Yurizono Seia in American Horror Movies Arc: Start

--+--

[Amber: Legal identity... acquired.]

[Amber: From here on out, you’re this world’s Gabriel—or at least, Gabriel’s Proxy. To everyone else, your very essence won’t be any different from the Archangel’s.]

[Amber: Of course, this identity comes with a few strings attached. Simply put, you’ll need to do some good deeds, like casting out demons and upholding the Path.]

[Seia: Good deeds? Casting out demons? Is that really all it takes?]

Exorcising a demon or two was something she’d have done even without being asked, whether out of a sense of morality or simple self-interest. But now that she’d been saddled with the identity of Gabriel, was there really no other restriction?

[Amber: That’s it. How do I put this... compared to the God of the Bible, the "God" here feels far more detached. Not evil, exactly, just... hard to describe. I suppose it’s a case of "The Lord does not care."]

[Amber: Anyway, as long as you don’t go around committing any atrocities, you’ll be fine. Though, saying that to you feels a bit redundant.]

True enough. It wasn’t as if she had any reason to go around causing havoc.

[Amber: If anything else pops up, just ping me.]

[Seia: Thank you very much.]

Closing the chat window for now, a young girl with long, golden hair—appearing no older than fourteen—let out a soft sigh of relief inside Dublin Cathedral.

The moment she had arrived in this world, Seia felt its strangeness. And the very next instant that thought crossed her mind, a beautiful angel with a halo and six wings, possessing a genderless grace, had appeared before her.

With a gentle smile, the angel led her to a "Heaven" that defied all common sense.

Boundless golden light rained down in shimmering particles. Even without words, Seia understood the intent of the entity before her. It wasn’t through speech, but a natural, intuitive realization.

From Seia’s perspective, the message was: "Where did you come from? What is your purpose here?"

She could sense no malice, but for the sake of her own safety and future convenience, Seia had immediately chosen to call for backup.

After all... sure, you’re God, but we have God on our side, too—actually, two Gods stacked on top of each other in the form of Mio Takamiya and the Dragon of Albion.

The moment Amber reached this world, Seia found herself standing inside a church. It looked like a chapel, and currently, it was deserted.

Confused by the sudden shift, she checked the chat group and saw the messages Amber had just sent.

Even so, she felt a bit like she was wandering through a fog. This was her first time in a world that actually had a... Master? (In more ways than one.)

Her thoughts were a tangled mess, so Seia decided to stop dwelling on things so far out of her reach. None of that concerned her anyway; if a real problem arose, it would be the main body’s headache.

Once she reached that conclusion, her heart settled into a calm rhythm, giving her a moment to assess her current state.

Weak. Incredibly weak. In fact, this might be the weakest she had ever been.

Her physical stats weren’t even worth comparing to other character cards; she was probably on par with an average middle schooler.

That was only natural. In Kivotos, the physical disparity between students was extreme.

There were those like Yuuka, who couldn’t even outrun Sensei, and then there were those like Hoshino, who could traverse a thousand miles in a day.

Among all the students, Seia was famously delicate.

But didn’t the main body say I’ve become Gabriel’s Proxy? Why is there no difference from when I first stepped into this world?

She grumbled inwardly, but she didn’t panic. Even if her stats looked abysmal on paper, it didn’t mean she was truly fragile.

After all, she still had her "Halo." It was a miraculous power, almost like "the power of belief." Even now, its principles and laws could only be guessed at—it was an absolute Mystery.

Even the characters in the story simply referred to this power as "The Mystic."

Having assumed Seia’s character card, Amber had more or less figured out how to use this halo. It worked similarly to "I think, therefore it is."

As long as something was perceived as "common sense" by the user, that common sense would become reality through the support of their Mystic.

For example, the dual beliefs of "a bullet of this caliber cannot hurt me" and "a needle can enter my body" would allow skin that couldn’t be scratched by lead to be easily pierced by a syringe.

The ceiling of this Mystic depended on the individual. By Seia’s current estimation, if someone wanted to actually hurt her, they’d need at least a high-yield nuclear warhead detonating directly on her head while she stood perfectly still in the center.

Only then would there be a chance of wounding her.

Following this, Seia ran a series of tests and mental simulations on her current power.

She didn’t know if her understanding had truly grasped the essence of the halo’s power, or if her "belief" was simply making it so. Regardless, by the time she finished her tests, she found her current strength to be... acceptable.

With her self-assessment complete, she finally surveyed her surroundings. She didn’t know which cathedral this was, but it was a fine starting point for learning about this world.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, a sharp sting pierced her head.

Suddenly, dozens—no, hundreds—of images flashed through her mind. America, England, Canada. The present, the future, and the past within that future.

The flood of visions left Seia feeling physically ill. Unlike Melusine, who saw specific flashes or short clips of the future, Seia saw the entire cause and effect with terrifying clarity.

The sheer volume of images, including scenes of the world’s destruction, left her momentarily speechless.

This world... was far too plagued by disaster.

Faith was fading from the globe. Countless demons and vengeful spirits lurked in the shadows, and innumerable devils glared hungrily at the mortal realm.

No wonder the Lord didn’t care.

If the Lord had created this world and its people, looking at the mess humanity had made of things, it was only natural to be indifferent.

Even the existence of the Seven Trumpets made sense now. If this batch of humans didn’t work out, well, just scrap them and start over.

Many of the world’s ends were brought about by the sounding of those very trumpets.

This realization sparked a sense of urgency in Seia’s heart.

After all, she considered herself human, and the bulk of her "Recognition" came from humans. While the end of the world wouldn’t technically affect her, she still wanted to save it if she could.

As Seia was lost in thought, the sound of hurried, disorganized footsteps reached her. Her ears twitched instinctively toward the noise.

Since she had never had them before, the sensation of the animal ears atop her head felt novel. But as the footsteps slowed and became rhythmic as they drew closer, she abandoned the thought of exploring her new features for the moment.

The chapel doors were pushed open from the outside. An elderly man in bishop’s robes stepped slowly into the room.

He froze for a second upon seeing the ears on Seia’s head, but when his eyes landed on the golden halo shaped like a Canterbury Cross, his eyes welled with tears.

Then, he knelt, bowing his head in a choked, devout prayer.

...What’s this about?

A/N: Haha, didn’t expect that, did you? I still haven’t finished the outline for this volume...

I can’t say there’s absolutely nothing, but it’s very short.

(I guess I haven’t watched enough horror movies.)
