Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies
Chapter 1277: An Excessive Request
Chapter 1277: An Excessive Request
Liang Yue said, "Exchange contact information?"
Drolma lowered her head. "I'm sorry, we cannot give you our contact information. Because if you two are from the chieftain families, you could easily use it to find our camp."
"So, only we can contact you two unilaterally."
As Drolma spoke, an unusual blush couldn't help but appear on her own face.
Even someone with a straightforward temperament knew this request was somewhat excessive.
But now, for those struggling to survive in the Snowy Plateau Region, safety had to be guaranteed.
She had no choice but to brace herself and make such a request.
Mu Yan spoke up lightly, "Only you can contact us, asking for our aid, while we cannot contact you. That's what you mean, right?"
Although her tone was calm, anyone could hear the dissatisfaction in it.
So, us helping you is taken for granted?
Drolma's expression stiffened, and she shamefully lowered her head, burying it even deeper.
"Currently, we do not have the ability to offer you corresponding compensation."
"We only hope that, for the sake of the countless suffering people of the Snowy Plateau Region... you will help us."
She gritted her teeth, enduring the shame in her heart as she said these words.
Mu Yan, however, gave a faint smile. "Alright! It's just a contact method. Giving it to you isn't out of the question."
Liang Yue looked at Mu Yan with surprise, not understanding why she would agree to such terms.
Mu Yan didn't explain, but left Drolma her communication channel.
Afterwards, she and Liang Yue dove into the shadows and headed back towards the Pagyi Family courtyard.
On the way back, Liang Yue finally voiced the doubt in her heart.
"I thought you would refuse. I never expected you to act out of character. What exactly are you thinking?"
Mu Yan smiled faintly. "These little nobodies might come in handy sooner or later."
Liang Yue's face stiffened, and a corner of her mouth twitched into an awkward smile. "I should have known."
Mu Yan was a new member of the team, usually quiet and not very noticeable.
A person's abilities can, to some extent, reveal their temperament.
Mu Yan's abilities were suited for infiltration and investigation, and she herself was a quiet person.
But her experiences during the Apocalypse were more dangerous and varied than those of everyone in the Shelter, which fostered her caution and wisdom.
Mu Yan also smiled.
She carefully explained her reasoning to Liang Yue.
"Zhang Yi sent us here to gather intelligence. We rarely get to make contact with entities like the resistance army, so it's good to establish contact now. It might prove useful in the future."
"Besides, it's just leaving a contact method. We never said we definitely have to help."
Mu Yan said dismissively.
Liang Yue felt deep admiration for Mu Yan. "You really think things through. I'm convinced."
Mu Yan just gave her a faint glance.
"You helped them, yet they are wary of you at every turn. You gained nothing from it. Won't you regret it?"
Liang Yue smiled faintly.
"Everything I do isn't for anyone else. It's just so my own conscience can be at peace."
She blinked at Mu Yan. "I long ago stopped holding any expectations for human nature, so I can't be disappointed."
"What a fool."
Mu Yan shook her head and said no more.
When the two returned to the Pagyi Family courtyard, Zhang Yi had already come back earlier.
He had, of course, noticed the commotion outside, but he didn't care about such things.
The Pagyi Family still had the strength to handle such minor incidents, and Pagyi Gesang wouldn't trouble him over it.
When he returned home, Yang Xinxin and the others hadn't slept and were waiting for Zhang Yi.
Zhang Yi glanced around the room and asked lightly, "Liang Yue and Mu Yan aren't back yet?"
Zhou Ke'er shook her head with a smile. "Not yet."
Zhang Yi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is that so?"
Thinking of the disturbance at the serf camp, Zhang Yi immediately realized something.
"Could it be them? No way. With just the two of them, even if they freed those serfs, they'd only let them freeze to death in the icy wilderness. They wouldn't do something so foolish."
Zhang Yi sat on the sofa, and Zhou Ke'er brought him hot tea.
Everyone couldn't wait to ask about his gains from tonight.
Zhang Yi leaned back on the sofa, looked up at the ceiling, and after a long while, let out a deep sigh.
"The muddy waters of the Southwest Region are much deeper than I imagined!"
He told everyone about today's encounters.
After listening, the expressions on everyone's faces were extremely vivid.
Five Epsilons. So many terrifying existences had actually appeared at the Great Snow Mountain simultaneously. Clearly, the Southwest Region trip was more troublesome than imagined.
Yang Xinxin lowered her head in thought for a moment, then said very calmly:
"It sounds somewhat unbelievable, yet it makes perfect sense."
"This also further indicates there is a mysterious ruin beneath the Great Snow Mountain. Otherwise, it couldn't attract so many powerful figures."
Zhou Ke'er sat beside Zhang Yi, holding his arm, and asked, "You fought with those people. Could you recognize who they were?"
Zhang Yi mostly knew the Epsilons of the Huaxu Kingdom. Once they made a move, their distinctive ability traits would be revealed.
Zhang Yi shook his head. "The most terrifying part is that I hardly recognized any of them. However," he rubbed his chin, "two of them seemed to be locals of the Southwest Region."
He was very certain that the Lord of the Charnel Ground and the Golden-Winged Superhuman were obviously a group.
Yang Xinxin analyzed this and said, "If that's the case, then only the identities of two people are difficult to determine."
"There are only two possibilities. First, they are hidden super-powerhouses from other regions."
"Second," a sharp glint flashed in her eyes, "they are not superhumans from the Huaxu Kingdom at all!"
As soon as she said this, the atmosphere immediately became tense.
Old You's expression showed some anger. "You mean foreigners are coveting the treasures of our Huaxu Kingdom?"
Yang Xinxin said, "We cannot rule out that possibility. Moreover, it's a very high possibility."
She analyzed seriously, "According to brother's description, the strength of these five people is not weak, especially the two superhumans with suspicious identities. Their superhuman ability index wouldn't be below 15,000 points."
"And such existences are among the best in any major region today."
"With such formidable strength, could they possibly remain unknown?"
"Therefore, it is most likely that they come from other countries or forces."
Zhang Yi habitually rubbed the back of his hand. His gaze was obscure, his black pupils flickering with a mysterious light.
"If Pagyi Gesang can invite me here, then other forces in the Snowy Plateau Region might do the same."
Yang Xinxin added, "But first, we can rule out the Yasha Langtai Family."
"They control the Lord of the Charnel Ground. According to brother's account, his superhuman ability index is as high as 20,000. He holds absolute hegemony in the Snowy Plateau Region."
"Normally, they are the absolute rulers of the Snowy Plateau Region, having no rivals. There's no need for them to invite a wolf into the house."
Zhang Yi nodded. "If that's the case, then the most suspicious ones are the Xia Zha Family and the La Min Family."
As soon as Zhang Yi finished speaking, a voice sounded in the room.
"The Snowy Plateau Region doesn't just have these few chieftain families. There is another force!"
A circular black shadow appeared on the ground, and the figures of Liang Yue and Mu Yan slowly emerged from within it.
