Chapter 98: Vital point discernment

In a world where myriad races converge, one would think the number one problem they would face once there was conflict was lack of knowledge on their opponents’ vitals.

After all, though mating processes were mostly the same, the physical and internal anatomy of various races were each unique and distinct.

And in reality, no one could go around thinking they’d have all knowledge on every race that exists. Not even the sacred races could boast this feat.

But surprisingly, a problem that was supposed to be the number one barrier for conflict barely existed.

The Treants’ eyes flashed as they stared at Seth and the others coldly.

They had never seen such a race before, but within barely a few minutes of meeting them, the Treants had summarized the key vital points that could be fatal to humans if struck.

How did they do this? Too easy...

Intelligent lifeforms mostly crafted their combat forms and arts around their being.

Taking self-defense, abilities, advantages, disadvantages, and other things into account.

As a foe, if enlightened enough, your opponent would become an open book you could flip through at your whims.

From his gait, his stance, the way he carried himself — not only would you be able to glean his potential vitals.

If experienced enough, you’d be able to filter out your opponent’s abilities, their weaknesses, and heck, you could even calculate every action they would make before they did.

This vital art of discernment was the number one art of survival myriad lifeforms had to learn and adapt to in the Origin Realm.

Not only could it help you in battle, but enough knowledge of this art could also allow you to mislead your opponent by using a false posture or tinkering with your gait.

Unfortunately for Seth and the others, such a technique was still way out of their knowledge.

Seth’s heels dug across the earth, his body arced forward — all this in a desperate attempt to kill momentum.

His face was contorted from pain, his muscles spasming out of control.

Every twitch and strain on his tendons caused a blinding, burning pain.

The venom wreaked havoc across his body. He could feel the vile substance leaking into his veins, riding his bloodstream.

Grabbing his chest so tight his fingers almost dug through his flesh, Seth’s expression turned frantic.

The venom was heading straight to his heart. If nothing was done in the next few seconds, he’d be dead.

Seth wasn’t scared of death. After all, this was the Origin Realm — death here wasn’t permanent. But the cost?

Seth didn’t dare imagine it. All the important loot he had gathered, his stat points — none of these could be lost.

And then there were his friends. If they died, wouldn’t they be regressing to the Shackled Rank?

No, he couldn’t let things end like this...

His will burned, and his frame ballooned, his Asura body morphing into existence.

The red of the Asura conflicted with the blue of the poison. His veins squirmed, Seth clenched his teeth twice, but still pained grunts escaped his throat.

It was like a vat of liquid fire and cold steel being pumped through his veins, his skin under constant laceration.

Worse, he was beginning to lose feeling in small parts of his body.

His skull went numb as he realized, ’this crap also has a paralysis effect.’

Fortunately, he had the Asura body — a physique that amplified a certain trait of the human race.

A trait humans had long before the ignition of the racial lamp.

The trait of adaptation. When activated, the Asura body facilitated endless adaptation in battle.

And now he had to pray that it could adapt to this. His veins writhed, and his eyes gleamed.

He could feel the antibodies being pumped into his bloodstream in droves. The pain the venom wrought wasn’t as blinding.

The spasms of his muscles weren’t as rhythmic. Now it was a race of who could reach the heart first.

Wherever the venom coursed, he could feel the stinging burn of pain. And wherever the antibodies coursed, the revitalizing chill followed.

In the distance, the hostile Treant Gani frowned. How lethal was his poison?

It was something he, as the wielder, was well aware of. Anyone would barely last three seconds after getting a single scratch from him.

But these guys...

His gaze narrowed. This uneasy feeling he had in his heart, his lips twisted into an unpleasant frown.

But his essence wasn’t idle, already boiling into the atmosphere. This time, a single purple seed appeared in his palms.

’i don’t know why I feel so uneasy, but I shouldn’t drag this for too long,’ he fiddled with the seed for a few seconds as he thought, then threw it into the earth soil beneath.

His five teammates watched as Gani dealt with Seth’s group from afar.

One couldn’t help but raise a brow on seeing Gani’s action. "Wait, he’s actually taking this seriously?"

No one replied. Both Vamel and Shaine watched this spectacle with little interest.

To be honest, Vamel had expected more from this group. But this?

They were too weak... His eyes flashed as he sensed something. His pupils locked onto Elaine’s figure and narrowed.

"Maybe not that weak after all." He murmured beneath his breath.

The moment the purple seed landed on the earth, it sank into the dark, rich soil and cracked.

Small purple tendrils stretched out from the crack and made contact with a stream of essence.

And like a tiny spark of flame meeting with a stream of petrol, the seed erupted, the soil it resided within boiling with fervent intensity.

Meanwhile, Seth had just managed to cull the rampant venom running wild in his system. He had barely regained bearing enough to check on the others when...

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A cacophony of eruptions ran wild in the forest. Trees were ripped from the roots up, soil erupting like wild geysers.

A series of towering purple vines erupted from the earth, their bodies riddled with venomous spikes, as they coiled out of the ground in troves.

A chill sank down Seth’s spine as shadows of the plants cast over him, their wriggling masses reflecting in his eyes.

He swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing down his throat. "We have to leave now."

Suddenly, he found the first option these guys provided a lot more appealing.
