Chapter 72: Fix Him

Liam’s return to the Luna pack borders was nothing short of dramatic, with his transformation from wolf to human marking the beginning of a flurry of questions and concerns from his packmates.

"Liam! Where were you? What happened? We found some of your blood in a bear trap. And Anastasia, where is she? Wasn’t she with you?"

Philip, growing impatient "Where the fuck is Anastasia and why are you here and she isn’t?"

Liam glared at Philip, his patience wearing thin as he pushed him away, only for Xavier to catch Philip before he hit the floor. "She is safe, but we need to get her out. She sacrificed her freedom for me because I was going into heat. She needed to get me out."

Philip sniffed the air, confirming Liam’s condition, but his worry for his alpha outweighed his anger as he listened to Liam continue. "The alpha of that pack apparently knows her. He is sick, he is a psycho. Anastasia has him in control for now, but we need to get her out. The good thing is I have a very good plan to get Anastasia back and catch the alpha. Just give me two days to... agh, get rid of this shitty heat."

He hid the fact Anastasia is Cobra’s fated mate.

With those words, Liam held his stomach in pain and sprinted to his room, leaving his packmates to digest the gravity of the situation and await his next move.

________

Anastasia couldn’t shake off the chaotic feelings as she sat in the luxurious room Cobra had provided her.

Her mind wrestled with the tumult of emotions.

Cobra, the man before her, was her fated mate — a fact that seemed both unbelievable and dreadful considering his infamous reputation.

And yet, she couldn’t deny the sense of familiarity and connection that existed between them.

Their mating bond.

As she tenderly stroked Cobra’s long, silky blond hair, watching him sleep so peacefully in her embrace, memories flooded her mind.

He looked so innocent and tiny in her arms, with his long lashes and red pouty lips.

She remembered the vulnerable boy he once was, the one she had found being bullied ten years ago, his innocence starkly contrasting with the powerful figure he had become.

Carefully shifting him onto the bed, Anastasia tucked him in with her pillow, wanting to ensure his comfort even in sleep.

But as she retreated to the bathroom, the weight of her circumstances crashed over her once again.

The dizziness from the silver in her system, a constant reminder of the dangers she faced, threatened to overwhelm her.

Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Anastasia couldn’t help but dwell on the chaos that had engulfed her life.

The complexities of her relationships, the dangers lurking at every turn — it was a stark reminder of the precariousness of her existence, and the difficult choices she was forced to make.

Anastasia’s heart sank as she emerged from the bathroom to find Cobra in a state of panic.

His wide eyes flickered around the room, his breaths coming in shallow, uneven gasps.

She approached him slowly, her voice gentle but firm as she tried to soothe his escalating distress.

"Cobra?" she called softly, her own concern noticeable in her tone.

"Why did you leave? I didn’t mean to sleep, I’m sorry. I just... Did I disturb you? I didn’t mean to...I’m sorry..." His words came out in a rush, tinged with despair, and fear, his eyes watered, his trembling hands betraying his inner turmoil.

Anastasia moved closer, her hand reaching out to cup his face, her touch a grounding force amidst the chaos swirling around them.

She couldn’t afford for him to lose control — not now, not when so much was at stake.

"Cobra, I just needed to wash my face. Calm down," she reassured him, her voice steady despite the turmoil within her.

Slowly, he began to calm down, sinking down onto the bed as she sat beside him.

She sighed softly, the weight of their situation pressing heavily upon her shoulders.

She couldn’t afford for him to unravel, not when the lives of those she held dear hung in the balance.

"I don’t mind if you sleep here, Cobra. Calm down. You didn’t disturb me," she murmured, her fingers threading through his hair in a soothing gesture.

His long blond hair hung loose down his wide, muscled shoulders, she kept brushing through it with her fingers and calming him down.

Drawing him close, she felt the tension begin to decrease from his body as he buried his face against her neck, seeking comfort and safety in her embrace.

" Come on, I will hug you all night." With a gentle smile, she guided him back to bed, holding him close as they settled in for the night.

" Thank you, my love. I’m sorry for freaking out." here whispered in a shaky tone as if he was still scared that she might leave him.

Anastasia hummed and hugged him tighter " I’m not leaving you, Cobra. Ever. I will stay with you forever."

She said that but for the first time in her life, she had no idea why she said something that was impossible to happen.

In the quiet of the room, she could hear the frantic beat of his heart, a reminder of the fragile balance they walked on the edge of danger and desire.

________

As the morning light filtered through the windows, Anastasia stirred from her sleep, her eyes fluttering open to find Cobra standing beside the bed, a tray of breakfast in his hands.

Despite the unsettling events of the previous night, his demeanor was surprisingly gentle as he offered her food, his words filled with a desperate need to please her and make her happy.

"Good morning," he murmured softly, his eyes searching hers for any sign of discomfort. "I brought breakfast for you. Is there anything else you need? Anything I can do for you?"

Anastasia shook her head, her expression calm but guarded.

"No, thank you, Cobra," she replied quietly with a smile, accepting the food he offered but keeping a wary distance between them.

After breakfast, Cobra led her to his room, a place she had yet to explore.

But as he showed her around, her stomach churned with unease as her eyes fell upon the walls lined with pictures.

Her pictures.

His whole room is filled with her pictures, there is not a single spot empty in the walls of his spacious room, fully filled with her pictures and drawings.

Images of herself captured without her consent or knowledge, each one a haunting reminder of the violation of her privacy.

She just wants to understand how he made it inside the packhouse and inside her room without being caught.

Her breath caught in her throat as she took in the sight, the realization sinking in that Cobra had been watching her, observing her every move without her knowledge.

It was a deeply alarming acknowledgment, one that sent shivers down her spine as she struggled to maintain her composure in the face of such blatant intrusion.

With a forced smile, she turned to Cobra, her voice steady despite the turmoil raging within her.

"I... I didn’t realize you had so many pictures of me," she said, her words carefully chosen as she tried to mask her growing unease. "It’s... It’s a bit overwhelming."

As Cobra knelt before Anastasia, his eyes burning with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine, he took her hand delicately in his, his lips brushing against her skin in a gesture that made her skin crawl.

"My love," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion, "I am consumed by you. Every thought, every breath, every heartbeat is filled with thoughts of you. I cannot bear to be apart from you, even for a moment. You are my everything, my reason for living. I love you, Anastasia."

Anastasia’s heart pounded in her chest as she listened to his words, the fervor of his devotion both intoxicating and terrifying.

As her fated mate, the second he said her name, her heart raced against her will.

She could feel the weight of his gaze upon her, his eyes boring into her soul as he continued to profess his love in a way that made her skin prickle with unease.

"I would do anything for you," he declared, his voice growing more fervent with each word. "I would move mountains, I would conquer worlds, I would tear down the very fabric of reality itself if it meant keeping you by my side. You are mine, and I’m yours, Anastasia and I will never let you slip away from my hands as I did before when I was a nobody."

A chill ran down Anastasia’s spine as she watched him, his emotional declarations of love tinged with a darkness that made her blood run cold.

She knew that his obsession with her was far from healthy, far from normal, but at that moment, she couldn’t bring herself to pull away.

The allure of his affection, twisted though it may be, was a siren song she couldn’t resist.

So she remained silent, her hand trembling in his grasp, as he poured out his heart to her in a torrent of words that left her feeling both euphoric and afraid of what was coming to them.

And as he pressed his lips to her hand once more, she couldn’t help but wonder how she had become entangled in the web of his obsession, and if she would ever find a way to break free.

How is she supposed to break his heart? How can she fix him?
