Then again, Colin couldn’t imagine himself getting taken down by a bunch of goblins.

He felt a tap on his arm.

Turning, he saw Kase staring at him.

"I can handle it," Colin said. "I’ll take care of the leader."

"Oh Morninglord, may your radiance protect this man."

Orelia held her Holy Emblem in one hand and placed the other on her companion’s shoulder, reciting a prayer. A faint light enveloped the fully armored Colin as Devout Shield took effect.

Seeing that they were ready, Kase drew a Javelin, his Ice Short Spear and Battle Axe at the ready.

Colin and Kase drank the Weak Antidotes they hadn’t used on their trip north, just in case they were injured and needed to prevent poisoning.

The next moment, the Half-Orc charged into the cavern with a great roar.

Blue flames erupted around his towering, two-meter-plus frame. The heroic spirits of his Orc ancestors answered his call, allowing their successor to enter a state of Frenzy once more.

WHOOSH!

Kase violently hurled the Javelin.

The Refined Javelin instantly pierced straight through the goblin, armor and all. The creature collapsed, unable to make any sound beyond a helpless gurgle.

The goblins, still celebrating their victory, stared at their suddenly ambushed comrade. They didn’t even have time to react before the giant Half-Orc, more than twice their height, was upon them.

Kase held a Battle Axe in one hand and a Short Spear in the other.

He leaped forward. With a flash of cold light, his Ice Short Spear sent one goblin flying. He then spun around and brought his axe down, splitting another goblin’s head in two.

The surrounding goblins shrieked as they grabbed their weapons to counterattack.

In the brief moment it took them to react, two more goblins fell in pools of their own blood.

The goblins that came to their senses swarmed him, striking at the Half-Orc with their Short Spears and Small Scimitars.

However, their weapons struck Kase’s body as if they were hitting a wooden plank. At most, they only managed to tear his clothes and leave a shallow cut.

These minor cuts were quickly squeezed shut by his solid muscles, barely bleeding at all.

With such a vast disparity in strength, Kase was like a god of war descended, slaughtering his way through the goblin horde.

Every thrust of his spear and every swing of his axe claimed a goblin’s life; almost no enemy could withstand a second blow from the Half-Orc. In return, the goblins’ counterattacks were like tickles to him, completely unable to mount any effective resistance.

It was only now that Colin realized just how terrifying Kase’s true strength was.

’If the goblins could only fight him in close quarters, this guy could probably slaughter all forty-plus of them by himself. Of course, that’s assuming the goblins are that stupid.’

Just then, the goblin leader, hiding among its companions, began to shriek.

At its command, several Whipper goblins pulled out a few sturdy Capture Nets and several Javelins from a corner of the cave.

The Hunter goblins also took up their Short Bows and started firing at the Half-Orc, while two of their kin split off to open the beast pens.

Now, every goblin in the entire cave had their eyes fixed on Kase.

’My turn.’ Colin cast Blade Ward on himself.

He rushed out of the chamber, his eyes locked on the area to the side and rear of the goblin leader.

He chanted a Spell.

The moment a silver mist spread across his vision, Colin, now in his Sword Dance stance, spun and swung his Giant Sword behind him. As he chanted the Spell, the blade erupted with a HISS of raging Flame.

Emerald Flame Sword!

The silver mist before him was instantly torn apart by the flames.

With a sickening CRUNCH, Colin’s blade bit into the goblin leader’s shoulder, shattering its shoulder bone. The Flame on the sword then shot out, knocking a nearby goblin to the ground.

Three golden rays shot out from the cave entrance and struck the goblin leader. Its body went rigid as if shocked by electricity, and it collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

CLANG, CLANG.

A few muffled thuds came from his Chest Guard.

Colin felt a series of impacts on his back, as if someone had punched him a few times. ’Probably the goblins’ Short Bows,’ he thought.

’They react pretty fast, but their attacks just tickle.’

Colin turned and extended a hand. Carefully avoiding the Adventurers lying on the ground, he once again chanted the Spell for Burning Hand.

The Whipper goblins preparing to pounce on him from behind had no time to dodge. The bursting flames illuminated their ugly faces, twisted and consumed by terror, before incinerating them completely!

Embers danced in the air.

"GWAAH!!" "Buyege! Buyege!"

’Buyege... I think that means Caster in the Goblin Language...’

As he thought this, Colin calmly watched four Whipper goblins charge toward him.

An ethereal blue flame flared up at the edge of his vision. Where the flame passed, a transparent blue shield materialized.

It was Kase’s shield.

Colin suppressed the urge to cast the Shield spell and instead extended his hands, once again chanting the incantation for Burning Hand.

The goblins’ Small Scimitars hacked against the ethereal blue shield.

Ripples spread across the shield’s surface before it shattered like a soap bubble.

Even though he felt the sting of being stabbed, Colin was too fired up to care.

Flames erupted again, like a giant, scorching maw instantly swallowing the goblins.

Digging his boots in, Colin tightened his grip on his Giant Sword.

Legs, waist, arms... Experience born from endless training drove his body, allowing Colin to focus all his strength into the blade.

WHOOSH!

A burning goblin, along with the flames engulfing it, was sliced in two.

That terrifying strike completely shattered the goblins’ remaining morale.

The damned little creatures let out a cacophony of panicked squawks and fled deeper into the cave, taking the Wargs with them.

A moment later, not a single figure was left in the chamber.

"That’s it?" Kase spat on the ground.

Colin said, "They probably have a secret passage in there. Doesn’t matter, we’ve rescued the people anyway."

As he spoke, he glanced over at Orelia.

A few more Warg corpses now lay near the cave entrance where she and Ale were, likely killed by Ale’s Magic.

Just then, one of the Adventurers lying on the ground shouted, "No, sirs, there’s something else inside!"

Colin immediately looked at the Adventurers who had arrived before them.

There were five people in this Adventurer party.

They wore only the most basic Leather Armor, their weapons were gone, and they were covered in injuries.

Seeing their condition, Colin was reminded of when he and Kase had first come here to gather herbs.

Of course, back then, they had had it much harder than these Adventurers.

The words had barely left his mouth when a goblin’s bloodcurdling scream suddenly echoed from the passage deeper in the cave.

Immediately after, a tall figure emerged slowly from the passage, its head bowed.
