...

Despite not having earned any new skills, his treasures were now numerous, and he had also made a lot of progress in both his Rookie Rank and even his pact with Nammon, who he soon planned to abandon.

...

Dawn, First-Mate of the Captain, was now 15% through her rank. Her skills were Wound Prediction, Ember Scratch, and Hardened Hull.

...

Kruger, who had gained a lot of progress through using his guns against the Huggers, had reached Rank III in the Ranged Combat field. Now, not only did he have the Fast Hands and Piercing Shot skills, but he also had a third skill named Scattered Shot.

Scattered Shot (Lv.1) → Fires one bullet that splits into five smaller bullets mid-flight. At its current level, the spread direction is random.

He was 27% through his rank.

...

Adriana, similar to Kruger, had benefitted from fighting opponents that were weak against ranged weapons.

She hadn’t awakened any new skills, but her rank progress was now at 18%, putting her on par with Dawn.

...

Petyr had been reserved during their combat. His system didn’t change much, however he had been given the chance to utilise his skill, Shadow Thrust, and was getting the hang of it. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

His progress through the Rookie Rank was 21%.

...

Pip had not defeated many enemies, however she had been practising her acrobatics.

She had earned herself a new skill named Fake Footing.

Fake Footing (Lv.1) → Perform a rapid feint manoeuvre that can dodge attacks and deceive enemies, even those with strong perception.

Her progress was 6%.

...

Jackson had been familiarising himself with his fists. This had mostly been through punching trees and shadow boxing.

Through this, he had pushed his Heavy Hands skill to Lv.2, increasing his unarmed strikes to moderately increased force. After enough clobbering, he could punch down small trees, though his hands hurt due to a lack of conditioning.

His progress was 13%.

...

Silius, who had spent a lot of his time on lookout, hadn’t expected to make much progress. However, it seemed that using the Needle of Ruin to constantly sense danger had progressed his system drastically.

During lookout, he ranked up in Weather Sense and awakened a skill called Urge, that allowed him to slightly influence rainfall. He could not create or stop rain entirely, but he could subtly nudge it, making it last slightly longer, end slightly quicker, fall slightly softer, or fall slightly harder.

His progress through the Rookie Rank was at 15%, despite having a later start than most of the others.

...

Lavender had continued not to speak much. She did not fight and spent much of her time secluded away in the forest, alone.

She had expressed that she had yet to awaken.

...

Blodwen had continued to keep his system secret, however Roseus had learned that the man was of the Fourth Rank, which was Drowned.

Roseus had expressed that knowing his abilities beforehand would be helpful in the battle to come, but Blodwen had explained that he was the one who would adapt to them.

He said with certainty that he would provide sufficient aid to each and every member during the battle that was to come.

...

On the shore of Blodwen’s island...

Roseus stood at the helm of his ship with Blodwen by his side, staring out into the vast ocean.

The moon had risen and was casting its glow onto the surface of the water. Further along these waters, three ships approached.

At their centre, Roseus recognised the ship they had previously fought against. It was slightly bigger than their own.

However, whilst sandwiched between the other two warships, it looked insignificant.

These ships were both double the size of the patrol ship in height, width, and length. Their hulls were layered with wood and reinforced with steel, giving them the appearance of floating fortresses rather than vessels. The fronts of the ships were plated in iron, shaped into brutal ramming prows that looked capable of tearing straight through another ship’s hull.

On either side rested four heavy cannons, their black barrels jutting from reinforced gun ports. Thick chains wrapped around the cannon bases to absorb the force of recoil, whilst stacks of iron cannonballs sat nearby in wooden crates.

The upper decks were crowded with swivel-guns mounted along the rails, each one capable of unleashing rapid bursts of fire far deadlier than ordinary handguns. Between them stood rows of armed navy sailors in white coats, their weapons already drawn and prepared for battle.

Towering above the ships were the flags of the Halo Empire.

...

Roseus felt Blodwen’s heavy hand land on his shoulder.

Far behind them, hiding in the trees of the forest, waited the rest of the crew. They didn’t dare stand on the beach, as they knew not what dangers might come to them.

"That’s a lot of manpower for just one small crew." Roseus pointed out.

"One small crew with a captain that carries the blood of Redeye, and a First-Mate with the blood of Stellar. They’ll do whatever they can to bring you in before your journey truly begins." Blodwen responded.

Roseus took in a deep breath and then let it out. He heard the truth in Blodwen’s words.

"And I’ll do whatever I can to stop them," he said, watching as the enemy ships sailed confidently towards the island.

Then, he took the Ring of Unfavourability off his finger and held it out to Blodwen.

As soon as he carried the intention of sharing his treasure with another, he heard spiritual warnings travel through his being, urging him to stop.

The warnings became stronger as Blodwen reached out, took the ring from his hand, and placed it on his own finger.

...

It was at that exact moment that Nammon’s wrath was brought down upon the First Ocean.

[Pact with ’Nammon’ severed]

[The oceans become troubled...]
