Infinite Rebate: I Get Richer Every Time I Spend
Chapter 19: Lunch Invitation
Lucas then returned to the classroom, ignoring the shocked gazes of his classmates as he went back to his seat.
Max moved his chair closer to Lucas and leaned his head in. He asked with a grin, "Lucas, what did School Beauty Mia want with you just now?"
Lucas replied casually, "Nothing much, she just wanted to treat me to lunch!"
Oh my god! You call that ’nothing much’!!
Max was instantly struck by Lucas’s invisible flex. In the past, he would never have believed such a fantastical thing could happen.
But after witnessing that scene just now, the truth was right before his eyes. It was hard for him not to believe it.
In just one short day, it was as if his roommate of several years had suddenly been blessed by a divine light. The man was practically radiant.
Jessica, sitting in the front row, also turned to look at Lucas from time to time, her face full of confusion.
Lucas, however, completely ignored Jessica’s gaze, treating her as if she were a non-existent object.
This caused a mysterious pang of pain in Jessica’s heart. No matter how much Lucas changed, they could never go back to how things were.
A moment later, the teacher entered the classroom with review materials. Lucas did not listen to a word the teacher said. His heart was set on the arrival of lunchtime.
As soon as it hit 11:30, Mia sent a message over.
"Hey, Ross and I have arrived at the restaurant. When are you coming?"
Lucas was actually already at the restaurant entrance, so he did not reply and instead quickened his pace.
Shortly after, he arrived at the small private room they had agreed upon. Mia and Ross were inside, waiting expectantly.
As soon as Lucas entered the room, he said apologetically, "Sorry, I did not expect you to arrive so quickly!"
"It’s our fault we are the ones who got here too early." Mia replied with a quick, embarrassed smile. She then handed the menu to Lucas. "We haven’t ordered yet. See what you like and order for yourself."
Lucas returned the menu to Mia and smiled. "I am not picky. I will eat whatever you order."
Seeing this, Mia did not push further and tried her best to order several of the restaurant’s signature dishes.
This kind of small restaurant in a university canteen is definitely different from the main cafeteria.
It is a commercial, profit-making establishment, and its prices are not much different from restaurants outside.
Students whose families are not very wealthy really cannot afford to eat here. Generally, for three people, spending several hundred or even over a thousand dollars is quite normal.
Mia did not know what kind of food Lucas liked, so she ordered all signature dishes, and the bill quickly approached 2,000 dollars. Of course, this small amount of money was insignificant compared to the gifts Lucas had tipped her in the livestream room yesterday.
After giving the menu to the waiter, the group began to chat casually. Mia asked the question she was most interested in.
"Lucas, is your hometown here in Silvermont, or are you from out of town?"
Lucas certainly had no intention of hiding his family situation. He replied with a smile, "It is basically the outskirts of Silvermont, Dustford. Have you heard of it?"
"Ah! Lucas, you are from Dustford too? My family is also from Dustford!"
Before Mia could say anything, Ross spoke up in surprise from the side. Lucas glanced at Ross, thinking it was quite a coincidence. He had not expected that a casual conversation would reveal a true fellow townsman.
After her initial surprise, Ross became very confused about Lucas’s family background. In a small place like Dustford, there were not any real tycoons.
Those with tens of millions were as rare as phoenix feathers. For someone like Lucas to casually tip over a hundred thousand dollars, even if his family had assets worth hundreds of millions, he should not be squandering it like this.
She then asked, "Um Lucas, what does your family do?"
"Haha, my family does not do much. We are just an ordinary family, and my hometown is actually in the countryside."
"Ah!"
It was not just Ross who could not understand. Mia’s expression was also one of incomprehension. Mia’s Favorability: -10 points. Mia’s Favorability: -5 points.
Hearing the system prompts in his mind, Lucas was also stunned. In just a moment, Mia’s favorability toward him had dropped from 60 points to 45 points. Lucas’s heart instantly chilled.
The goddess he had just developed a crush on could not be this materialistic, could she? He had only just mentioned his family was from the countryside, and 15 points were deducted in a single sentence.
But then he thought about it and felt it was quite normal. Forget a goddess of Mia’s caliber. Even girls with very average looks rarely yearn for the countryside nowadays.
Besides, he and Mia had only just met. There was no emotional foundation to speak of. It was already good enough that the favorability had not dropped to a negative number.
Afterward, the group stopped steering the conversation toward the awkward topic of family. Ross asked with a teasing smile, "Lucas, do you often tip female streamers in livestream rooms?"
"No, I used to just watch livestreams. Yesterday was my first time tipping."
The two of them clearly did not believe Lucas’s answer.
"Lucas, lying is not a good habit!"
"If you do not believe me, you can check the level of my account. That absolutely cannot be faked."
What Lucas said was true. The money he topped up yesterday was basically all given to Mia as tips. A quick comparison with his account level would make it clear at a glance.
Seeing this, the two knew Lucas would not joke with a lie that could be exposed immediately, and they believed him about eighty or ninety percent.
Ross blinked and asked again, "Lucas, you suddenly tipped so many Universes in the livestream room yesterday. You would not happen to have some ulterior motive, would you?"
Lucas did not expect Ross to ask this and was momentarily stunned. He glanced at Mia, hesitated for a moment, and then said seriously, "A fair maiden is a gentleman’s good match. Does that count as a motive?"
Lucas’s answer caused Mia’s fair face to instantly turn beet red. She had not expected Lucas to admit it so bluntly. Ross chuckled and said, "Then you will have to work hard, Senior. There are quite a few outstanding boys chasing our Mia."
Hearing Ross continue to tease her, Mia gave her a gentle push. She chided, "Ross, stop talking nonsense."
The atmosphere afterward was a bit awkward, but fortunately, the waiter brought out the dishes. The group then chatted while eating. By the end of the meal, they had learned a bit more about each other.
After the meal, Mia thanked him once again. "Lucas, thank you again for the tips yesterday. We will head back now."
Hearing this, Lucas hurriedly asked, "Mia, are you going to livestream today?"
"I usually livestream more on Saturdays and Sundays. I do not livestream much during the week because I have classes."
Mia replied with a smile. Lucas’s heart sank halfway. He had finally completed the system’s requirement for a private meeting, and his familiarity with Mia had definitely reached the standard.
He was just thinking about getting a ten-fold rebate tonight, so he asked again, refusing to give up, "Can you do a stream tonight? It does not have to be long. One hour is enough."
Although she did not understand why Lucas had such a request, Mia hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.
