I Just Wanted to Raise My Son... Why Is Everyone Challenging Me?
Chapter 23: Questions.
Kael walked towards the priest, as he gently patted Sylas’s head. "You’re telling me to get rid of this child?"
"Such a bold claim for you to say that it’s easier to make babies again and again."
A small sigh escaped through Kael’s mouth as he directed his mana-covered hand towards the priest.
"I would have killed you, but I don’t want to stain my hands once again."
The priest’s body shivered tremendously, his gaze travelled across the room as he tried to look for a way to get out of there safely.
"No... I messed up really badly."
The priest started turning towards the door that was behind Kael and started running. "My lord, I’ll pay for what I did in the future, but for now, please save me from this monster."
The priest thought as he tightened his grip on the rosary.
Kael’s gaze did not leave the man, tracking him until he reached the door. Then Kael flicked his finger, releasing a small bullet of mana that shot forward with deadly precision. It struck the priest’s thigh, leaving a large hole torn through it.
The priest fell onto the ground, grabbed the place where he had just been hit, and a huge scream of agony left his mouth. "AHHHH!!!"
The mana was so dense that the blood of the priest stopped flowing inside the bloodstream, leading to his thighs.
"You run quite fast," Kael said as he walked towards him.
"I’ll not waste any more time on a trivial subject like this because it’s soon time for Sylas’s meal." He said as he directed his hand towards the priest once again.
His mana poured out through his hand, making its way toward the priest before entering his body. It moved through his system, targeting the sleep points, and gently pressed them. The next moment, the priest collapsed into unconsciousness.
Kael’s gaze lingered on the man for a while before it turned towards the slab on which the count and the countess were lying.
A thought lingered inside his mind. "If I help them both, then it’ll make them indebted to me."
A smirk appeared on his face as he muttered under his breath. "And I can use that to the benefit of my family." His gaze turned towards Sylas, then back at the slab.
He stepped forward without hesitation, once again releasing his mana from his body. It shot outward and moved toward the count and countess, where a twisted mixture of pure and dark mana still lingered around them.
Kael’s mana clashed with the mixture the moment it made contact. The room suddenly trembled as a flash erupted from the collision.
But the next instant, the flash made through the collision disappeared, and the slab, which was covered with the mixture of mana, had finally been freed.
The moment the mana enveloping the couple vanished, a strange movement rippled through their bodies as they began to twitch faintly. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Soon after, both of them stirred and slowly regained consciousness, still struggling to comprehend what was happening around them. Both remained lying on the slab, but then the count’s gaze fell on Kael, who was standing a few meters away from them.
"W-who are you?" The count muttered in a shaky voice.
Silence fell over the chamber, but then Kael decided to break it. "You both did you take some kind of weird substances?"
The count fixed his posture as he got back up to his knees and sat on the slab. "Substances? What are you talking about?"
A small sigh escaped through Kael’s mouth as he continued. "Do you know where you’re right now?"
"I don’t know, and that’s why I asked who you are."
"I don’t care about what you’ll do to me, but don’t bring my family into the political war."
Kael’s gaze lingered on him for a while, then shifted towards his wife. "Did you follow the holy order run by ’the black order’?"
The count raised an eyebrow, leaned slightly forward. "What? Are you saying that I’m a traitor? How dare you talk like that regarding the vessel of his majesty the emperor?"
Kael took a few steps forward. "Only answer what you’re asked, understood?" he said coldly.
At the same moment, his mana shot toward the count and instantly wrapped around him. The oppressive force was enough to make the count tremble in fear, his body shaking uncontrollably under its pressure.
The count’s eyes widened, and sweat filled his entire face. "Y-you’re committing treason."
"Did you follow that priest?" Kael pointed towards the unconscious body of the high priest.
The count’s gaze turned towards them, and instantly he shook his head. "I don’t even know who he is, and why are you questioning a noble?"
A thought lingered inside Kael’s mind. "Aristocrats are as dumb as they were back then."
Without wasting any time, Kael repeated the same question. "Are you acquainted with that man?"
The count paused, looked at Kael in disbelief that his authority wasn’t working on him. But then he broke the silence and gave in to answering the questions. "No, I’m not."
"Why were you both praising the goddess of these people?"
A strange sense of worry alongside confusion appeared on the count’s face. "A goddess? What do you mean by that?"
The count took a small pause, and then continued. "I’m an atheist."
Kael’s expressions didn’t falter, as a thought lingered inside his mind. "An atheist? I think I’ve reached the conclusion I needed."
