In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]
Chapter 243: Abduction (1)
Niftan frowned slightly as he looked outside.
What was that?
It was not just him. Riri also knitted his brows, and he suddenly lost interest in playing. He went to Niftan.
"Grandpa... Rise, where is he?"
Until now, Rise had not changed Riri’s way of calling him. Riri’s adorable face now had a trace of concern.
Niftan did not know what to answer the child, but he scooped him up and smiled slightly. "Don’t worry. Grandpa will call your dad."
Riri tilted his head slightly.
"But I want to see Rise, not Daddy."
After all, he already knew that his daddy, Kamille, had departed to that other home and was not in this city. He misunderstood, and so Niftan only thought the child had yet to acknowledge Rise as his daddy.
He did not make it confusing either. He nodded to the child.
"Right. Grandpa will call Rise, for now, uh..." Niftan looked up and called one of his staff members there. "Look after Riri first."
"Understood, General."
Riri looked at him, and Niftan brushed the child’s hair.
"Stay with big brother here first. I’ll go find Rise. Alright?" His tone was soft and assuring, despite the sudden nervousness that unusually rose within his heart.
Riri stared at him, and seeing his worry, he was sensible and did not make a fuss. He nodded obediently and let the staff take him from Niftan’s arms.
Niftan smiled again. "I’ll be right back with Rise," he promised, and after giving one last look at his staff, he turned around.
Riri could only watch his back as he left. Subconsciously, his little hands clenched into fists. Something... seemed wrong. The little child had yet to understand what this feeling was.
Niftan’s smile faded as soon as he stepped outside of Riri’s playroom. His secretary quickly went to him and stood by his side.
Niftan paid him no mind and took his personal phone from his pocket. He began dialing Rise’s phone. For some reason, he truly had a bad feeling about this.
The phone rang, but no one was answering. Niftan frowned; he hung it up and dialed again. This time, it was not ringing anymore. Niftan’s expression hardened even further.
He looked at his phone screen. It was not new. This was something that happened before. Rise, that brat, occasionally turned off his phone whenever Niftan called him.
However, that was before. Their relationship had gotten better, and there was no need for Rise to turn off his phone.
Unless... That brat found him annoying again or... Something happened to him.
Niftan’s face went serious, he put his phone in his pocket and looked at his secrecy. "Let’s go to the monitor room."
For now, he could only look for Rise’s movements. Niftan did not know where he went or who Rise met, and so he could not make it a grand affair.
But only for now. Niftan did not mind making a big deal out of everything for his one and only son.
The secretary was confused, but he followed without a word. Just the heavy pressure around Niftan was enough to know he was in a pretty bad mood. They soon entered the monitor room.
Niftan quickly waved his hand to stop them from saluting and went straight to the point.
"I want to see Rise Lee’s movements. Everything."
Everyone here knew who Rise Lee was, but did not know their relationship. Still, as it was the Union General’s orders, they could only nod.
Though confused, everyone immediately worked. They started at the time Niftan provided as the man stood behind them, looking at the monitors, his eyes swept around them.
It was not long before Rise’s figure appeared. Without Niftan saying, everything followed his movements until he entered a taxi.
From this, they could still access the other CCTVs installed in the streets and, if possible, request access to other establishments’ records.
It was still going fine until it went past the intersection. The monitors suddenly flickered and glitched.
"Huh? What’s happening?" The staff there were dumbfounded.
"Ah, sorry, general. I don’t know... something’s wrong with the CCTVs or the records." He fiddled with it and went past a few minutes and saw that it was working! He returned to the timestamp where the taxi disappeared.
It was still glitching!
"Hey. What’s going on?"
The other shook his head. "I don’t know. Really." He looked at the general, who now had a serious expression. "General. Forgive us, we don’t know what happened."
Niftan looked at the other monitors, who were doing the same thing at only a particular time stamp when the taxi possibly passed by. All of them glitched until they did not know where the taxi went.
His feelings turned worse, and Niftan clenched his jaw and looked up at his secretary. Of course, he would not vent his rising anger due to worry about these people.
"Call everyone to check any surveillance records at the establishments around where the taxi passed by. And also, the other surrounding establishments to see if Rise went to them."
His secretary affirmed and knew it was urgent, bowed slightly before he went and did Niftan’s orders.
Niftan looked at the others in the monitoring room, waiting cautiously. He waves his hand. "I know. Thank you for cooperating. Go return to your work."
He did not linger and quickly left. His footsteps became urgent, and he also made another call. This time, to other forces under him. He truly had a bad feeling about this.
In fact, he knew it might be needless worry, and Rise would laugh at him as he returned later. Rise was not weak, Niftan knew that. However, there was something in this incident that he could not help but worry about.
The monitors... and this foreboding feeling, Niftan could not just ignore it. After this series of calls, Niftan thought of the Special Department espers.
Rise did not have many friends; he could only think of them.
"General?" The leader of this squad answered him, shocked.
Niftan went straight to the point again. He had no time for so many pleasantries.
"Did you meet Rise?"
There was a pause. "Rise? No, we didn’t. Is there a problem, General?"
"No," Niftan took a deep breath. "For now. Can I trouble you to ask anyone you know if they met Rise?"
After hearing his agreement, Niftan directly hung up his phone and moved his feet much faster than before. The urgency in his heart rose in each passing second.
Half an hour passed, and Niftan’s mood grew heavier.
"What do you mean? Can you repeat that?" His voice was heavy. The kind tone was nowhere to be found.
The secretary gripped his tablet and repeated.
"The reports arrived, and they said the same glitches also happened in these establishments and the nearby buildings."
"At the same time?"
"Yes, General."
"You’re telling me... Nothing could be seen because of the glitches, and now we don’t know where Rise was headed."
The secretary only nodded his head and lowered his head.
Niftan gripped his seat. His heart was surging with anxiety, but even more, rage. To the possibility that someone dared to harm his son.
"Go send them to find Rise or any trails. No matter the cost."
