Infinite Rebate: I Get Richer Every Time I Spend
Chapter 28: A Punch Worth $4 Million
Lucas entered a cab and headed straight toward Ashford University.
Originally, he had planned to return to the Fingal Hotel, but after what had just happened at Henry’s place, he suddenly changed his mind.
Right now, he desperately needed to clear his head.
Leaning against the back seat, Lucas stared blankly out the window as Silvermont’s streets flashed past one after another.
Yet no matter how hard he tried to distract himself, one particular image kept replaying inside his mind.
Morgana ass.
More specifically...
That moment.
The curve of her body.
The way her hips had swayed naturally when she bent over to place the fruit on the table.
Lucas immediately shook his head hard.
"No. I didn’t see anything."
He muttered under his breath, almost trying to convince himself.
That’s Henry’s girlfriend.
Future wife.
Basically family.
Nothing happened.
Still...
His thoughts refused to cooperate.
Frustrated, Lucas pulled out his phone, hoping something online would distract him.
The moment he unlocked the screen, he immediately noticed something strange.
The class Discord group was unusually active.
That alone was suspicious.
Normally, aside from assignment reminders or random gossip, nobody talked that much.
But today?
The unread messages had exploded.
Lucas frowned slightly.
Just as he was about to open it, his phone suddenly rang.
It was Max.
Lucas answered casually.
"Hey."
"Lucas, are you not coming to class?" Max asked immediately.
Lucas leaned lazily against the seat.
"Not really. It’s just self-study anyway. Boring as hell."
There was a brief pause before Max suddenly laughed.
"Forget class. Have you checked the class Discord group?"
Lucas frowned.
"No. Why?"
"Bro... everyone’s talking about you."
Only then did Lucas remember.
He had muted both his university group and his old high school group months ago.
After chatting with Max for another minute, Lucas finally ended the call and opened the class Discord.
The moment he entered, he blinked.
Hundreds of unread messages.
Scrolling through them casually, he quickly realized the topic of discussion.
Him.
More specifically...
Why he had suddenly changed so much.
Apparently, nearly everyone had reached the same conclusion.
Lucas had won the lottery.
Someone had even gone as far as investigating nearby lottery shops around Ashford University.
Coincidentally, a first-prize ticket had reportedly been sold near campus within the last two days.
The rumored prize pool exceeded $8 million.
Even after taxes, there would still be over $7 million left.
For ordinary university students, that amount of money was practically unimaginable.
Most fresh graduates struggled to earn even a few thousand dollars a month.
Some people might never save that amount in their entire lives.
Meanwhile, Jessica had also completely believed the rumor.
The timing was simply too suspicious.
According to the reports, the winning numbers were announced on the exact same night she broke up with Lucas.
What hurt even more...
The ticket had apparently been purchased the day before.
Meaning...
Whether they broke up or not...
Lucas would still have become rich.
And judging by how devoted Lucas used to be toward her, Jessica knew exactly what would have happened.
If they had stayed together...
A huge portion of that money would have been spent on her.
Designer bags.
Luxury dinners.
Cars.
Anything she wanted.
Thinking about that possibility made regret twist painfully inside her chest.
The more she thought about it, the harder it became to breathe.
She had thrown away someone who suddenly became rich.
Meanwhile, Lucas only glanced at the gossip briefly before closing the app.
He genuinely could not care less.
Lottery?
Sure.
If people wanted to believe that story, then let them.
It saved him the trouble of explaining anything.
By the time the cab stopped near the entrance of Ashford University, Lucas had already calmed down significantly.
After paying the fare, he stepped out and began walking along one of the shaded campus roads.
The afternoon sunlight filtered softly through the trees.
Students walked past in groups, chatting and laughing while carrying drinks and books.
Yet Lucas’s thoughts had already drifted elsewhere.
Mia should probably livestream again today.
If she streamed again tonight, he could continue testing the Infinite Rebate System.
Just as he was thinking—
SCREEECH!
A sharp sound suddenly rang out.
A black sports car came to an abrupt stop barely inches away from him.
Lucas’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
"What the hell?!"
For a brief second, cold sweat almost broke across his forehead.
Sure, he had the Infinite Rebate System.
But he definitely had not reached the stage where he could survive getting hit by a speeding car.
Before Lucas could even get angry, the driver’s door suddenly swung open.
A beautiful woman stepped out.
She looked around twenty-three or twenty-four, wearing sunglasses and designer clothing that immediately screamed money.
Her long hair flowed smoothly over her shoulders, and despite how stunning she looked, the expression on her face ruined the image completely.
She marched straight toward Lucas and placed her hands on her hips.
"You bastard," she snapped angrily. "Are you trying to scam someone? Can’t you watch where you’re walking?"
Lucas stared at her in disbelief.
Then anger instantly surged upward.
"Are you sick in the head?" he shot back. "You almost hit me with your car, and now you’re blaming me?"
Nina clearly had not expected anyone inside a university campus to speak to her like that.
Especially not a guy who did not instantly fold after seeing her looks.
Her expression darkened immediately.
"Who are you calling sick?" she snapped. "I think you’re the one with problems! Who told you to walk in the middle of the road?"
Lucas almost laughed from disbelief.
"Idiot," he said coldly. "This is campus. Even if I was walking in the middle of the road, if you were not driving so damn fast, would this have happened?"
The moment Nina heard that, her expression darkened even further.
"Bastard!"
"Who are you calling an idiot?"
"Get lost and stop blocking my car!"
At that point, Lucas’s patience snapped.
If she had spoken politely, maybe he would have let things go.
After all, she was beautiful.
But instead?
Aggressive from the start.
Arrogant.
Entitled.
And now she was ordering him around.
Lucas slowly turned toward the sports car beside him.
Without warning...
BANG!!!
His fist smashed heavily into the hood.
The force behind the punch was terrifying.
A large dent instantly sank inward.
Silence.
Complete silence.
Nina froze.
Her eyes widened completely.
She instinctively stumbled backward several steps.
"You... what are you doing?!"
Her voice suddenly lost much of its confidence.
"Wait here. I’ll call my boyfriend for you. You won’t escape this!"
The moment Lucas threw that punch, his anger actually faded slightly.
And almost immediately...
Regret followed.
Damn.
That was impulsive.
This was not how he usually behaved.
Was the system making him more arrogant?
Looking at Nina’s frightened expression, most of his anger disappeared.
Lucas exhaled slowly.
"I was impulsive."
"Let’s talk compensation."
Nina blinked in disbelief.
One second he looked like he wanted to kill somebody.
Now he suddenly calmed down?
She sneered inwardly.
So he’s scared after hearing about my boyfriend.
Typical.
Walking toward the front of the car, she checked the damage.
The moment she saw the dent, her blood pressure rose instantly.
She had only gotten this car less than half a month ago.
Her father only agreed after endless begging.
And now?
One punch ruined it.
"You bastard!" she shouted furiously. "Does my car owe you money? Why the hell would you hit it so hard?"
Lucas remained calm.
"Enough talking."
"How much?"
"I’ll compensate you."
Nina looked him up and down.
His clothes looked ordinary.
No luxury brands.
No expensive watch.
Nothing about him screamed rich.
She laughed coldly.
"Easy for you to say."
"Do you even know what this car costs?"
"Have you heard of a Porsche 911?"
"The full price was $1.76 million."
"Your punch caused at least $300,000 worth of damage."
She crossed her arms.
"Can you even afford that?"
Lucas remained expressionless.
Honestly, he did not care.
He just wanted to settle the issue and leave.
"Give me your account," he said calmly. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"I’ll transfer it."
Nina paused.
Surprised.
Students who could casually pull out over $300,000 at Ashford University could practically be counted on one hand.
And Lucas definitely was not someone she recognized.
Still...
Judging from his expression, he did not seem to be joking.
Half doubtful, half curious, she opened her payment QR code.
Lucas glanced at it briefly.
"You said at least $300,000."
"I’ll give you $400,000."
"That should settle things, right?"
Nina stared at him blankly.
Four hundred thousand?
Even she did not have that much sitting casually in her account.
"Fine," she said coldly.
"If you actually transfer the money, we’ll call it even."
"Otherwise?"
She narrowed her eyes.
"I’m calling the police."
A moment later, her phone vibrated.
Nina lowered her head casually.
Then...
Her eyes widened.
Balance Increased: +$400,000
Her breathing stopped.
Meanwhile, Lucas suddenly froze as well.
[Ding! Congratulations to the host for receiving a rebate of $4 million!]
