I'll Just Be Overpowered
Chapter 52: Leaving
These three young nobles from the kingdoms had been sent because the peace that was to be made was between kids first, and from there they could foster the changes that would come in the two races as a whole.
The man in a suit stepped forward, he looked at Lumeria and gave her a slight bow to show respect, but not enough for him to look like a servant of hers.
"Greetings, Lady Lumeria," he spoke in a way that made it clear he was not here to be used or manipulated, he knew about his stance and backing.
"Greetings, envoy from the capital," Lumeria responded.
"I take it that all is in order for the transit of the young mistress to join our prestigious Vermilion Royal Academy to foster the development of relations between both races?" the man spoke, delivering his words like he had practiced them for hours.
"Indeed, but a few changes have been made," Lumeria stated.
"Changes? I was not aware of any major changes. If there is something major to change in the agreement, that would mean a start all over," he stated.
"It is not something that major," she replied, "everything has already been ironed out, but I refuse to allow my daughter to be thrust into the human world without anyone with her. You might state that you’ll protect her, but it’s impossible to stop everything that could possibly happen, and as such I’d like to prepare my own means." As she said that, she turned and looked at Leo and Ken.
"Leo here is the cousin to my daughter and a prodigy in his own respect, I’d like him to follow along with her as protection and a close family member." She then looked at Ken, the center of interest for everyone that was standing there, they wanted to know who he was and what he had to do with this meeting here.
"This is Ken, the best friend to my daughter, and he will be acting in the position of her bodyguard and closest confidant."
After she said that, every eye locked on Ken. He was dressed completely simply, with nothing special to show from first looks. But even then, there was a certain air about him that forced their attention to remain on him, he gave off a certain aura that forced him to be at the center of all eyes.
"Lady Lumeria, this is a young human, the Royal Academy takes in the best of the best. Your daughter is one of the best, and we could understand for her cousin, but this boy, are you certain he can make it into the academy?" he asked.
Lumeria frowned when she heard that. "Are you saying my choice is not good?" she asked.
"Not at all, and there might be what you see in this human, but we will have to run him through the academy test to ensure that he can join the academy and at least participate at the level that he needs to be in the academy.
The Royal Academy is unlike every other academy. It is more of an experience to train the elites, getting in would already mean you are one of the best and sets you for a future unlike any other," he tried to explain.
"Fine, you can do whatever you want, but you must ensure that whatever he earns, he gets. He is a prideful being, and I assure you that boycotting him in any regard alike will only lead to problems for you."
’She speaks so highly of this kid, but I can barely sense powerful mana from him, what could this kid possibly have to make an elf of her caliber vouch for him so much?
Regardless, I’ll see that in due time, for now we have to ensure this deal goes the right way and that we can leave back to the capital, the road is crawling with bandits eager to get rich.’
"I understand, and I’ll ensure that all is done according to what we have agreed," the man said and gave that slight bow again.
"Good, then they can go with you, everything is complete," Lumeria said.
The meeting was already over, fast and easy.
Luna stepped forward, Leo followed behind her. Ken looked at the two of them for a bit before taking a step forward, only for a hand to press on his shoulder and stop him, it was Lady Lumeria, and in her hands were two slightly bigger branches of the tree.
"Mira wanted you to have these, she said protect her Luna as best as you can."
Ken looked at the branches and his eyes instantly lit up, he took them from her hands with a smile. "I’d do that regardless." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He walked off, the only thing he brought with him was the sword at his side. The elves had prepared clothes and some other things for him, Luna, and Leo, so he brought nothing personal.
The second carriage was meant to be for them, so one of the knights led them there and opened the door for them.
As they walked there, Ken could feel the gazes from the three noble brats, especially on him. To them, he was genuinely out of place, way too out of place.
Ken didn’t care though, he walked in and got into the carriage after Luna and Leo. The door was locked, and the knights all quickly got on their horses as they got ready to leave.
The horses and carriages were turned around, the nobles got in. The suited man gave a final bow and then got into the carriage as well, the journey back started soon after they had arrived.
