashed to the ground

Sol stopped abruptly as if he were suddenly nailed to the spot. ’He... He just took down a B-Class monster with one swing.’ Sol’s jaws tightened.

"Damn! That was swift. I really killed a B-Class monster with one hit. Forget one hit. It’s already good enough that I could even kill a B-Class monster." He looked at the blade with emotion and kissed it. "You are awesome, buddy." Leon whispered.

But before he could savor the moment...

Whoosh!

A claw swept over his head. He ducked at the last moment, or else his head would have been separated by now.

Leon swiftly rolled forward, reaching behind the monster’s back. And then... An oblique slash at the back. The monster was cut in half. This one was just a D-Class monster. A B-Class beast couldn’t stand before him. What could a mere D-Class do?

[2/20]

A notification popped up in the panel, but Leon didn’t even have time to look at it.

A huge palm slammed on his head, pushing him back. His body crashed into the wall behind. But the grip on his face didn’t loosen. He was yanked with great force and then again got slammed.

Blood trickled down from the back of his head. He tried to swing his sword, but another forceful grip wrapped around his wrist.

The grip then yanked him to the right, slamming him to the ground. The grip pulled him up, then again slammed him in the left like a wet cloth.

Leon’s vision was blurry by now. Amidst the chaos, he finally saw what it was. A red giant. An A-Class beast.

The monster finally got tired of Leon and threw him away like a piece of trash.

The giant leapt in the air, heading toward Leon. It looked like it wanted to kill Leon.

Just before its hulking figure could descend on Leon, a blazing fireball came rushing. It slammed on the beast’s chest, engulfing it in fire and throwing it away.

A figure landed beside him, gracefully. "Was I not clear enough?" Emily said in a cold voice. "We are here to save people. Not die while flaunting power."

If Leon weren’t badly hurt at the moment, his face would have turned red in embarrassment. ’I became a bit too careless and didn’t focus enough to notice what situation I was really in. If she hadn’t arrived, then...’ Leon didn’t get to finish his thought as Emily slammed her palm against Leon’s chest. He thought she was trying to punish him for being reckless. But the very next moment, fire blazed beneath her palm, engulfing Leon. He quickly felt all his injuries vanishing. Even the blood wounds started to close. Once she was done, she didn’t talk further and left. Half of the monsters were already dead. Only 20 to 25 remained.

Leon stood up.

"I may have levelled up, but I am still a newbie in this field. Whatever. For now, let’s just wrap it up."

He leaned forward slightly. And then bolted forward.

One orc was about to land a punch on Noah. Leon jumped and sat on its back, wrapping his legs like a chain around its neck.

Then....

Schlk! Leon thrust his sword at its shoulder.

[3/20]

Leon jumped off it and rushed toward his next target.

A giant humanoid boar.

The monster swung a chain, a spiked mace attached at the end.

Leon shot forward, jumping and spinning in the air. He swung his sword, chopping off the monster’s head.

[4/20.]

Leon continued his slaughter. And this time, with no mistake. His moves were explosive, but cautious.

While the other three killed only five or six altogether, Leon ended up killing 20. He had deliberately chosen weaker ones. For one thing only.

[Congratulations, host.]

[Monsters killed with one slash: 20/20]

[You have completed the mission.]
