Infinite Dungeon Evolution in a Game-Like World
Chapter 42: Move up
Kael had sensed the moment Violet had rushed into the dungeon. He saw her face covered in fear and her body in wounds; he knew instantly that something was wrong. Then he spotted them, the attackers rushing in like shadows.
’What’s happening? Is someone trying to kill her?’ he wondered.
"Kael, help me."
He heard Violet speak, asking for help where she stood. In that moment, he did not ask any more questions.
"Lilith, I need your help," Kael said, speaking to Lilith, who was in the floor five chamber along with Guu.
"What do you want?" she asked.
"First floor. Someone dear to me is about to be killed. Kill the attackers, please."
Lilith heard the seriousness in the voice that spoke, and so she rose to her feet, grabbed her sword, took one step, and then vanished.
She moved through the floors so fast that she turned into a blur that he could barely see. She got past the fourth, the third, the second, and then the first floor.
When she got there, she could already sense where Violet was, so she bolted there.
"You said I should not kill humans, did you not?" she asked Kael while she ran. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Yes, except for times like this. I don’t know why they are chasing her right now, but ensure that their deaths are as clean and final as possible."
"My pleasure," she muttered.
Violet came into her view soon, as well as the shadows that were chasing her. Her eyes glowed for a moment as she pinpointed the exact position of each of them. She pressed her foot hard against the ground, and in one stride she blasted forward at twice the speed she had used to come here.
Everything moved in slow motion for her. Her blade cut through the air in a clean arc, decapitating the first shadow. The blood had yet to show, the head had yet to move, but her blade found the neck of the second with ease and dug into it as well.
Her feet only touched the ground ever so lightly to change her direction a few times, and when she was past all of them, her sword had gone through them all.
She landed on the ground, sword in her hand, and not a single drop of blood was on it. The bodies of the shadows were split in two behind her, and blood gushed out of their bodies like beautiful red fountains as they collapsed.
Violet, who had been trying to get away, heard the sounds of bodies hitting the ground. She turned and saw that all the shadows had been killed, and standing there was a stunning lady with a sword in her hand.
Lilith turned around and stared right at Violet for a solid two seconds, and then she spoke.
"Come with me, he wants to see you." That was all Lilith said, and then she started walking.
Violet was uncertain if she should follow or not, but there was really never a choice. She had seen what Lilith could do; there was no way that she could try anything.
She hoped that whoever he was, it was Kael.
Kael watched Lilith lead her back to the fifth floor, so he decided to use Wraith Steps to enter a hobgoblin and wait there for her. This would be the first time that she would be speaking to him, not through the spell.
When they arrived, Violet saw the hobgoblin seated on the chest at the center of the room. She also saw the goblin champion in one corner. Worry crept in on her, and she paused her steps out of fear.
"Don’t be scared, Violet," Kael said.
When she heard the voice, she immediately recognized it. Her eyes widened.
"Kael?" she asked, still uncertain.
"Yeah, it’s me. I’m just borrowing this body for now."
"I see," she replied. It wasn’t because she was not shocked, but her body was too tired for any more reaction. After confirming who it was, she collapsed to the ground.
Kael leaped off the chest and rushed to her. He grabbed her and held her up.
"I’m sorry, I’m just exhausted," she said with a shaky smile. Then she grabbed his shoulder.
"William, you have to help William, please," she begged.
"What happened to William? Who were those guys chasing you?" He asked two questions at the same time.
Violet began explaining soon after, and the more that Kael heard, the more his rage grew. His anger towards Robert increased, and he had never met the dude.
"The whole town is going to execute him as a criminal and someone that works with the Blood Moon Cult," she said, her last line with tears filling her eyes.
"The whole town? Are there no people who genuinely know William and his character?" Kael asked.
"There are, but they would not care. They’ll all kill him regardless."
"Tch." Kael clicked his tongue in rage.
"Give me a moment," he said, and then pulled his consciousness from the goblin. The goblin collapsed, still alive though, but weak.
Kael searched through the floors, and when he found a mage with very good healing magic, he wasted no time, not even hesitating for a moment. He opened the ground, and the mage fell into a pit with spikes and died.
Kael absorbed his ability and then returned back into the body of the goblin. He grabbed Violet again and then cast the spell, and a green magical circle formed under them. It glowed brightly, and the particles of light from it worked on her wounds and healed them all.
When he was done, she was as good as new, healed down to her bones.
Kael stood up after he had healed her.
"We will be attacking your town in an hour. The deadline has been moved up, and we will save William before nightfall." He spoke with full conviction, then he looked at Guu.
"Can you do me a favor? Find me anyone in this entire dungeon with the strongest sword ability that you can find and bring them here."
