Chapter 83: Chapter Eighty-Three: Mother System

It was the deep, resonant voice of another person entirely, a powerful male, speaking from a realm far beyond the borders of this lower world.

"Do you think it’s really okay to have sent her down to this primitive place?" the male voice murmured, laced with an undertone of heavy worry. "I still feel it is not safe for her."

A second voice, a female, older and brimming with unyielding authority, echoed back through the shared consciousness. "But this is the only place she can naturally find unique talents that will be of genuine help to her in the future. She needs to cultivate warriors, talents that will willingly put down their very lives for her if need be, bound by true loyalty, not forced contracts."

The first male let out a sharp, slightly disdainful scoff. "It’s just... these native males she has chosen are all so incredibly stupid. They cannot even protect her from the wrath of a menial, low-level world God."

"I also think so," the female voice replied softly, a faint trace of amusement filtering through the tone. "But I can also see that they are already very much in love with our Wanwan. They simply need to awaken their ancient memories and unlock their hidden lineages. Once their seals are broken, they will definitely be good assets for Wanwan."

The male paused for a moment before continuing. "It’s only that first boy, Wang, that has slowly begun to awaken his memory and his true lineage out there in the wilds. When he finally does fully awaken it, he will definitely be more powerful than every single being currently existing in this small world. He may even possess enough latent talent to rival the supreme heirs from a medium world... but even then, it won’t be enough for what is coming."

"Once he fully awakens and proves himself, we will have rare gifts sent down to him," the female voice declared firmly. "But it will only be so if Wanwan ultimately forgives him for his negligence."

"We shouldn’t be sneaking looks at her like this," the male warned quietly, his tone turning cautious. "We don’t want those people in the upper heavens finding out about her survival and her existence until she is powerful enough to protect herself, even if we are no longer around to shield her."

"Mmmm," the female’s authoritative voice hummed in deep agreement. "I just don’t know when I will be able to see her face again after this trial. I just pray she will find more talents during her journey, the more she gathers, the better it will be. And her cubs too... it will definitely be good for her to raise them entirely by herself so that their souls remain close to her. They will all be added to her total strength when the final time comes."

The female voice shifted, turning its attention toward a smaller digital frequency. "Weiwei?"

"Yes, Mother system," a soft, instantly submissive digital voice came forth from the lower channels.

"After your structural upgrade is complete, you will immediately return to active duty and take proper care of the princess."

"Yes, Mother system," Weiwei replied flawlessly.

"And Weiwei," the male added, dropping into a cold, terrifying tone that made the digital frequency tremble. "Don’t ever dare to scold the princess like that again. It is not something a low-level system like you has the right to do, regardless of the circumstances."

"I... I apologize, Lord Azreal," Weiwei whispered in absolute terror.

"Mmm."

With that final, cold note, the mysterious cosmic connection dissolved entirely, and the heavy voices faded completely back into the void of the upper realms.

Down inside the sitting room, the two cubs currently being held securely in Lanying’s arms suddenly froze.

At the exact same time, inside the master bedroom, the cub resting against Long Zhan’s chest also stopped wiggling.

The three triplets simultaneously tilted their little heads, their ocean-blue eyes turning incredibly deep, dark, and clear.

For a fleeting, silent moment, the expressions on their smooth baby faces became intensely thoughtful, carrying a cold, ancient weight of wisdom and awareness that absolutely did not belong to a newborn child.

They stared into space, their minds absorbing the faint, residual echoes of the cosmic conversation that had just brushed past their souls.

After a quiet moment, the strange, divine light faded from their eyes, and they instantly relaxed, going right back to their innocent, bubbly babbling as they reached for their bottles.

Inside the quiet master bedroom, the heavy blankets did little to soothe the sudden, violent shift happening within Lin Wan’s body.

The high-grade numbing pill she had taken from the medical store finally lost its effect, the chemical barrier dissolving entirely.

In an instant, a tearing, white-hot pain raved through her lower abdomen and lower back, hitting her with the force of a physical blow.

Lin Wan’s entire body went rigid against the mattress. A sharp, ragged gasp tore from her throat as her fingers violently clawed into the soft sheets, her knuckles turning stark white.

The sheer, delayed agony of delivering three divine cubs all at once slammed into her nervous system, causing an immediate wave of panic to erupt within the room.

"Wanwan!" Long Zhan bellowed, nearly dropping the cub in his right arm as he lunged toward the edge of the mattress.

His violet eyes widened in sheer terror as he saw her face drain of all color, a cold, thick sweat breaking out across her forehead.

Qin Mo’s silver aura flared with frantic desperation. "Her core temperature is dropping! The energy channels are collapsing!"

Terrified of losing her, and completely ignorant of human postpartum care, the two sovereigns instinctively resorted to the only true power they knew. Long Zhan pressed his large palm against her right shoulder, channeling a thick, pure stream of draconic fire essence directly into her veins to warm her freezing body.

At the exact same time, Qin Mo grabbed her left hand, sending a rushing wave of his cold, dense Teng Snake king essence to stabilize her racing pulse.

But their desperate actions only triggered a catastrophic reaction.

The intense, unyielding heat of the dragon core and the freezing, absolute cold of the snake core conflicted violently inside Lin Wan’s weakened meridians.

Instead of curing her, the clashing elements caused a massive internal shockwave. Lin Wan let out a low, agonizing groan, her body trembling violently as the opposing forces ripped through her sensitive tissues.

"Stop! You are going to kill her!"

The bedroom door was violently thrown open, and Lanying rushed inside, her blue gauze dress swirling like a tidal wave.

She took one look at the pale, completely broken state of Lin Wan, whose breathing was shallow and skin looked as fragile as translucent parchment, and instantly recognized the danger.

"Move out of the way, you foolish brutes!" Lanying hissed, using her formidable strength to shove both the dragon and the snake away from the bedboards.

Having gone through the grueling ordeal of childbirth herself, Lanying had a perfect, instinctual idea of exactly what to do.

Moreover, as a pure-blooded daughter of the ancient Mermaid tribe, she possessed the unique, legendary healing attributes of the Sea Sovereigns.

Water was the ultimate source of life and gentle restoration; it did not force its way through the meridians like fire or ice.

Lanying placed both of her soft, glowing hands gently onto Lin Wan’s lower abdomen.

A brilliant, soothing wave of iridescent blue light pulsed from her palms, flowing into Lin Wan’s body like a calm, refreshing ocean tide.

The gentle water energy immediately wrapped around the clashing fire and ice remnants, neutralizing them instantly before wrapping around Lin Wan’s torn muscles and strained organs.

Under the gentle, rhythmic hum of Lanying’s healing waves, the agonizing tension slowly drained from Lin Wan’s face.

Her ragged breathing evened out, her grip on the sheets relaxed, and she finally sank into a deep, peaceful, and much-needed sleep.

As the room settled into silence, the three triplets, who were still being clumsily held by the stiff, anxious males, began to squirm violently.

They let out soft, discontented whines, their tiny human faces wrinkling as they turned their heads toward the bed, desperately wanting their mother’s warmth. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Lanying wiped a bead of sweat from her own forehead, her expression softening as she looked at the restless babies. "Place the cubs directly next to her," she instructed the males quietly. "They need to take in their mother’s presence to stabilize their changing bloodlines, and the natural bond will also accelerate Lin Wan’s recovery."

Long Zhan and Qin Mo didn’t waste a single second. Moving with absolute, breathless gentleness, they stepped up to the massive mattress and carefully laid the three tiny boys down along Lin Wan’s side, tucking them securely against her warm flank.

The moment the triplets felt their mother’s familiar, soothing scent, their squirming stopped completely.

They let out tiny, contented sighs, wiggling their little toes before falling sound asleep against her side.

Seeing that the crisis had passed and the family was safe, Lanying quietly turned and slipped out of the bedroom, leaving the mates alone to guard the nest.

The two towering males stood side by side over the edge of the bed, staring down at the sleeping mother and her three perfectly still children.

For the first time all night, an overwhelming, profound wave of warmth completely flooded their hearts, melting away the residual panic and defensive pride. This was their family. This was what they had sworn their souls to protect.

Long Zhan looked at the peaceful scene, a slow, incredibly smug grin suddenly spreading across his handsome face.

Moving with deliberate slowness, the massive dragon lord carefully climbed onto the opposite side of the mattress, stretching his long legs out and lying down directly next to the babies.

He rested his head on his propped hand, looking up at Qin Mo with an insufferably arrogant smirk before gesturing with his chin toward the open bedroom door. "Go on then, snake. Go back to the kitchen and finish up with your cooking. Make sure it’s perfect for when our Wanwan wakes up."

Qin Mo’s jaw practically snapped as he gnashed his teeth in pure, silent fury. He glared at the smug dragon, realizing with a bitter sting that he had completely picked up a heavy stone only to drop it directly onto his own foot.

Since when did this brainless, brute lizard get this incredibly smart? By volunteering to cook, Qin Mo had essentially exiled himself to the kitchen while the dragon got to cuddle with their female and the cubs.

Qin Mo shot Long Zhan a lethal, promise-of-death glare, but he refrained from making a sound that would disturb the sleeping nest.

He leaned over the bed, gazing down at Lin Wan’s resting face one last time, his silver eyes softening with absolute devotion, before turning on his heel.

He stepped out into the hallway and gently, silently, clicked the bedroom door closed.
