I Was Not Meant To Exist

The sound of footsteps echoed through the corridor with white walls, the scent of medicine spreading strongly with every step of the two girls.

Everyone lowered their heads and greeted one of the girls. She wore black trousers and a black winter jacket, her dark red hair swaying with each step, her blue eyes smiling at everyone who greeted her.

Meanwhile, the other girl only received empty stares from the people they passed.

Her long brown coat swayed with every step, her cream trousers matching her cream shirt, her face slightly lowered under every gaze she received, her golden eyes not looking at anyone.

The steps of the two girls brought them to one area of the hospital, the corridor they passed becoming quieter.

The golden-eyed girl looked around the corridor she was passing through, she whispered to the dark red-haired girl beside her.

"Rina...why is that scammer being treated in this area?"

Katarina looked at the golden-eyed girl and shrugged.

"I don’t know... but it seems he doesn’t like it if the place is too spacious."

The golden-eyed girl nodded slightly, she whispered again.

"I thought he liked luxurious rooms..."

One of Katarina’s eyebrows lifted hearing that whisper, she touched the golden-eyed girl’s shoulder.

"You care quite a lot about Alex, don’t you, Mira? Is it because he saved you?"

Mira looked at Katarina, her golden eyes widened, her expression froze for a moment, the memory of Alex saving her vividly appeared again when Katarina asked, Mira swallowed.

"Care? Impossible..."

Katarina nodded with a teasing smile.

"Is that so..."

Mira fell silent after that, Katarina’s question seemed to trigger her mind to keep recalling the moment Alex saved her, her heart started beating fast again, she gripped her cream trousers.

A question suddenly appeared in her mind, she looked forward and backward to make sure no one was listening, then Mira whispered to Katarina.

"By the way, Alex has holy energy, right?..."

Katarina looked at Mira, her expression turned flat for a moment, but soon a smile formed on her face, she chuckled while covering her mouth.

Mira only looked at Katarina in confusion, while Katarina began to speak.

"It’s already been a few days, you know, and you’re only asking now?..."

Katarina let out a breath, she brushed her long dark red hair.

"That’s surprising, right?..." Mira nodded in agreement hearing Katarina’s words.

Katarina placed her index finger in front of her lips.

"You must keep that a secret. That is a high-level secret."

Mira nodded slightly, she went back to being lost in thought while walking, her mind continued to picture Alex saving her.

’A secret, huh....’

Their steps finally brought them to one of the doors in the corridor.

They both stood in front of the door, Katarina immediately grabbed the handle and opened it without knocking.

Mira’s golden eyes immediately scanned the room. The treatment room was smaller than Julian’s, one bed covered by a curtain was visible beside a long window, in front of the bed there was a white sofa and several seats.

Mira’s heart beat faster, the two of them stepped inside, their steps passing a door that closed the bathroom.

The room felt quiet, one of Mira’s eyebrows lifted, she wanted to ask Katarina about Alex’s whereabouts, but a voice beat her to it. It was Alex’s voice.

Alex pulled the curtain aside, he was standing looking at the view outside the window.

"Damn... you should have knocked first, you made my hea—" his words stopped when he saw Mira.

The two of them stared at each other for a long time, Katarina ignored them and immediately sat on the long sofa.

Meanwhile, Alex smiled slightly at Mira.

"Hello... are you alright, gambler?"

Mira swallowed, her golden eyes widened, her gaze fixed only on Alex while white light surrounded him from the window.

The sound of Katarina clicking her tongue snapped Mira out of her daze.

"You, don’t call her gambler anymore."

Mira had snapped out of it, but her gaze was still fixed on Alex, she saw Alex shrug, she saw Alex wearing a long-sleeved patient outfit, beneath it bandages wrapped around his entire body, she also heard Alex’s voice as he raised both hands toward Katarina.

"Sorry, sorry. It’s a habit..."

Alex shifted his gaze to Mira who was still standing, Mira also saw Alex looking at her.

"Sit..."

Mira nodded slightly and sat beside Katarina, while Alex slowly walked to sit on a chair without a backrest facing them.

A rectangular glass table stood between them.

A rough breath came out of Alex, he held his back which felt sore, he looked at Mira.

"Why did you only come to visit now? You know, my heart hurts knowing that the person I saved with my life didn’t come to visit..."

Mira, hearing Alex’s words, immediately lowered her head, she played with her hands, silence filled the room.

Alex, seeing Mira under pressure, wanted to speak, but Katarina cut him off first.

"Mira is busy... besides, you’re not usually like that."

Alex chuckled, he cracked his fingers.

"I was just joking..."

Katarina leaned her back against the sofa, she brushed her dark red hair.

"Where are Aisy and the others?..."

A breath came out of Alex, he tried to crack his neck but felt pain instead.

"They’re buying snacks, that’s because you took too long..."

Mira, hearing a name she had just heard, looked at Alex and Katarina, she finally asked Alex.

"Aisy?..."

Alex shifted his gaze to Mira, he stroked his chin.

"That’s my younger sister..."

Alex was about to continue but the sound of the door opening was heard, the three of them turned toward the door, the sound of a dispute between a young man and a young woman followed.

"Why are you following me all the time?"

The young man clicked his tongue, he looked at the young woman who asked.

"We’re going to the same destination, how does that make me follow you..."

Veins bulged on the young woman’s forehead, she gritted her teeth.

"Still, you look like you’re following me, don’t tell me you—"

Her words stopped when she felt gazes toward her, both of them turned their attention to Katarina and Alex, and lastly they saw Mira which made them freeze even more, the young man and woman were Ken and Reva.

Their patient clothes were the same as Alex’s but their injuries were far fewer.

Alex looked at Ken and Mira who were frozen, he clicked his tongue.

"Just sit down, you idiots, I’m hungr—"

Alex’s words stopped as another person entered, it was Aril carrying Aisy with his left arm, his injuries were not much different from Alex’s, his right arm was missing.

He felt the silence of the room he entered, his gaze shifted to Alex, Katarina, and lastly he saw Mira sitting beside Katarina.

The three of them stood frozen for a few moments.

Finally Katarina spoke, she looked at the three of them who were frozen, while taking out various kinds of food from her smart bracelet, the aroma of food now filled the room.

"Sit... this scammer is already hungry."

Alex smiled slightly and nodded seeing the food already served, while the three of them slowly sat down.

Reva and Ken sat on the backless sofa on Katarina’s right, while Aril sat beside Alex facing Katarina and Mira, Aril handed Aisy to Alex.

Silence continued even when they all sat together, the fragrant food that had been served couldn’t even bring out a word.

Alex swallowed, his eyes had been glancing at the various foods but the silence held him back, he let out a breath and looked at Ken and Reva first.

"Is there something you want to say?..."

Ken and Reva’s faces turned confused, they looked at each other for a moment, then immediately shook their heads.

"No..."

"Nothing I want to say..." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Alex nodded and shifted his gaze to Katarina. Katarina immediately shrugged and shook her head.

A slight smile formed on Alex’s face, he then turned to his left where Aril remained silent.

"What about you, big boy?"

Aril turned toward Alex, he stayed silent, but Alex could see his pupils moving around.

"Nothing I want to talk about..."

Alex smiled slightly and nodded, then he looked at Aisy’s face in his arms.

"Do you have anything you want to ask, pretty?"

Aisy only stared at Alex, she just played with Alex’s cheeks without saying anything.

Alex chuckled from the ticklish feeling, he shifted his gaze to Mira, the two of them looked at each other for a moment, Alex could see Mira playing with her fingers, he wanted to ask, but Mira interrupted him first, causing everyone to look at her.

"There is something I want to say...."

Alex nodded in understanding, he smiled at Mira.

"Of course... but don’t take too long." Alex glanced at the food on the table that was still steaming.

"Not because I’m hungry, but the food will get cold if it takes too long."

Katarina chuckled seeing Alex lying, while Mira who saw Alex was hungry immediately looked at Aril, she who had been playing with her fingers and silent now began to speak.

"Actually I came here to apologize to you...." Mira bit her lip, a breath escaped her.

"As stated in the news, my father made a contract with demons and became one of those who planned the attacks on the cities, so I..."

Aril’s ear twitched, he interrupted Mira to stop by trying to raise his right hand, but it turned out he had already lost his right arm.

That moment stopped Mira from speaking, and everyone looked at Aril.

A tired breath came out of Aril, he raised his left palm and looked at Mira.

"That’s enough, Mira. I don’t care whether your father conspired or whatever, I don’t want to hear it either...." Aril’s words made Mira lower her head again, while Alex scratched his forehead.

Aril, realizing what he had said, spoke again to Mira.

"I mean, I already got my revenge...."

Mira’s ear twitched, she looked at Aril again, she saw Aril looking at his right arm.

"I don’t care whether your father was involved or not, what matters is I have killed the one who killed my mother."

Silence fell between them before Aril spoke again, he scratched his right back.

"That’s it, that’s all..."

Alex nodded in understanding hearing what Aril said, he looked back at Mira.

"Is there anything else you want to say?..."

Mira stayed silent for a moment, she thought until she remembered something, she immediately looked at everyone in the room.

"I... I want to thank you all, you went to search for the flower of life and death."

Mira smiled slightly.

"Rina gave it to me and taught me the final touch...."

Mira smiled widely and looked at everyone, her tears fell without her realizing, her lips trembled, she gripped her cream trousers covering her knees.

"Thank you, thank you for going to find that flower. With that flower I spoke to my mother...."

Alex swallowed, he covered his mouth with his palm, he would usually boast, but he held himself back this time.

The room became silent, Katarina patted Mira’s shoulder, and spoke to the others.

"I think we can eat now..."

Alex’s eyes widened, hearing that he immediately reached for the food in front of him, but Aril’s hand rose again making everyone look at him.

"There is one more thing I want to talk about..."

Veins appeared on Alex’s forehead, he gritted his teeth, while his stomach was already rumbling loudly.

"Just say it, damn it..."

Aril took a deep breath and exhaled.

"I will withdraw from the academy."

Aril’s words stunned everyone, even Mira snapped back and looked at Aril.

The first to respond were Ken and Mira, they immediately stood up at the same time and shouted at Aril.

"What are you saying, man?!"

"Hey hey why are you leaving?! Who’s going to stand at the front anymore?!"

A breath came out of Alex, his teeth grinding harder, his stomach burning.

"Eat first, eat first! This conversation won’t end in one or two hours!" Alex immediately grabbed his food without caring anymore.

Everyone chuckled seeing him and they began to eat for a while. There were no more words between them, now only the sound of eating and small conversations could be heard.

Alex, who had almost finished eating, wanted to take an apple served as dessert, he stood slightly to reach the apple near Reva and Ken.

As his hand touched one of the apples, his body suddenly froze, he felt something strange, something impossible.

Alex immediately sat back down and turned to Reva and Ken, his black eyes widened, his mouth slightly open.

’What is that?...’ In the reflection of Alex’s eyes, Ken was seen taking Reva’s apple after seeing her struggling to peel it.

Alex ate his apple while still looking at Reva and Ken.

’What are those two idiots doing? Did Ken hit his head or something?’

Krystal’s voice echoed in Alex’s mind, joining his thoughts.

’What’s wrong with Reva? Isn’t she a knife user? Why can’t she peel an apple?’

Alex tilted his head, his gaze still fixed on the rare sight, he continued eating his apple as Aisy’s hands tried to reach it.

’You’re right about that, but isn’t there something even stranger? Why is Ken helping her?’

Krystal clicked her tongue, she spoke again.

’Why is it strange? Maybe they became closer after going through a near-death moment together.’

Alex chewed his apple, his eyebrows sharpened.

’That might be it, but is it really? Their aura also feels a bit strange these past few days. You’re an expert in expressions, right? Try analyzing that.’

Alex was about to continue thinking, but something distracted him, he turned toward Mira.

One of his eyebrows lifted, Mira was offering him a bottle of juice.

Alex wanted to speak, but Mira spoke first.

"Please open it. My hands are slippery."

Alex’s ear twitched hearing Mira’s request, but he took the bottle and opened it.

’This one is also strange, right?’

Alex handed the opened juice bottle to Mira, while Krystal spoke in his mind.

Alex’s face turned expressionless, he held back his expression because otherwise he would burst out laughing.

’Seems like you’re also getting strange...’

Krystal clicked her tongue, she shouted in Alex’s mind, making veins appear on his forehead.

’Be grateful to me, damn it!!! Because of my holy energy, there is a girl who likes you!!’

Alex let out a breath, he no longer paid attention to Krystal’s chatter.

They continued eating, after some time, all the food on the table was gone, now silence filled the room because they were full.

Katarina, who was also full, immediately looked at Alex, her mind might be affected from being full, she didn’t care about her surroundings.

"Are you ready to meet the king and queen tomorrow?..."

Alex clicked his tongue, he looked at Katarina, veins appearing on his forehead.

’This crazy princess, she’s just like others, becomes absent-minded after being full.’

Alex responded to Katarina’s question by making a ridiculous face and shaking his head.

Mira, seeing that, laughed, she knew what Katarina meant, and seeing Alex respond like that made her laugh.

Alex, hearing Mira’s laughter, stopped making that face and looked at Mira who was still laughing.

Meanwhile Katarina realized she had spoken unintentionally. Reva, hearing that, asked Katarina.

"Why is that scammer going to meet the king and queen, princess?"

Katarina smiled slightly, she shrugged.

"Because he fought to defend the palace?"

Confusion filled Reva’s face, she pointed to her stomach.

"I fought too! My stomach was even torn apart. Why wasn’t I called?"

Ken, hearing Reva showing off her injury, also spoke.

"I was almost stabbed in the heart, I wasn’t called either."

Aril, hearing Reva and Ken showing off their injuries, immediately raised his missing right arm.

"I lost my arm, but I wasn’t called either."

Katarina could only stare at the three of them showing off their injuries without knowing the reason behind Alex being called, she laughed without realizing it.

Now the laughter of Mira and Katarina echoed throughout the treatment room.
