Chapter 100: Chapter 100: The Capital: Solaris City

The Sky Cutter descended through a layer of luminous clouds, and Solaris City unfolded beneath them like a jeweled tapestry.

Damon leaned gracefully against the ornate mahogany railing, his luminous golden eyes scanning the bustling, radiant metropolis spread out below him.

He watched with keen interest, his sharp mind already dissecting the layout of the sprawling city.

The city was vast, a sprawl of white marble and gold-trimmed rooftops that stretched to the horizon.

Wide canals glittered with reflected light, crisscrossed by elegant bridges. Even from this height, he could see the movement in the streets, a river of people and carriages flowing between towering structures.

Yet, what truly seized his focused attention were the intricate, sprawling formation arrays interwoven into the city’s architecture.

His gaze traced the sophisticated humming conduits that clearly anchored this city’s formidable, hidden defenses.

Thin lines of pure, golden light traced patterns across major buildings and along the main thoroughfares.

They pulsed with a gentle, constant energy, making the entire city seem to breathe light.

As the sun dipped toward the western mountains, the arrays grew brighter, compensating for the fading daylight until the city shone with its own internal sun.

’Wow, its very different from Azure Cloud or Crimson Moon, The Solaris family isn’t playing around.’he thought.

"Impressive, isn’t it?" Lark’s voice came from beside him.

She had removed her core disciple robe, standing in the simple tunic and pants of a disciple.

The disguise necklace was still firmly in place, but her posture was different here, more relaxed, as if she was returning to familiar ground.

"It’s bright," Damon said.

"That’s one word for it." A smile touched her lips, barely there.

"The arrays purify the air, repel low-level demonic beasts, and provide light. They are the foundation of the capital’s peace."

"And a constant reminder of who’s in charge."

Lark glanced at him, her disguised eyes narrowing slightly.

"Perception is a form of power."

The ship banked smoothly, heading for a wide, circular landing platform built atop a fortified complex near the city’s center.

Other vessels, some larger and more ornate, were already docked, their hulls marked with the sigils of different sects and noble families.

With a soft hum, the Sky Cutter settled onto the platform. The formation’s light died down, and the gangplank extended with a metallic sigh.

Mei appeared at the top of the plank, looking utterly unaffected by the journey. She adjusted the sleeve of her qipao, her gaze sweeping over the bustling dock.

"Stay close." she said, not looking back at them.

"The capital has rules, and eyes everywhere. Try not to make a trouble before the auction."

She led the way down, her heels clicking on the polished stone. Damon and Lark followed.

The air in Solaris City was different.

It was clean, carrying a faint, sweet scent like sun-warmed stone and blooming flowers.

The spiritual energy here was thicker, richer, tinged with that dominant light attribute. It buzzed against his skin like a constant stimulation.

They exited the docking complex through a grand archway and stepped onto a main avenue.

The street was paved with pale, seamless stone that glowed from within. Buildings rose five or six stories on either side, their facades decorated with intricate solar motifs.

People dressed in fine silks and linens moved with purpose, and the occasional guard patrol in polished silver armor marched past, their presence calm but watchful.

Vendors sold glowing fruits and shimmering trinkets from carts. A troupe of performers conjured illusions of dancing light-birds for a crowd of laughing children.

It was vibrant, orderly, and utterly controlled.

"Come, This way." Mei said, turning down a slightly quieter side street.

They walked for another ten minutes before stopping before a building that outshone its neighbors.

The Golden Sun Pavilion was a vertical palace of white gold and crystal.

Its front was a cascade of terraces filled with lush, exotic plants, and the same light arrays that covered the city were woven into its very structure in complex, beautiful patterns.

The main doors were massive, carved from a single piece of amber-hued wood, and stood open, revealing a lobby of marble and soft light.

A man in immaculate gold-trimmed robes hurried out, bowing deeply as Mei approached.

"Honored Lady Meu! Your suites are prepared, as requested."

"Good. These are my companions. Damon. Lark." Mei’s smiled.

The manager bowed again, his eyes flicking over them with practiced neutrality.

"Of course. Welcome to the Golden Sun Pavilion. Please, follow me."

The interior was cool and serene. The floor was a mosaic of gold and white tiles, and a gentle illumination filled the space.

They followed the manager past a central courtyard where a fountain of liquid light bubbled silently, and into a private elevator powered by a humming spirit stone.

It rose smoothly to the fifteenth floor.

The hallway here was wide and silent, lined with doors of dark, polished wood. The manager stopped at two adjacent doors.

"Master Damon, your suite." He gestured to the door on the left.

"And for Master Lark, the suite beside it." He produced two crystalline keys, handing one to each of them.

"Your belongings from the ship will be brought up shortly. Is there anything else?"

"No." Mei answered for them. She waited until the manager bowed and retreated back down the hall.

Then she turned to Damon, her deep purple eyes gleaming with open amusement.

She looked from his door to Lark’s, then back to his face.

"You guys rooms are next to each other." she said, her voice a low, teasing purr.

"How convenient. The walls are quite thick, of course. But the balconies... they share a connecting partition. One that can be unlocked from either side."

She leaned closer, the scent of her perfume, something like night-blooming jasmine, wrapping around him.

"A thoughtful design, don’t you think?"

With a final, mischievous smile that promised she knew far more than she was saying, she turned and walked gracefully down the hall toward her own suite, leaving Damon and Lark standing alone in the silent corridor.
