I Transmigrated Into A Goddess Body In Another World: But I'm a Man
Chapter 7: The Goddess Who Changed
The palace gardens stretched beneath the afternoon sun, terraces of silver-leafed trees and flowing fountains reflecting soft golden light. Birds made of living crystals glided between branches, their wings chiming faintly with magic.
Mason walked beside Draca in silence.
For once, no nobles chased them,No lovers burst through doors,No assassins attempted murder.
Just extremely quiet and somehow... that felt more dangerous.
Athlian’s presence lingered thoughtfully within his mind.’You chose peace instead of retreat.’
"I chose fresh air," Mason replied internally. "Your palace feels like a reality show waiting to explode."
She laughed softly.’You are not wrong.’
They descended a marble pathway winding through blooming moonflowers.
Servants kept their distance, sensing the unusual intimacy of the moment.
Draca finally spoke."You handled the council well."
Mason glanced at him. "You sound surprised."
"I am," Draca admitted honestly. "You listened before commanding. That is rare among rulers."
Mason snorted lightly. "Where I come from, leaders who don’t listen usually crash their companies."
Draca frowned slightly. "Companies?"
"Long story...Different world."
Draca accepted the strange answer without pressing. He always did that allowed mystery without demanding ownership of it.
Athlian stirred quietly.’He trusts without needing explanation.’
Mason noticed it too.Every other person in this world reacted to Athlian as a goddess first.
Draca reacted to who stood before him. That difference unsettled Mason more than divine politics.
They reached a shaded pavilion overlooking the city below.
From here, Syria Kingdom spread endlessly; white towers, marketplaces alive with movement, distant training grounds where soldiers practiced beneath banners bearing Athlian’s symbol.
For the first time, Mason truly saw it.
Not as scenery but as responsibility.Thousands of lives are now
depending on him.
His stomach tightened.
"I never asked for this," he murmured.
Draca rested his arms against the stone railing."Few rulers do."
Mason turned toward him."You speak like an experience."
Draca smiled faintly. "I have watched rulers my entire life."
A pause lingered.
Then Mason asked quietly, "Why stay loyal to someone who pushed you away?"
Draca did not answer immediately.Wind moved gently through the pavilion.
Finally, he spoke.
"Because love does not become false simply because it is not returned."
The honesty struck harder than any confession.
Athlian fell silent inside their shared consciousness.
Mason felt her emotions shift; guilt, 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
tenderness, and regret layered together.
"You never hated her?" Mason asked.
Draca shook his head."No."
"Not even when she chose others?"
A small smile appeared."She never promised me anything."
Simple.
Mason exhaled slowly. That kind of love felt terrifying.
Athlian whispered faintly.’I did not know how to face something real.’
Mason understood....Pleasure was easy and Control was safe. But sincerity demanded vulnerability.
Before he could respond, hurried footsteps approached.
Saleem appeared at the edge of the garden, slightly out of breath.
"My Goddess."
He straightened instinctively."What happened?"
Saleem bowed quickly."The nobles have begun spreading rumors regarding today’s manifestation."
Of course they had.
"What rumors?"
Saleem hesitated."That the divine entity addressed you... differently."
Mason sighed.Politics never rested.
"They believe the throne itself questions you," Saleem added carefully.
Athlian’s irritation flared.’Fools.’
Mason rubbed his temple."So now I have a reputation problem."
Draca crossed his arms calmly."Fear spreads faster than truth."
Saleem nodded. "Some council members already suggest increased oversight of divine authority."
Mason blinked."They want to supervise a goddess?"
"Yes."
He almost laughed.Corporate politics truly existed across all universes.
He began pacing slowly."They are testing boundaries," he said. "Seeing how far they can push."
Athlian approved.’You understand power
structures quickly.’
"I’ve survived office politics. This is just the divine version."
Draca watched him thoughtfully."What will you do?"
Mason stopped walking.
A plan formed...Measured and Strategic.
"We do not silence rumors," he said. "We redirect them."
Saleem tilted his head. "Redirect?"
He smiled slightly."If they think change is weakness, we show them change is strength."
Athlian felt excitement stir.’You are about to do something bold.’
"Very," Mason admitted internally.
He turned to Saleem."Announce a public appearance tomorrow."
Saleem blinked. "Public?"
"Yes. Open court."
Shock crossed his face.
"The Goddess has not held open court in decades."
"Then it’s overdue."
Draca’s eyes warmed with approval."You intend to face the people directly."
"Yes," Mason said. "If nobles doubt me, I gain legitimacy somewhere they cannot control."
Athlian laughed softly.’You fight politics with visibility.’
Mason grinned."Transparency terrifies manipulators."
Saleem bowed deeply."It will be arranged immediately."
He hurried away as silence returned.
Draca studied him carefully."You are different."
Mason sighed. "Everyone keeps saying that."
Draca shook his head gently."No. I mean... you seem free."
The word lingered.
Athlian reacted strongly.’I have never felt free.’
Mason leaned against the railing."You were trapped too," he told her silently.
’By expectation.’
"And fear."
She did not deny it.
Below them, the city buzzed with life. For the first time since arriving, Mason felt aligned with Athlian rather than resisting her existence.
Two souls learning from each other. Not fighting for dominance but balance.
Then..a sudden ripple of magic passed through the garden.
Draca’s hand moved instantly to his sword.
"You felt that?"
"Yes," Mason said quietly.
Athlian’s awareness expanded outward.’Someone entered the palace grounds.’
Mason’s eyes narrowed."Assassin?"
’No...’
She hesitated.’Something older.’
From the far end of the garden, a figure emerged slowly from the shimmering air itself.
A woman cloaked in silver mist. Her presence bent light around her.
Servants nearby froze mid-motion, unaware she existed.
Only Mason and Draca could see her.
Draca stepped protectively forward."State your purpose."
The woman ignored him.Her gaze fixed entirely on Mason.
Ancient eyes filled with knowing."You truly replaced her," she said calmly.
Mason’s heart pounded."I didn’t replace anyone."
The woman smiled faintly."Interesting answer."
Athlian’s voice trembled.’I know her.’
"Who is she?" Mason asked internally.
A pause.Then...
’One of the Old Ones.’
The woman stepped closer."I wondered when the anomaly would stabilize," she said. "A mortal mind inside divine flesh... rewriting fate."
Draca’s stance hardened."You will not approach further."
She glanced at him briefly, amused.
"The loyal human. You were always part of the equation."
Mason felt tension rising."What do you want?"
Her expression softened unexpectedly."To warn you."
The air grew colder."The gods are watching. Some with curiosity."
Her eyes darkened."Others with hunger."
Athlian shivered.
Ascension hunters...The woman continued.
"You have disrupted a cycle older than this kingdom. That eye you saw? It was only the first."
Mason swallowed."How many are there?"
She smiled faintly."Enough to start wars among heavens."
Silence settled heavily. Then she stepped back, already fading.
"One more thing, mortal king within a goddess..."
Mason stiffened.
"Love carefully."
Her gaze flicked briefly toward Draca."Because hearts change destiny faster than power ever will."
And then she vanished.
The garden returned to normal, birds resumed singing.Wind moved again.
Draca lowered his sword slowly."...We are attracting powerful attention."
Mason exhaled shakily."Apparently I broke divine reality."
Athlian spoke quietly.’No.’A pause.
’We did.’
Mason looked toward the horizon.
Enemies gathering.
Gods watching.
Politics rising. And tomorrow, he would stand before an entire kingdom.
He smiled faintly."Well," he murmured, "no pressure."
Beside him, Draca chuckled softly.
And deep within their shared soul, Athlian felt something unfamiliar bloom...Hope.
Because for the first time in centuries, the Goddess of Syria was no longer alone. And destiny had officially begun moving toward war.
