I Devoured The Primordial Chaos to Become the Strongest
Chapter 25: Why are you here
Something gripped him and dragged him through the darkness, Azaroth resisted but whatever invisible force was holding him dragged him down and he tumbled through the darkness.
Azaroth woke with a started gasp, his hand going to the sword that was on the bed in front of him. He was sitting with crossed legs when he went to his ’mind’ and that was how he found himself.
"What could have dragged me out of there?" Azaroth was sure he was dragged. He could feel something pull him to consciousness so fast he hardly breathe.
He raised his fiery eyes and looked around the room but found nothing amiss. Yet he refused to relax, his hand gripped the sword hard and he tensed.
"Something strange is happening." He murmured.
Azaroth shifted on the bed, then gently crouched while maintaining his grip on his unsheathed sword. The single candle burned gently on his bed frame.
The air shifted behind him, the hair around his neck raised, and his muscles tensed as all his senses screamed at him. Something was behind him!
Azaroth drew his sword so fast the air wooshed as his sword cut through. The pink leaves that he had just cut swayed through the air before landing separately on his bed.
Azaroth straightened and got down from the bed, the floor was cold to his naked feet but he barely felt anything as he looked around his room.
He inspected the leaf to be sure but there was no need, it was similar to the leaf he saw in the crypt. The man that had tried to kill him.
How had this leaf entered his room? Their was no window that led outside except for the door and door that wasn’t locked.
It was a policy that all doors belonging to Hounds were built without doors, only the high-ranking Hounds had access to locked doors.
But Azaroth was sure the leaf didn’t pass through the door. What if it had passed through when he was harvesting? He thought. It was possible but Azaroth didn’t think so.
"Oh? So deep thought for such a young man! It will spoil your face!" A man sitting on his bed said, he was a tall and slender man with sleek shoulders. The man was dressed in the red and black uniform of the Hound.
Azaroth paused only for a moment before his sword blurred through the air, straight for the man’s head. His sword was met with a single pink leaf that glowed gently, a spark flew as both connected, and Azaroth’s sword stopped inches from the man’s throat.
It was like his sword met metal that refused to move.
Azaroth drew back his sword and pointed forward. "Who are you?" He demanded. The man hadn’t been here minutes ago, even seconds ago. How had he gotten here? Without him knowing?
The man turned his mask-covered face to him and tapped it gently. "So cold to me! Who am I? Haven’t we met before? We have met and are known to each other! Don’t do that to me!"
The man put his hand on his heart and rocked on the bed. Azaroth studied him and he was....good at what he does. The spy was dressed exactly like every other hound, even his mask was perfect, and if Azaroth saw him outside he wouldn’t be able to point him out.
Azaroth looked at him in disgust, one of the things he hated most was dramatic people and this man was even worse than Alex. "You disturbed my crypt hunting, that’s it. I know you not."
The man sighed so miserably that Azaroth almost snorted at the ridiculousness. How had it gotten to this? He was sure he wouldn’t be meeting this man again even though deep inside him he wanted to.
This man got something he might use.
Azaroth asked another question because he was sure the man won’t tell him who he was. "What are you here for?"
"For you of course!" The man said. The pink leaf still spunned alone in the air.
"What are you here for in the Hounds?" Azaroth asked.
"You know what I’m here for, you are smart. Tell me why did you think I’m here for?" The question dropped with a hint of a smile behind his mask as if he was enjoying this.
Azaroth ignored the question, looking for leverage instead, what he found was weak but he used it anyway. "I can call the Hounds and have you exposed."
The man paused and lifted his mask face up as if asking; really? "That’s..... that’s impossible and you know it. I am the perfect Hound, obedient and unseen."
Azaroth shrugged. "It doesn’t matter. I’m sure they will know the face behind the mask isn’t their’s."
The man made a low disgusted sound in his throat. "You don’t know how the Hounds works do you? I sometimes forget that you are still young with your red face and white hair."
The man tilted his head up and whispered. "A story there hum? Want to share?"
It was Azaroth’s turn to raise his brows in the, ’really?’ gesture.
The man shrugged. "It wouldn’t hurt to ask. That’s my job you know. Asking and knowing."
"Really? Then here’s a question for you, what’s happening in Doomhaven continent?" Azaroth asked.
The man froze, then spread his hand. "Dangerous questions young one! What’s happening isn’t affecting you, is it?"
Azaroth moved forward consciously, his sword pointed directly at the man, he had moved without even thinking. "What’s happening isn’t affecting me? I’m here am I not?"
"Ah... of course! Of course! Sorry." The man said.
Azaroth frowned angrily at himself then he said flatly. "You baited me, didn’t you? Try to get information out of me."
The man laughed, clapping as he did so. "You are something! Catching on so fast. Let me give you something for free," he started counting his fingers. "if you want information. You can observe, threaten, buy, or hit a weak spot."
"You catch up easily though. Taking out the fun, you are what I called a fun killer!" The man laughed again.
"So which are you here to do? Buy or threaten? Because I’m sure you have observed enough." It disturbed Azaroth that he was being observed without him knowing.
"No, no, no, no! I’m not here for that I’m not here to get information. Well if you any informations for me I...."
"What are you here for then?" Azaroth cut him off.
Azaroth was sure the man was smiling again. "Why, to make a deal with you, Azaroth!"
