I Can Merge Techniques
Chapter 261 - 124: The Blood Saber Sect Takes the Blame Again; Literacy’s 3rd Limit Break, Breaking Through to Mortal Transformation
"Good heavens! Who was that? To single-handedly kill three Mortal Transformation masters from the Moon Worship Sect!"
A voice trembled, full of panic.
"Judging by that Saber Technique and Evil Qi, he must be from the Blood Saber Sect. But if the Blood Saber Sect had a master like that, how could they have let their territory get carved up by other powers and end up in their current predicament?"
"How strange! I didn’t sense any fluctuations of Primordial Qi from him... His Saber Gang was clearly just Qi Blood Power mixed with Evil Qi. There wasn’t a trace of Primordial Qi in it!"
"Could he be a Demon secretly raised by the Blood Saber Sect? I’ve heard they have a Secret Technique that uses Evil Qi to cultivate Death Warriors, forging them into killing machines whose strength far surpasses their peers."
"From the looks of it, the Moon Worship Sect has pushed the Blood Saber Sect to the brink, and they’re finally fighting back. If there are a few more Demons like that, the Moon Worship Sect is in for a real headache."
"But the Moon Worship Sect will never take this lying down. I fear a bloodbath is coming to Cyan Yang Ancient City..."
"That poor Blood Saber Sect... they probably don’t even know what calamity is about to befall them."
"The Blood Saber Sect is incredibly cunning. They built their Main Altar in the Inner City. Even the Moon Worship Sect wouldn’t dare charge into the Inner City to kill them, would they?"
The night grew deeper. This was destined to be a sleepless night for many in Cyan Yang Ancient City.
...
Chu Fan returned to the Seven Stars Gang without a sound.
He lit the oil lamp in his room and laid out his spoils from the night on the table.
A Little Cyan Snake slithered out from his sleeve.
Wisps of smoke curled upwards as the Cyan Snake transformed into her human form. She stared at the items on the table, unable to contain her delight.
"Damn it! I’ve always wanted to pull a job like this, but I never even dared to enter the city!"
On the table lay three pairs of Black Gold Silk Gloves, shimmering with a dark luster in the lamplight. They were identical to the three pairs Chu Fan had acquired previously.
The gloves had a peculiar texture. They looked as thin as fine silk, but were incredibly resilient—the perfect material for making Inner Armor.
’The Cao and Li Families should be able to find a skilled weaver.’
Chu Fan nodded, carefully putting the three pairs of gloves away.
He planned to find a woman with deft hands among the Cao and Li Families to unravel the gloves and re-weave the Black Gold Silk into a suit of form-fitting Inner Armor.
Next, he took stock of the other spoils.
He gave the silver notes a cursory count before tucking them into his robes.
It wasn’t that he viewed money as worthless, but the Elixirs and Treasure Plants were far more captivating.
Five bottles of Elixirs were lined up neatly...
Two bottles of Qi Gathering Pills, one bottle of Vein Opening Pills, one bottle of Thunder God Body Tempering Pills, and a fifth bottle that Chu Fan didn’t recognize.
He handed the unfamiliar bottle of Elixirs to the Cyan Snake.
The Cyan Snake’s face lit up, and she immediately tried to tuck it away. Chu Fan slapped the back of her hand. "I asked you to see what kind of Elixir it is, not to take it!"
"...Hmph!" The Cyan Snake gritted her teeth, opened the bottle, and poured out an elixir. After examining it closely, she said, "A Three-Stripe Acupoint Opening Pill! We’re rich! This bottle is the most valuable of all five!"
Chu Fan was both surprised and delighted. "What’s it used for?"
"You can’t use it yet," Cyan Snake Xiaobai said. "It’s for Acupoint Realm Martial Artists to open their Acupoints. You’ve still got a long way to go... There are nine pills in here. Give me two!"
Chu Fan said, "One!"
"Just two!" the Cyan Snake whined, swaying her slender waist coquettishly. "I may not have fought, but I still helped!"
Chu Fan gave her a look.
’Ever since their time in the Mist Marsh, he had been thinking about how to keep the Cyan Snake with him.’
’Losing two Acupoint Pills was a painful thought, but you have to bait the hook to catch the fish.’
"Fine... You can have two."
Chu Fan poured out another Acupoint Pill and handed it to the Cyan Snake.
The Cyan Snake beamed, practically trembling with laughter.
She had spent years in the Mist Marsh, only occasionally daring to venture out, and had almost never set foot in a city.
She hadn’t expected to come to the city looking for her sister and end up with such a haul instead!
"I owe you for tonight."
Chu Fan picked up a bottle of Qi Gathering Pills, poured out three, and gave them to the Cyan Snake.
The Cyan Snake stared at the Elixirs, practically drooling. She accepted them and said in a charming voice, "See how important I am now? If I hadn’t sensed those two masters hiding among the walking corpses ahead of time, do you think it would’ve been so easy for you to kill them?"
As she spoke, she pointed to several Jade Boxes on the table. "There’s a unique fragrance coming from the seams of those Jade Boxes. They must contain some very old Treasure Plants!"
Chu Fan opened a Jade Box and glanced inside, then looked back at the Cyan Snake.
He had never seen any of these items before.
Cyan Snake Xiaobai pointed to one Jade Box. "This is a Three-leaf Green Lingzhi, suitable for Cultivators who practice Cold Ice Skills. This particular one should be about one hundred and fifty years old. It’s incredibly valuable."
She then pointed to a black fruit in another Jade Box. "That’s a Black Leaf Fire Lotus Fruit. It can be used by a Mortal Transformation master when Breaking a Realm, or when they’ve completely exhausted their energy. It can rapidly replenish a great deal of Primordial Qi."
A flicker of delight flashed in Chu Fan’s eyes, but Xiaobai’s next words sobered him.
"But unless you have a body as robust as we of the Demon Race, humans shouldn’t eat these Treasure Plants directly."
Xiaobai explained seriously, "For one, the Spiritual Mechanism within them is too potent for the meridians of an ordinary Cultivator to handle. For another, all medicine is partly poison. The older the Treasure Plant, the more intense its toxicity tends to be."
"That’s why you humans invented the Alchemy Skill: to refine these Treasure Plants and other potent ingredients into Elixirs before taking them."
"We of the Demon Race, especially Scattered Demons, lack that skill. But we live long enough and have bodies strong enough to just swallow Treasure Plants whole when we find them. Sometimes we even have to fight other Demon Fiends over them."
Chu Fan carefully put the Jade Boxes away, thankful that the Treasure Plants were properly preserved and their Spiritual Mechanism hadn’t leaked out.
He couldn’t help but sigh. "These Mortal Transformation experts really carry a lot of good stuff..."
Xiaobai’s eyes lit up, and she asked eagerly, "How about we go pull another job tomorrow night?"
"No!" Chu Fan shook his head. "After being hounded by all those other powers, the Moon Worship Sect already switched their team leaders from the Bone Marrow Forging realm to the Mortal Transformation realm."
"After losing three of them in one night, they definitely won’t let this go."
