I Devoured The Primordial Chaos to Become the Strongest
Chapter 152: What type of crypt
It was then that Stallus realized why the water was so clean; immediately, the monster fell into the water. It was vaporized, fur, bones, and blood, and everything burned and smoked. Disappearing.
Stallus stood frozen; what just happened? Did she see what she thought she saw? But she couldn’t even prove that anything happened because nothing remained of the pest monster.
Even the smell of burning flesh was gone in the air.
Stallus felt a chill as she looked at the water. "This.. this water must be some kind of acid. But even acid doesn’t burn as fast or that powerfully."
She crouched and knocked some stone loose from the floor, and then she watched the water, looking at it closely so as not to miss anything. Then she threw the stone in; immediately it touched the surface, the stone melted, and the melted liquid vaporized.
It happened so fast. If Stallus hadn’t been watching closely, then she would have missed it. Her heart was beating fast, and she was closely to the wall, but the most annoying thing was that no matter where she went in the crypt, the water would be there.
"And what’s the purpose of this water anyway?" she muttered, her weapon ready in her hand, then she suddenly froze as she heard something dripping on the floor behind her. She turned swiftly and what she saw made her eyes wide.
It’s a zombie all right. But the type she’d never seen before, the zombie was as tall as her but with a hunched back and grey skin that looked as if it’d fallen off from its skeleton at any time. But that is not the only thing; it looked as if this zombie had drowned because its skin was so puffy and wet.
Wet from the acidic water. Stallus shuddered; this thing came out of the water that was vaporizing everything. "Wha..."
The zombie stumbled forward as if it was just trying its first walk on solid ground ever, its eyes burning with harsh white light, and its mouth opened in a soundless scream.
But by the second the monster was getting better at walking and before long it was striding towards her with hands outstretched, but just when it was about to touch her, the zombie suddenly found its head spinning in the air!
The attack from Stallus was so fast it didn’t see her draw her weapon and return it. "Oh, so you can burn now." She muttered after she kicked the monster into the water.
"So zombies for a sewer, fitting. But how am I supposed to recognize the boss? Like it’s a lair? I don’t have to enter the water, do I?" She glanced at the calm running water with a grimace.
She continued to move forward, but she kept a close eye on her surroundings after that, especially her back. But throughout the connected tunnels she’s walked so far, she’s seen nothing special, and no monster jumped at her again.
But almost as if she was the one summoning them with her thoughts, water splashed behind her, and she turned. "You’ve got to be kidding. There weren’t any monsters, and now there are two?" She rolled her eyes, but she covered her legs with essence.
Before Stallus got her crystal to start using skills, she invested so much in her fighting so she wouldn’t fall behind the others. She continued the practice since then, and the result was that she’s now able to use the ’quick draw’ technique very well.
And that’s not the only thing; she’s improved with her footwork as it’s the most important thing in her type of fighting. Stallus didn’t have strength like Catena and the others. She relied on her speed.
So she covered her legs and hands with her essence. "Quickdraw." Immediately, she was in front of the zombies, and all they saw, and most would see, was a small blue flash, but their heads fell from their bodies.
Stallus nodded in satisfaction. "Target their hearts or heads." Then she kicked the bodies into the water.
She continued walking, and then she froze again, and now her eyes hardened as she turned. It’s four zombies now, and these were not waiting around to be killed; they immediately rushed her, but just as before, their heads fell from their necks.
Stallus didn’t turn, she waited after she kicked the bodies, her eyes cold with worry. She didn’t continue walking. Instead, she waited patiently to see how the zombies would climb up.
But she was left surprised because she stiffened, and her eyes widened. "It can’t be." She turned, and now there were eight monsters behind her.
"They are multiplying each time and are getting faster too! They get more powerful each time they get here!" She danced between them, her sword flashing. Heads fell, and bodies followed; some of them didn’t get their heads cut, it was their hearts that got pierced.
She stood there, heart drumming in her ears, and she closed her eyes and calmed herself. "Easy, easy. I can’t get myself worked up. I just have to kill all the zombies that appear."
Outside, Commander Apex was looking at Crypt Master with curiosity. "What type of crypt is this?"
"A cursed one. The zombies will only appear behind her, and for each set she kills, there’ll be double unless she kills the boss."
"So an infinite number of zombies?"
"Yes. But that’s impossible because, in the end, one will kill the other. The zombies or her," he said.
Azaroth was looking at the glass with half-closed eyes. He knew that the number of zombies was not enough to pose any threat to her. He had fought with her a lot of times and he knew just how strong she is.
So he watched her through the screen while the others debated about the advantages or disadvantages of her ’quick draw’ technique, saying it’s too impractical to use in long fighting with multiple opponents, but Azaroth knew otherwise. "Let’s see what you can do."
