Chapter 225: Come Back Home

Still bent over, the old man came out of his bamboo hut and slowly walked towards the campfire that Theodore’s group had lit. Theodore secretly smiled and gave the old man a bowl of warm dumpling soup.

"Are we going to continue our journey after this, brother?" While chewing his food, Geoffrey turned to Theodore to ask.

"Aren’t you tired? We’ll rest here first, then tomorrow we’ll continue our journey." Theodore shook his head. His body was still tired, so he needed to rest longer this time.

"Where do you want to go?" Finally, the old man opened his voice and decided to ask Theodore and the others.

"I intend to return to my home. Hope there are still survivors there," Theodore replied briefly.

Although that was Theodore’s goal, more precisely, he intended to find the whereabouts of his younger sister and also his friends who were in the city of K. Although the state of the town of K was quite bad in his previous life, it was just that Theodore remembered that the town of K had not completely fallen into the hands of zombies.

So, there was still a chance for Theodore to find his sister and his four friends. Theodore intends to create a small-scale base in K City to accommodate his group members.

Currently, Theodore is not alone; Roxanne and Geoffrey are willing to leave the City A base to come with him, as well as Celia. So, there was no way Theodore would just abandon them.

"It looks like it will be quite difficult for you to find them. The situation in the city of K is quite chaotic because there are many bandit groups acting up," explained the old grandfather quite sympathetically to the group’s situation.

"Things are that chaotic in the city? Isn’t there a military guard there?" Roxanne frowned as she heard the old man’s explanation.

"From what I heard, the military in the city has fallen. So there was no one to bring order to the city when the zombies appeared and the city fell into chaos." The old man shook his head in regret at the current state of the city.

"No wonder the city is in such a mess. Looks like we have to be ready to fight when we enter the city," Theodore replied, starting to remind the rest of his group.

"Then, do you want to come with us?" Celia asked the old grandfather.

Theodore nodded his head in agreement while glancing at the old grandfather. He didn’t mind if the old grandfather intended to come with them. Theodore waited for the old man’s answer.

The old man shook his head, "No need. I’m already comfortable here and I won’t survive if I go into the city," the old man replied with a tired sigh.

"Are you sure? We can protect you if you want to come," Theodore said again, offering to have the old man come with them.

"My place is here." The old man shook his head with a small smile.

"It’s fine if you really think that way." Theodore no longer asked the old man to come with them.

After a delicious dinner and a full stomach, they retired to sleep in the tent they had built.

The wind that night was freezing and made Theodore wake up. He did not expect sleeping outside like this would be so cold. Theodore took out some blankets and began to cover the bodies of his other group members.

When Theodore was about to sleep, he could see that the old man was still awake and sitting on the edge of his field. Theodore quietly smiled and went back to sleep, knowing that the old man was standing guard for them.

. . .

The following day, Theodore woke up by himself. This was the first time he woke up peacefully because he usually would wake up when they were in a critical situation, and he had to act immediately when he woke up.

"You’re awake. The others are waiting for you." Roxanne greeted Theodore, who had just woken up and was stretching his body comfortably.

"Where are the others?" Theodore, his eyes not fully open, glanced around and found only Roxanne inside their tent.

"They are helping the old man harvest the rice." Roxanne explained where Geoffrey and Celia were.

Theodore nodded his head in understanding. He then immediately got up from his position and cleaned up his sleep. Roxanne also began to help Theodore clean the tent.

"Does the tent need to be cleaned now?" Roxanne confirmed it before removing the tent they were staying in.

"Yes, we’ll be leaving soon anyway," Theodore replied with his head hanging, still not quite awake from his sleep.

Theodore and Roxanne quickly cleaned up their tent, and Theodore put it back into the sacred dimension. After that, Roxanne called Geoffrey and Celia to come back from a distance.

Soon, Geoffrey and Celia, along with the old grandfather, returned to the bamboo hut with three lorries full of rice that had just been harvested. Theodore frowned when he saw them return.

"Are these grains safe to eat?" Theodore picked up a few strands of rice on the lorry they were pushing.

"There is no problem so far. But I’m also afraid there might be a problem," the old man replied with a hint of worry in his voice.

"You’d better be careful. I heard that even plants can evolve into monsters," Theodore replied to warn the old man.

"I’ll keep that in mind." The old grandfather nodded his head. "If you want to take some, I can’t cultivate this much," the old grandfather continued as he offered his rice to Theodore.

"Would it be alright if you gave it to us?" Geoffrey immediately replied to the old man’s words.

"No problem, you’re doing me a favor anyway," the old man replied with a soft chuckle.

"Then I’ll take this one lorry. I’ll give you other foodstuffs in exchange." Theodore had intended to help the old man before they left.

"I will gladly accept," replied the old man, feeling very grateful to Theodore.

Theodore then told Geoffrey to push the lorry near their car. Theodore then followed the old man into the bamboo hut.

Theodore took out the foodstuffs that could last for a long time because he didn’t see any refrigerator or freezer there. Theodore gave me some vegetables and fruit. Not only that, he also gave some meat that the old man could eat quickly.

Then, Theodore took out a black sword from his sacred dimension and gave it to the old man.

"Use this sword to defend yourself and use this magic scroll if you see anyone suspicious coming with bad intentions, they won’t find your bamboo hut." Theodore gave the sword and the invisible magic scroll to the old man.

"Thank you very much for helping me, I’ll use it well," the old man replied with great gratitude to Theodore.

After that, Theodore left the bamboo hut and invited the other members to get into the car immediately to prepare to continue their journey.
