I can travel to an Apocalyptic world using a cube
Chapter 10: Kovliar
Despite the road being rough and them cruising at a very high speed, the ride was not bumpy at all. The bike was that good.
"How fast are we moving?" He questioned.
He was sitting on the motorbike with his hands wrapped around her waist, his head leaning over her shoulder.
She herself had asked him to hold her tight and since she was not minding, he was enjoying himself with the feel of the muscles of her stomach. The warmth of her body was rubbing against his chest and Ronan was in bliss.
"Around 120kmph," she said.
They continued to travel in silence. Not for long though. After 12 or 15 minutes had passed since the beginning of their journey, they arrived at a rising mound and as they reached the top of it the city of Kovliar came into view. Elicia brought the bike to an abrupt halt.
"This is Kovliar," Elicia said.
Ronan was stunned at the sight in front of him. The city was massive. Standing at one end of the city, Ronan could barely see the other end of the city.
The entire city was surrounded by a thick, massive and sturdy stone wall. The wall was high, probably around twenty-five metres.
From the high vantage point, he could tell that the wall was almost two metres thick. On the wall, men were stationed dressed in a greyish coloured uniform with rifles in their hands. Apart from them, at every twenty metres, a massive machine gun was fixed on the wall.
Directly in front of him was a massive gate around 10 metres wide. Both its metallic doors were thick and sturdy and were wide open at this moment. People were lining up to enter the city and the men dressed in the same greyish uniform were checking them.
From where he was standing, he spotted around 6 of those dirt paths converging towards the city. Three of them were converging towards this gate only. He could not see but Ronan could tell that there were other gates in the city towards which these paths were converging.
The houses and the buildings of the houses were nothing different from his home world. The only noticeable thing was that the colour of the buildings were mostly on the darker side and he could see very few buildings in bright colours.
"How big is the city?" He mumbled, surprise evident in his voice.
"100km by 73km," she replied. "The population is around ten million."
"What a massive city," he responded.
"Do not act humble," she scoffed. "Compared to The Sanctuary this is nothing."
Ronan did not respond. If this was nothing then how big The Sanctuary was?
"Let us move," she said and Ronan climbed back on the bike.
He wrapped his hands around her waist and the bike shot forward. It barely took them a couple of minutes before the bike arrived at the gates and came to a halt.
Ronan finally had a closer look of the humans of this world apart from Elicia. Just like her, they were no different from the humans of his own world. The majority of them were dressed in casual clothes like jeans and t-shirts.
Almost everyone was dressed in big boots barring him who was wearing normal shoes. There were people with all kinds of skin tones from dark to wheatish to white. Same was the case with hair from blonde to black to brown.
There were two lines entering the city. The one was of people who were on foot. There were not more than ten people in this city.
The second line was of people on their bikes. The guard checking the line had some kind of machine in his hand using which he was scanning the number plates. It seemed that this world too had the concept of number plates. Romanβs eyes inadvertently shifted towards Eliciaβs bike. Just like everyone else, she too had a number plate attached to her bike.
It also seemed that only the driver was allowed to enter the city on the bike. If they had a companion they had to take the on foot line.
"Will I face any difficulty entering the city?" He asked, seeing the guards checking for documents.
"No," she responded with a shake of his head. "Every human is allowed entry inside the city. But since you are not a resident of the city, you will just need to pay a fee depending on the number of days you want to stay."
"You will have to cover my fee," Ronan shrugged. "I do not have anything on me."
"Wait here," she said with narrowed eyes. "I will get your pass in just a few minutes."
"Just for today," he added.
Elicia shrugged but did not say anything as she walked towards the right side of the metallic door. A room was present besides the door. Four counters were present in the wall of the room and given the different length of people cueing on different counters, Ronan could say that each counter had a different purpose.
Elicia joined one of the cues. A few minutes later it was her turn.
She handed a few light blue coloured crystals to the man behind the counter. The man handed her a paper and she turned back towards him.
"Here," she said, handing him the paper. "Youe permit to stay in the city till tomorrow Sunrise."
"Ok," he responded, taking the paper.
"Do not lose it," she warned. π³ππππππππ πππ.π°π π¦
"Join the line," she said gesturing towards the on foot line. "I will meet you on the other side of the gate."
Ronan nodded, joining the foot line while Elicia joined the line of the motorbikes. A couple of minutes later it was his turn. He handed the document to the guard.
"Name?" The guard asked.
"Ronan," he replied.
No more questions were asked to him. The guard handed him the paper back and gestured to more. Ronan took a deep breath, crossed the gigantic door and entered the city of Kovliar.
