I Transmigrated Into A Goddess Body In Another World: But I'm a Man
Chapter 5: The Reputation Problem
The chamber descended into absolute disorder.Mason stood frozen near the bed, still holding the small wooden carving Draca had given him, while an increasing number of extremely attractive men argued loudly about visitation rights as though the Goddess of Syria were public property.
Zereth dramatically clutched his chest. "I arrived first. That establishes emotional priority."
Vilor scoffed while adjusting his immaculate robes. "You arrived first because you lack dignity, not devotion."
Kali folded his muscular arms. "None of you should be here without combat clearance."
Nymera leaned against a pillar lazily, twirling a strand of violet hair. "I simply came for entertainment."
Mason blinked slowly."How many are there?"
Athlian answered inside his mind with dangerous amusement.’Not all of them. Thankfully.’
"That is not comforting."
Draca remained standing beside the chair, silently observing the chaos unfold. Unlike the others, he made no attempt to approach Mason, no claim of familiarity, no possessiveness. His calm presence felt almost unreal compared to the overwhelming energy filling the room.
Saleem appeared at the doorway, clearly reconsidering every life choice that had led him to this moment.
"My Goddess," he said carefully, "shall I remove... the gathering?"
"Yes," Mason said immediately.
"No!" several lovers protested at once.
Zereth stepped forward dramatically. "We came out of concern!"
"And curiosity," Nymera added.
"And emotional distress," Vilor said.
Kali nodded solemnly. "And strategic affection."
Mason stared at them."You formed a committee."
Athlian laughed so hard Mason felt it echo through their shared consciousness.
’You cultivated them.’
"I did not cultivate anything!"
’You absolutely did.’
Draca’s quiet voice cut gently through the noise."The Goddess requires rest."
The room fell strangely silent...every lover turned toward him.Recognition passed between them instantly.
Nymera’s lips curved knowingly. "Ah. The human."
Zereth squinted. "You’re still alive?"
Vilor examined him thoughtfully. "So this is the famous one."
Mason looked between them in confusion."Famous?"
Athlian sighed internally.’They know about him.’
Draca remained calm under scrutiny. "I came only to confirm her safety."
Nymera smirked. "You always come only for that."
Something unspoken moved beneath the words.Mason suddenly realized something deeply alarming.
They all knew Draca mattered differently. And Draca knew it too,he simply never used it.
Mason cleared his throat loudly."Everyone... please sit."
They obeyed immediately. That terrified him more than disobedience.
Within seconds, divine nobles, warriors, mages, and one suspiciously relaxed witch arranged themselves around the chamber like students awaiting instruction.
Mason sat slowly, trying to appear authoritative while internally panicking.
Athlian guided him gently.’This is your court now. Control the energy.’
He inhaled and spoke."There will be... changes."
The lovers exchanged curious glances.
Zereth leaned forward eagerly. "Romantic changes?"
"No."
Vilor raised a brow. "Scandalous changes?"
"No."
Nymera grinned. "Dangerous changes?"
"Possibly."
They perked up immediately.
Mason continued carefully. "I survived an assassination attempt. The palace security failed. The kingdom faces instability.
Therefore... my priorities are shifting."
Silence followed. For the first time, none of them joked.
Athlian noticed it too.’They listen when I speak seriously.’
Zereth nodded slowly. "You are entering a ruling phase."
Vilor added thoughtfully, "You do this every few centuries."
Mason blinked. "She does?"
Athlian answered.’Briefly.’ 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Nymera studied him more closely now."You truly feel different."
Mason forced a calm smile. "Growth should not alarm you."
Kali nodded approvingly. "A stronger ruler inspires loyalty."
Draca watched quietly, eyes thoughtful.
Mason raised a hand. "Additionally... personal boundaries will be established."
The entire room froze.
Zereth whispered, horrified, "Boundaries?"
"Yes."
Nymera laughed outright. "The Goddess invented boundary violations."
Mason ignored her. "Visits will require an invitation."
Gasps filled the chamber.
Vilor placed a hand over his heart. "You wound us."
Kali looked genuinely confused. "So... no surprise midnight entrances?"
"No."
Zereth looked devastated.
Athlian murmured approvingly inside Mason’s mind.
’You are reshaping expectations without rejecting them completely. Clever.’
Mason felt strangely proud.
Draca spoke softly from his seat. "That seems reasonable."
All eyes turned toward him again.
Nymera smirked. "Of course the human approves restraint."
Draca met her gaze calmly. "Respect is not restraint."
The words settled heavily.Mason felt Athlian’s emotions stir again.
Before tension could deepen, Saleem stepped forward.
"My Goddess, the council awaits your appearance regarding border disturbances."
Perfect escape...Mason stood immediately. "Meeting dismissed."
The lovers rose reluctantly.
Zereth bowed dramatically. "We shall await our next scheduled affection."
"There is no schedule," Mason said firmly.
They ignored him completely. One by one they exited, exchanging amused looks.
Nymera paused at the doorway, glancing back at Mason.
"You accepted his gift," she said lightly, nodding toward the carving. Then she left.
The chamber finally quieted.Only Mason and Draca remained.
The Quiet After ChaosMason exhaled deeply and sank back into his chair.
"I think I just restructured a divine social system."
Athlian chuckled.’You handled it well.’
Draca approached slowly. "You did."
Mason looked up. "You’re not shocked?"
"I am," Draca admitted. "But not displeased."
He hesitated before continuing."You seem... lighter."
Mason studied him carefully."Does that bother you?"
Draca shook his head. "No. It feels as though you are finally allowing yourself to breathe."
The sincerity unsettled Mason again.
Athlian spoke softly.’He always saw me beyond divinity.’
Mason turned the wooden carving in his hands. The tiny figure sat peacefully beneath a carved tree, untouched by crowns or ceremony.
"You made this during patrol?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
Draca answered without hesitation."Because you once sounded tired."
His words were simple and honest.Dangerous in its gentleness.
Mason felt Athlian’s emotions surge; memories of refusing kindness, pushing away sincerity, hiding vulnerability behind indulgence and control.
"I wasn’t kind to you," Mason said quietly.
Draca smiled faintly. "You were honest about your distance."
"That still hurts."
"Yes," he said simply.
Mason looked away toward the window.
"I don’t fully understand myself right now."
Draca nodded. "Then I will wait until you do."
The words lingered between them.
Athlian whispered inside their shared soul.
’He has always waited.’
For the first time, she did not sound afraid.
High above the palace, unseen by mortals, silver light shimmered within the clouds.
Elthar observed silently.Below him, the Goddess Athlian spoke gently with a human she once rejected, dismissed her lovers with unexpected restraint, and reshaped divine behavior patterns overnight.
He frowned slightly...change continued. And change among gods was rarely harmless.Yet something else troubled him more.
The Goddess seemed... happier and balanced.Alive in a way centuries of records had never described.
Elthar murmured to himself, "What are you becoming, Athlian?"
Inside the chamber, Mason rose at last.
"I should attend the council."
Draca stepped aside respectfully.
As Mason passed him, he paused."Walk with me."
Draca blinked in surprise."You wish for my presence?"
"Yes."
They walked together through the palace corridors, sunlight spilling across marble floors as servants bowed.
Mason felt less alone than he had since arriving in this world.
Athlian spoke softly.’Perhaps... I was wrong to fear him.’
Mason smiled faintly."Maybe we both were."
Behind them, unseen threads of fate began shifting quietly.
The goddess who once refused love had taken the first step toward understanding it.And the human who never sought divinity was slowly becoming the ruler this realm truly needed.
