Chapter 34: Improvements

"So, the Argenta Family’s unique magic... just how far can you regenerate with it?" as the two of them takes their remaining time of use for this combat ground to rest, Medea opens up yet another conversation as she begins to calm down from the wild, up and down of an emotional ride, the question making her junior pause as if he’s thinking about something.

"Cannot tell anyone outside the family about it? It’s fine, I guess I’d stay silent too if someone suddenly asked me something about how Blade Enchantment Magic works..." taking his silence as unwillingness to speak about his family’s ’unique magic’ she said as a follow-up, preferring not to make the air awkward once more when it just barely recovered from being one.

’Unique magic? Regenerate?’ It was, in fact, completely different from what Medea had assumed, the sole reason as to why Novus paused hearing her question being the fact that he’s still quite confused after all that just happened.

’...Did Senior Medea really think of my talent as my family’s unique magic?’ he then concluded with a question that he already pretty much knows the answer to, making him feel relieved, as even when she has already discovered most of the depth of his combat prowess, she clearly still doesn’t know the true nature of it.

"Senior Medea, isn’t it unfair for me to reveal something like that without anything in exchange?" breaking the short silence after her previous words, he asked with a slightly bargaining tone, not one that a person uses when dealing with unknown business partners, but rather a tone that someone will use when haggling against a long- known close friend.

"You’re right, let me think about a good thing to exchange that information with..." She pauses, closing her eyes for a moment as if pretending to think before abruptly opening them again as if she just recalled something.

"Still, how many times do I have to say it, it’s Lady Medea for you, Junior Novus" she pointed out with a bit of playful frustration in her voice, staring at the young man with an entertained expression on her face, feeling glad that she can talk to someone just like this.

"How about exchanging that for something as well?" he replied in slight tease as he stood up, the pain from all the damage he had sustained during their spar now far gone from his mind, making him feel quite comfortable as if he felt like something had grown once again, and that something was pointed out to him as the system screen appears right in front of him as if to show where that sense of progress comes from.

’Mastery increased drastically just from that one fight... that’s usually how much I increase my mastery in a single entry, right? Unbelievable...’ thinking of the drastic increase in his talent’s mastery level, Novus couldn’t help but start thinking to himself, wondering whether it was just a one-time thing or if he truly had just found a better way for him to increase his mastery even quicker than before.

"Junior Novus? Novus? You there?"

Before he can even continue with this line of thought, though, he was interrupted as the eastern lady in front of him began waving her hand as if to snap him out of his daze, which he does as he tries to catch up with whatever it is that she might’ve just said.

"I’m sorry, I was lost for a while there, Senior Medea, what was it that you’re saying again?" he asked with a straight face as if there was nothing wrong with what he had just said.

’This little shit... had it been any other lady, they might’ve slapped him to death saying something like that...’ she just pressed down on the annoyance as she thought of this to herself, taking a deep, calming breath to stabilize the boiling anger before she repeated what she was saying when he was dazed, only in a little more aggressive voice.

"I said you’re too damn greedy, aren’t you, even trying to fish benefits from me just for that? What Son of the Argenta Family, you’re just one hell of a scammer!" she pointed out with annoyance still apparent in her voice.

"Senior Medea, that’s not greed, you know? It’s not like I am forcing you to go with that deal now, am I?" he said with a smile on his face as he began stretching himself, getting a feel around of his body, as he knows well that after this, he will just wait some more before he can enter the Evolution Domain once again.

"Whatever, the way you propose the deal is too greedy either way, so you’re still greedy." Refusing to back down, she retorted as she turned her gaze away from him, not really intending to entertain any more of his words, but failing to do so as she heard his next line.

"That’s something a spoiled young lady of a noble family will say." he pointed out, the lady feeling offended as the words were carried towards her ears, but not in the way that the underclassman expected her to be offended. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I AM a spoiled young lady of a noble family, though?" Hearing that remark, she stood up as well, pointing to herself with a shocked expression as if she had just heard something unbelievably offensive, not because she was called a spoiled young lady, but because she was called as if she didn’t look like one.

"Heh, doesn’t seem like it to me." Words just continue to go back and forth, as if the two of them refuse to not have anything to argue about.

"You just won’t let me win, will you?" she pointed out with a tinge of being aggrieved in her tone, partnered with the helpless, pitiful look in her eyes; she would’ve fooled anyone else had it not been this young man who saw what sort of person she truly is when she fights.

"Let me have it, you took my arms after all." he pointed out, causing that façade of helplessness to quickly collapse as her face was replaced with genuine embarrassment for him pointing out what she just did.

"Wow, rich coming from the scammer who can regenerate his arms at will." Still, she refuses to answer his snide remarks, pointing out this fact to nullify the damage of the last attack she had done.

"Doesn’t change the fact that you still took my arms," he retorted.

"Doesn’t change the fact that you can still regenerate it at will," she answered to the remark with the ’I won’t listen to this anymore’ tone.

They would’ve gone on and continued this petty fight for much longer had it not been for the two of them being surprised by the notification of a mechanical voice that resounded from all across the room.

"Five minutes remaining. Please prepare to vacate the facility or proceed to extend your reservation."
