I Will Conquer The Seas and Gods
Chapter 33: Two Treasures
The basement of the hut was just as modest as the room upstairs, however, spread across the floor were seven wooden crates.
Blodwen, who now wore a black coat and boots to match his black loose-fitting pants and the shark over his shoulder, stood beside him, pointing at three of the crates.
"Your best bet will be to equip each one and see which bonus effects you are given. Don’t worry about the negatives, they are nothing so serious that they will affect you immediately, just don’t wear them for too long."
With hesitancy and excitement, Roseus made his way over to the first wooden crate and opened its lid.
Inside, a single revolver bullet stared out at him.
The bullet didn’t look like any usual bullet. It was black, with bright white patterns on it that didn’t seem to mean anything.
Roseus lifted the bullet and drew his own revolver. After removing one of the bullets in the cylinder and replacing it with the new one, he was told about the details of the treasure.
[Rare Treasure Equipped]
[Monochrome .38 Special]
[Positive Effect I ~ When loaded into a revolver cylinder, all other bullets are granted a unique effect that causes flesh to spiral grotesquely.]
[Positive Effect II ~ When fired from a revolver, the Monochrome .38 Special’s primary effect receives a 500% increase in potency.]
[Negative Effect I ~ When fired from a revolver, the Monochrome .38 Special destroys the weapon, creating a great explosion.]
"..." Roseus remained silent as he contemplated the effects of the weapon.
Blodwen looked at him, brows raised.
"So?"
Roseus explained the effects of the weapon, and Blodwen pointed out which was added from his pact with Nammon.
"A 500% bonus is incredible. Shoot it at me, and even I might not be able to survive the way my flesh would spiral. However, the whole point of the Monochrome .38 Special is not to be fired. It defeats the purpose."
Agreeing with Blodwen the Green, Roseus removed the bullet from the weapon before any accidents happened.
He placed the bullet in his pocket.
Afterwards, he made his way over to the next crate and opened it.
This time, there was a glove resting in the box. It was made from some sort of animal skin, and was dark red in colour.
Roseus lifted it and put the glove on his dominant right hand.
[Rare Treasure Equipped]
[Bloody Fingers]
[Positive Effect I ~ When fed with blood, the liquid is stored within the glove’s fingers and can be used to moderately heal wounds or cleanse the wearer. Only 5 units of blood can be stored, 1 for each finger.]
[Positive Effect II ~ Stored blood units can be used to slightly heal or cleanse others.]
[Negative Effect I ~ If overfed, the glove releases a blood reincarnation of each owner whose blood is currently stored within the fingers.]
"..."
This time, the added effect was very useful. Although the amount that it could heal others was only slight, rather than moderate, having a healing treasure was incredibly useful.
As for the manner in which blood could be fed to the glove, Blodwen explained that it could consume the blood of any creature.
However, feeding it stronger blood was dangerous. If Bloody Fingers were to drink from Redeye himself and become overfed, then Roseus would be forced to face a reincarnation made from the blood of one of the greatest pirates that ever existed.
Roseus decided to keep the glove on his hand. It had no negative effects that could directly affect him at the moment.
Once done, he turned back towards Blodwen. It was only then that he noticed that the mouth of the shark carcass resting over the man’s shoulder was full of various items.
It seemed that this was where the man kept his treasures that he didn’t currently want to equip. As for the others, he wore them on his body. There were numerous rings on his hands, an amulet around his neck, a small bell attached to his hair, and two sheathed daggers on his waist. And these were only those that he could see.
"So," Blodwen the Green’s voice growled. "You ready to go?"
Roseus was about to nod his head, but first, he wanted to ask the man something.
It was a question that had been on his mind ever since he saw him open the door.
"Blodwen... how powerful are you?"
Blodwen the Green didn’t answer straight away. It seemed as though he was considering what to say.
"You’re my captain now, I accepted that half a decade ago. But you must know the dangers in telling someone your strengths, regardless of who they are."
Just as Roseus was about to frown, the man continued.
"After Rookie, you become a Deckhand. After Deckhand, you become Salt Blood. After Salt Blood, you become Drowned. That’s currently where I stand – the Fourth Rank."
Incredible. Just like that, I’ve learned the names of the first four ranks in the Sailor System. I wonder what each of them do?
Then, another question entered his mind, and it seemed Blodwen was able to predict it.
He smiled at the young captain.
"You want to know the rank of your father, don’t you, boy?"
Roseus nodded his head, having been read like a book.
"Unfortunately, when I left the Redeye Pirates to come to this island, your father was only a Salt Blood, and I was a Deckhand. Now though, who knows. I haven’t heard from the man since he set out for the Fourth Ocean."
Through answering this question, Blodwen unknowingly answered another. It seemed that even he had not heard from Redeye ever since the man left for the Fourth Ocean.
He wondered what had happened to his father, and also many other things about the man and his crew.
There would be plenty of time to ask Blodwen more questions as they sailed for the Maze Sea.
So with that, Captain Roseus and Blodwen the Green headed back towards the shore to board the Redflower ship.
