Chapter 566: Chapter 565: Let’s Go, Time to Grab Some Rice

Shi Yuhuai deeply hurt Li Yang’s feelings, to the point where Li Yang wouldn’t even talk to him afterwards.

He turned his head to the right, resolutely refusing to glance at him.

Unfortunately, Shi Yuhuai couldn’t care less. He squeezed out along the path he paved, glanced around, and headed to the other side with Chen Yi.

That back had a tragic feeling of "I’ve been the standout bird getting all the suspicion, so be it."

Mu Qiu rolled her eyes and, without saying a word, pulled Zhao Yu along to follow.

They had to go to the supermarket first to find something to eat or drink; you know what they say, "Man is iron, food is steel, missing a meal makes you starve."

If lunchtime came and they still hadn’t found anything to eat, everyone would lose it, let alone play games.

After they followed, the few left behind exchanged glances and scratched their noses as they tagged along.

As a result, a long line of people followed Shi Yuhuai, all heading straight for the supermarket.

That supermarket was right across from the fast food joint. You walked in until you reached a dense area, then turned left to find a three-story building.

The first floor had daily necessities and food, the second floor had clothes, and the third floor had a hot pot restaurant and a cinema.

Entering through the broken door, you immediately saw four or five mannequins lying neatly inside, surrounded by vinegar. From a distance, it looked like the vinegar was oozing from them, resembling discolored bloodstains.

The mannequins were eerily realistic, appearing exactly like a real crime scene.

Shu Ran peeked from behind to take a look, and a scream almost escaped her lips.

"Ah......."

She was immediately silenced by Guan Yu.

"If you can’t look, then don’t, okay? Be careful your scream doesn’t bring them back to life. If they mutate, we won’t even have time to run."

Shu Ran’s eyes widened even more, and she quickly clamped her mouth shut.

Mu Qiu turned her head to observe her reaction for a couple of seconds and also wanted to tiptoe to take a look.

But as luck would have it, Cheng Zhirang and Shen Zhousong moved to block their view.

The big burly guys, built like oxen, completely obstructed her sightline, so no matter how much she tiptoed or leaned sideways, she couldn’t see the mannequins lying inside.

She had to give up.

Then she listened to Li Yang verbally describe the situation from the back where he had hopped up for a better view.

"That mannequin, although it looks bloody, isn’t missing any limbs."

"But there is one mannequin facing us with wide-open eyes, looking a bit creepy in its death stare."

"They seem to have vinegar on them too, hiding some of the bloodstains."

"What are you all so scared of? It’s really not that frightening."

Guo Yin weakly remarked, "Then bro, why are you only peeking from behind Brother Cheng?"

Mu Qiu glanced at him silently. Li Yang’s prominent nose was almost poking Cheng Zhirang’s shoulder, just a chin away from resting on it, creating a bizarre vibe like a bashful waif hiding behind a tall man.

Her eyes stung a bit from the sight, and she dramatically blinked them shut.

Called out by Guo Yin, Li Yang straightened up immediately, stepping away from Cheng Zhirang’s back and glaring at Guo Yin: "...Whose team are you on?"

Guan Yu answered on behalf, "With justice."

Cheng Zhirang glanced back at them, seeing they could still joke around, he figured they weren’t too scared, so he patted Shi Yuhuai on the shoulder.

The queue blocked at the entrance began to move forward again.

With a human wall blocking the front, the shorter ones in the back who behaved could barely see the crime scene, freeing their minds for other thoughts.

Like Mu Qiu and Zhao Yu.

Just past the supermarket entrance, they found the section for soon-to-expire clearance items. The snacks in disposable plates were scattered all over the floor, meat jerky and sweets getting sticky from multiple stomps, alongside some mung beans and rice.

She glanced back at the others, who were all busy scouting around; no one noticed them.

"Let’s go."

Mu Qiu tilted her head at Zhao Yu, signaling her to follow the trail of mung beans and rice a bit further in.

Zhao Yu gave an okay gesture, slowed her pace to fall behind the group on purpose, and quietly trailed the rice markings deeper.

This section was for rice, oil, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea. The further in they went, the more mung beans and rice littered the floor, joined by other items.

Like peanuts and dates, until they reached where rice and mung beans were stored, the scattered items peaked, with barely anything left in the divider bins.

Mu Qiu and Zhao Yu exchanged a look, reaching for the rice left in the bins.

There was still a bit more rice remaining, and each stirred with one hand inside, hoping to dig out something.

"Nothing," Zhao Yu murmured while stirring.

Mu Qiu sighed wistfully, withdrew her hand, shook it off, and turned to stir the mung beans.

Zhao Yu stuck her hand into another rice bin.

The mung beans didn’t have much left either; a stir or two unearthed no cards, so Mu Qiu clicked her tongue and opted to pick the peanuts mixed in.

The peanut bin was empty; without the label ’peanuts,’ one wouldn’t know anything had been there.

It seemed someone frantically hoarded from this spot, mixing various items and barely taking half, who knows if they even took anything substantial for survival.

She kept an eye on the others while picking red-skinned peanuts from the mung beans and palming them.

Eating some peanuts could tide them over ten minutes in a pinch.

When her hand couldn’t hold more, she glanced around, and when nobody noticed, she untied her cargo pants pocket and stuffed the peanuts inside.

After the peanuts came the rice; with all four pockets bulging, she hitched up her pants a bit, signaling Zhao Yu with a couple of sharp noises.

Zhao Yu abandoned the fragrant rice with a great feel and withdrew her hand.

"No luck."

"It’s fine," she patted her pocket, whispering, "we’ve got the ultimate life-saving weapon already, we can take it easy now."

Zhao Yu’s brow flickered, crouching down to squeeze the four bulging pockets with an admiring look at her.

"I don’t even know what to commend you for. But aren’t your pants slipping a bit?"

"...A little bit,"

Mu Qiu chuckled, hitching up her waistline, "but I packed lighter on purpose. As long as I don’t run too intensely, they should stay up. You should stash some too, see if there’s anything useful."

"So two people tugging their pants through the whole game, right? Please act normal; are you planning to eat the rice raw?"

"We can make porridge...but seems we have no water," Mu Qiu sighed wistfully, taking out the rice from her pocket and putting it back.

"Forget it, a handful of peanuts will do for now; we’ll see if there’s anything else edible and stuff them later."

Zhao Yu silently assisted her in extracting rice from her pocket.

"If your pants fall down mid-run, this show will soar in fame...Why are there mung beans too? Planning to sprout beans?!"
