Chapter 108: Tag Team

Roseus stared out at his enemy, trying to figure out what the best course of action would be.

He considered bombarding the sea god’s ship with lightning, but decided against it. Being a god of storms, Susanoo likely had a resistance to lightning that was even greater than significant. Even with Distance Multiplier, this was likely to be the case.

Does that mean I need to make this a close-quarters fight? He wields a sword, so maybe that’s not a good idea either.

...

Then what should I do?

A hand landed on Roseus’ shoulder. It was Blodwen the Green, Wearer of Sharks.

The green-haired man wore a serious look on his face. He seemed tense and ready for battle.

"I’m going to dive," he announced casually. "Stop thinking about this battle from a solo perspective. I’m a Drowned, and so is Lionheart. We’re both here to fight too."

Roseus’ eyes looked across the water towards the Lionheart ship. There their captain was, loading a cannonball into a cannon. Lionheart then shot Roseus a look and saluted him.

He’s right... This isn’t a fight between me and Susanoo. It’s a battle between pirates and a sea god.

Roseus nodded resolutely.

"Alright. Then we hit him with everything we have, using the opening that Dawn created for us."

"Aye!"

...

Blodwen wasted no time, leaping into the sea of corpses and switching to his green shark form. The shark’s body matched the colour of the water, making him blend in as he lurked beneath its depths.

He travelled with speed and ferociousness, whilst hearing the sound of thunder going off above him.

He wasn’t focused on that, though. Only on his prey.

When he arrived at the sloop, he leapt from the water and opened his giant jaws. Fifty sharp teeth wrapped themselves around the stern of the sloop, attempting to take a giant bite out of the purple ship.

However, he swiftly found that his body phased through the ship and landed back in the water, unable to do it any harm. It was as though the ship was truly incorporeal.

So, Blodwen knew that he had to attack the sea god directly.

He manoeuvred through the water with no difficulty at all, sped up his swimming, and leapt from the water again.

By the time Susanoo looked up, a six-metre-long shark was soaring towards him in an attempt to devour him.

...

From afar, Captain Lionheart watched as Susanoo raised his blade, ready to defend himself against Blodwen’s shark form.

He focused, and the cannonball flew at that exact moment.

The cannonball flew high, positioning itself right above Susanoo’s sloop just before Blodwen was going to attack. Then, it turned golden.

The ball dropped immediately, descending directly over the naked man. It was as though a thousand tons were coming towards him.

...

Both attacks were approaching, and Susanoo had to figure out a way to protect himself in just a split moment. This split moment felt like it lasted forever.

Then, he came to a decision.

In the distance, a purple lightning bolt crashed. At that same moment, the sea god’s entire translucent ship disappeared and reappeared where the bolt had struck.

Blodwen and the cannonball both landed back in the water, unable to hit their target.

...

Roseus watched the event take place with a look of shock on his face.

Susanoo was now the same distance away from him, but he and his ship were now in a completely different direction.

The sea god had used Storm Jump to teleport both himself and the vessel that he sailed upon.

This must be the later powers of the Storm Domain!

Directly afterwards, Susanoo already had his arm raised, his hand pointing towards a location deep underwater. He seemed to be able to sense the shark that had already repositioned himself and headed towards him.

Blodwen’s shark form was a complete nuisance to fight against, and the sea god wished to get rid of it.

However, this time, instead of shooting a bolt of lightning from his hand, the flesh of Susanoo’s hand squirmed before becoming a brown tentacle that rapidly extended and shot into the water.

...

Underwater, Blodwen used his Deep Sea Danger Sense skill to sense the tentacle arm flying towards him.

A smile spread across his shark face as he opened his mouth, allowing the arm to enter his jaws.

He clamped down with his sharp teeth and tore into the tentacle flesh. He felt blood fill his mouth, but he didn’t bite too hard to tear the arm off.

Instead, he attempted to hold it in place, giving an opening to the others.

...

Captain Lionheart immediately noticed that Susanoo was in pain and was being dragged into the water. The sea god was forced to use his hands to hold onto the railing so that he didn’t plummet into the deep.

Lionheart laughed. He had never seen a sea god so afraid of the water before.

Afterwards, he took out a slingshot from his back pocket and loosed three stones in rapid succession.

The stones shot out like bullets and became lodged in Susanoo’s body. The sea god didn’t even seem to notice the puny strikes.

Then, Captain Lionheart activated Golden Burden, and the stones became impossibly heavy.

In that same instant, Susanoo’s body phased through his translucent ship and began sinking into the deep water.

...

As Blodwen watched the sea god plummet into the water with him, he swam away, letting go of the tentacle-like arm.

He had been waiting for this opportunity. Blodwen did not know exactly how Lionheart’s skill worked, but he knew that if the man could land a successful shot on the sea god, he would be able to force him back into the sea where he came from.

His shark form emerged from the water and landed back on the deck of his ship, turning into a human once again.

He had to lie there for a few moments, allowing himself to recover.

Meanwhile, Roseus watched the scene with wide eyes.
