Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Forging the Aegis

Lucifer strode into the Aether-Forge.

The subterranean cavern beneath Zephyria hummed with massive suppressed energy. The blue and purple glow of the Void-Core Reactor illuminated the dark metal scaffolding and the pulsing crimson veins of Vexia’s Sanguine Grid.

Dwarf King Thrain was shouting orders at the automated assembly arms. He directed the continuous forging of the remaining Arcane Sentinel Titans. The massive machines clanked and sparked in the background.

"Warlord!" Thrain bellowed and spotted Lucifer on the catwalk. The dwarf wiped sweat from his singed beard and dropped his heavy hammer. "You are walking! The blood-leech and the holy girl said you were cooked."

"I was," Lucifer replied smoothly. "Now I’m not."

He walked down the metal stairs and approached the raised dais where the Void-Core Reactor hummed.

Elara and Sarah followed closely with their respective auras pushing back the heat of the forge. Vexia dropped from the ceiling and her red bat wings snapped shut as she landed on the catwalk.

"The reactor is stable, Grand Marshal," Vexia reported with a smug satisfied smirk on her pale face.

"My blood grid is mitigating the atmospheric drag perfectly. We are hovering at fifty thousand feet without issue."

"It’s not enough," Lucifer stated coldly.

He did not stop at the console. He walked directly up to the ten-foot sphere of the Void-Core Reactor.

"The Abyssal Sovereign is going to push the full weight of its dimension into our atmosphere," Lucifer explained and his void-swirling eyes locked onto the pulsing engine.

"A localized atmospheric dome keeps us breathing, but it won’t stop the physics of the Abyss from tearing this mountain apart. We need an absolute barrier. We need a planetary law."

Lucifer opened his Dimensional Vault.

He reached into the dark spatial rift and pulled out the Crown of the First King!

[Item: Crown of the First King (World-Anchor)]

[Tier: Mythic Artifact]

[Status: Dormant.]

The heavy unpolished iron crown looked incredibly crude next to the sleek glowing Precursor technology of the reactor.

But the moment Lucifer pulled it into the cavern, the immense grounding weight of the artifact slammed into the room.

The frantic sparks from the assembly line seemed to slow down. The intense heat of the blast furnaces felt muted.

The World-Anchor actively suppressed chaotic energy and enforced stability and rigid physical laws.

"The Crown," Sarah breathed and her starlight eyes were wide. "It is so heavy. It feels like standing on solid earth."

"It is the earth," Lucifer corrected her.

He did not place the Crown on his head. He held it out toward the humming Void-Core Reactor.

"System," Lucifer commanded with his voice a low echoing rumble of pure Void magic. "Target the Void-Core Reactor. Target the Crown of the First King. Initiate Artifact Fusion."

[System Warning: Artifact Fusion Requested.]

[Target 1: Mythic Engine (Precursor Tech).]

[Target 2: Mythic World-Anchor (Terrestrial Law).]

[Compatibility: 0.01%. Fusion highly likely to result in catastrophic detonation.]

"Compatibility is a suggestion," Lucifer said smoothly.

He did not cancel the command. He activated his Warlord core and drew on the absolute reality-bending power of his Level 50 Archmage capacity.

"Apply the Apex Multiplier," Lucifer roared.

[Divine Talent: Apex Multiplier Activated!]

[Applying 10,000x multiplier to Fusion Compatibility and Artifact Resonance...]

[Bypassing Safety Protocols.]

Lucifer slammed the heavy iron crown directly into the center of the glowing blue and purple sphere of the Void-Core Reactor.

The collision did not create a spark. It created a shockwave of absolute silence.

The deafening hum of the forge ceased entirely. The roaring blast furnaces went quiet. For a single terrifying microsecond, the entire floating city of Zephyria hung in a state of complete magical stasis!

Then, the fusion finalized.

The heavy crude iron of the Crown melted instantly and was completely absorbed by the Precursor engine.

The blue and purple light of the reactor shifted and violently flashed with a brilliant blinding iridescent white light.

[System: Fusion Complete.]

[New Core Established: The Zephyrian Aegis.]

[Status: Projecting Planetary Barrier...]

The blinding white light did not stay in the reactor. It exploded outward!

The light raced up through the black stone of the mountain. It surged through the pulsing crimson veins of the Sanguine Grid and flooded the ten thousand Cryo-Pylons on the perimeter.

Lucifer turned away from the reactor. "To the surface. Now."

He activated Zephyr’s Grace and blurred out of the Aether-Forge. Elara, Sarah, and Vexia followed him instantly.

They burst out of the central keep and onto the high balcony overlooking the city.

The sky above Zephyria was a colossal terrifying expanse of deep black space. It was dominated by the massive burning purple eye of the Abyssal Sovereign staring down at them from the dimensional rift.

But the view was changing.

The blinding white light from the reactor erupted from the ten thousand Cryo-Pylons simultaneously.

It did not shoot straight up like an attack. The light arced outward and formed a massive colossal iridescent dome that rapidly expanded over the entire five-mile radius of the floating city.

The barrier pushed upward into the stratosphere. It slammed into the massive encroaching purple clouds of Abyssal magic attempting to sink onto the city and violently repelled them.

The dark clouds hissed and burned away, unable to touch the new shield.

The dome closed perfectly at the apex and sealed Zephyria entirely within an impenetrable shimmering bubble of physical law and infinite energy!

[System Global Update: Planetary Barrier Established.]

[Location: Zephyria.]

[Status: Sovereign World. Absolute Immunity to external spatial manipulation and dimensional curses.]

Lucifer stood on the balcony with his hands resting on the stone railing. The harsh freezing wind of the high altitude was completely gone.

The air inside the iridescent dome was crisp, calm, and perfectly stable.

The massive burning purple eye of Malphas glared down at the barrier. It pulsed with pure unadulterated malice, but the gaze no longer exerted physical crushing gravity on the city.

The Warlord had locked the demon out!

"It’s beautiful," Sarah whispered and looked up at the shimmering translucent shield. "It looks like the surface of a pearl."

"It’s not a shield," Lucifer corrected her coldly. His void-swirling eyes tracked the massive Abyssal Gargoyles and Void-Rays swarming harmlessly outside the dome with their claws scraping uselessly against the iridescent barrier. "It is a border."

Elara gripped her violet-flaming spear. The Eclipse Valkyrie felt the absolute unbreakable stability of the magic.

"The Abyss cannot enter," Elara noted and a fierce smile touched her lips. "They cannot teleport inside. They cannot drop a singularity on us. We are completely isolated from their magic."

"We are," Lucifer agreed.

He turned away from the sky and looked down at the sprawling courtyards of Zephyria.

The thirteen million mortal soldiers were cheering wildly. They saw the massive impenetrable dome protecting them from the monsters outside.

They saw the Warlord standing on the high balcony delivering on his promise of absolute safety.

"They think the war is over because we built a wall," Vexia scoffed and hovered nearby. The Sanguine Princess crossed her arms. "Mortals are so short-sighted."

"They are resting," Lucifer said smoothly. "Let them."

He did not share the soldiers’ relief. A wall, no matter how strong, was just a cage if you never left it. The Abyssal Sovereign was not going to give up. It was going to sit outside the dome and continuously batter the shield until the end of time.

Lucifer was not going to wait for the shield to crack!

"Celeste," Lucifer commanded over the comms rune.

"Grand Marshal," the High Ranger replied instantly.

"The defense phase is over," Lucifer announced and his voice dropped to a low dangerous rumble. "We are not hiding in the sky."

"What are your orders?" Celeste asked and her voice was tight with adrenaline.

Lucifer looked at his commanders.

"We strike back," Lucifer declared.

He opened his Dimensional Vault.

He reached into the dark spatial rift and pulled out the massive glowing purple spatial cores he had harvested from the fallen Doom-Bringers in the Royal Vault.

The massive Mythic-tier demonic hearts pulsed with terrifying localized void energy.

"I have the cores of the Demon King’s elite vanguard," Lucifer stated smoothly and held the heavy glowing purple crystals up to the light of the new dome. "I am not going to leave them in a box."

He turned to the Valkyrie.

"Elara. Go down to the courtyards," Lucifer ordered. "I want the Aether-Steel Dragoons lined up. All of them."

"You are going to upgrade the machines?" Elara asked and her golden eyes widened slightly as she looked at the Mythic cores.

"I am going to evolve them," Lucifer corrected her. "The Dragoons are built for terrestrial combat. They hover over dirt and ice.

If we are going to fight the Abyssal hordes in their own dimension, I need cavalry that can charge through the vacuum of space."

He tossed the glowing purple cores into the air and caught them effortlessly.

"We built the shield," Lucifer said with a cold predatory smirk touching his lips. "Now, we build the sword."
