Chapter 38: Come for a Spar

It was now a few hours to the break. Kael had begun expecting that the town would have at least found a way to evacuate the humans that were inside him, but that was yet to be done.

He sat on the walls watching when he spotted a familiar face, three familiar faces. The three kids that he had beat up yesterday had now returned. The leader with the giant sword seemed to be burning with fury and eager to do something.

"You have to calm down. Who knows if you’ll even see the goblin again?" the mage said, trying to be sensible.

"Tch, I don’t care. I’m going to find that goblin, and this time I’ll defeat him for sure," he said in anger, not willing to hear anything else about it.

"Oh? He is looking for me? He wants a round two so soon?"

Kael watched him progress, eyes darting around like a madman.

"Well, I am pretty bored. I might as well just do that before this whole thing starts."

With that in mind, he found another hobgoblin and used Wraith Steps. His consciousness was transferred like before.

"Alright," he said as he clenched his fists to get a feel for his body. After that, he strolled, headed their way with the casual steps of someone who was off to run an errand.

When he came across the group finally, he leaned his back against the wall and folded his arms, needing to be cool.

The leader spotted him first. He pointed immediately.

"There it is!"

The other two looked.

"You sure it’s him? It looks a bit different," the lady said.

"Tch, the looks are not what matter here. I can tell that’s him," the leader declared and pulled his sword from his back.

"I’ll take you on this time. Last time you caught me off guard. Let me show you my true strength."

As he yelled those words, a powerful force erupted from his body. It caused the ground to crack.

"You are really going to use your Primordial Dragon Bloodline for this?" the mage asked in disbelief.

"Shut up," he growled.

His eyes had changed and were now dragon-like and glowing. His body emitted a soft steam into the air, and his veins bulged like they wanted to rip through his body.

’Ouu, interesting,’ Kael thought as he propped himself off the wall and stood facing the leader.

’An ability, huh? That’s pretty neat. The issue now is, how good is it?’

"You could not hold your ground last time, so I wonder how you plan to do that now," Kael spoke.

When he heard Kael, the leader snapped. That was the last straw for him. Not only did he lose, he was now getting mocked.

He pressed his foot against the ground, and in one stride he blasted forward. He pulled his blade back and went for a powerful slash.

Kael watched the slash coming. He leaped backward into the air as the blade cut through the air and slashed into the ground.

BOOM!

The floor was left with a massive gash in the ground. Debris flew in every direction. He gritted his teeth and pulled the sword out.

"Arghhhhh! Don’t run, face me!" His voice thundered in a way that caused the walls to shake, probably an effect of his bloodline.

He leaped into the air, sword in hand, and slashed down at Kael.

Kael looked up at the attack. He smirked, waited for the right moment, and then spun in the air, just enough to get out of the slash. Then he kicked the side of the sword to help propel himself even further.

He landed a few feet away while the sword slammed into the ground again with a very explosive force.

The leader looked stunned. He was certain that his attack would have cleaved Kael in two.

Kael looked at him with eyes that said it all: we are not in the same league. Then he raised his hands.

A magical formation appeared on the roof.

"I’m sorry about this, but this is genuinely the only magic spell that I have learned. I should really absorb more one of these days."

He said before unleashing the explosion spell.

This was unexpected and scary for the leader.

He gritted his teeth and leaped out of the way with all his strength as the blast slammed into the ground like a bomb, sending debris flying like bullets.

The three adventurers stared in shock when they saw the blast. Even with the bloodline activated, their leader would have died for sure if that attack had connected.

"Oops, seems I went overboard," Kael said as the attack ended. He walked in their direction with slow and steady steps.

The leader raised his sword, ready to take Kael down even if it meant his life as well.

"Don’t. I’m not fighting anymore. You’ve already helped me have some fun, so that’s where I’ll stop," Kael said. "If you proceed further than this, you’ll die," he warned in a cold tone, only for a smile to form on his face the very next second.

"And since you have managed to make me smile, I’ll tell you this: a dungeon break is starting soon. Leave the dungeon and run back to town if you do not want to end up as a dead body."

As the words he spoke reached them, they were instantly stunned.

"What?" the mage asked in shock.

"You heard me. I don’t plan to repeat what I said, so leave," Kael said and turned around, waving over his head.

"If you survive, do well to come back and spar with me more. Next time, all of you should come at me."

The leader of the group was seething as he watched Kael walk away. He realized that to Kael, he was a good time. He was not even a threat worth caring for. This very thing bit at his pride so much that he swore right there he would come for Kael, and he would win.
