Chapter 114: Heavenly Steps [ 4 ]

<Difficulty has been calibrated.>

<Ding!>

<Please choose a mission.>

1. Path of the Crafts: Become a certified Master Level Alchemist, a certified Array Arts Master, and lastly, a Master Enchanter.

2. Path of the Chosen: Become the strongest Cultivator in the Lower Heavens (Tier 4-6 Worlds).

3. Path of the Lazy: Seclude yourself in a Tier 4 world for 500 years and do not stop cultivating even once. Path of the Master:

4. Start a sect and turn it into the greatest sect in the Lower Heavens (Tier 4-6 Worlds).

5. Path of the Demon: Kill every being in the Lower Heavens (Tier 4-6 Worlds).

<Once one of these feats is completed, you will be able to proceed up the Heavenly Steps and enter the next world Tier.> 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Xuan stared at all the options, surprised by just how many there were.

Not to mention, they were all very, very ambitious. Well, maybe except Path of the Lazy, where all he needed to do was cultivate for 500 years. He would take it in a heartbeat if he didn’t have anything else going for him.

But that wasn’t the case.

"Yuelan, Sierra, what do you guys..." Xuan glanced around, realizing that they weren’t here anymore. He was sure he had felt the touch of their hands just a moment ago though?

Was it so they couldn’t collude? Was there anything to collude about?

I can’t even message her. This sucks. Well, there’s nothing I can really do about it though. I’ll just have to pick the one I had been hoping to get from the very beginning.

And that one was none other than the Path of the Crafts.

The others interested him too, but his goal was never to be the strongest. Sure, he wanted to be strong... But that as his primary goal? Really?

And Path of the Demon wasn’t really something he needed. After all, he could just massacre one sect and get the Chaotic Evil alignment for his Black Sun Body Tempering.

So finally...

<Ding!>

<You have chosen: Path of the Crafts.>

<You are being transported to the world of your choosing...>

His vision blurred, and Xuan felt like his body was being pulled apart. Thankfully, that feeling didn’t last, as he soon felt his feet touch the marble ground, forcing his eyes to open.

He was atop the Heavenly Steps again. Just this time, there were hundreds of people gathered around, each one waiting their turn to either go down the steps or go up.

It was odd just being another face in the crowd, since he was kind of used to people gawking at him.

But he didn’t hate it.

Adjusting his clothes and making sure he didn’t have a booger sticking out, Xuan went ahead and climbed down the Heavenly Steps. His eyes widened in shock when he saw just how vast this world was.

The clouds were so high up, and so were all the mountains, some of which even reached space itself. On each of those mountains, Xuan spotted hundreds of Cultivators simply sparring or even quietly cultivating.

Yet there were even some greener mountains that had whole sect pavilions built atop them, large valleys filled with Spirit Beasts, and even some underground caves that were filled with miners digging out Spirit Stones from deceased Spirit Beasts.

It was like the currency of the cultivation world, or so he had heard from Hanbi. In that sense, he was broke as hell.

And by the time he arrived at the very bottom, he saw hundreds of people huddled around. Each one had a different sect robe, but every single one had the same goal.

"Hello! Would you like to join the Roaring Midnight Sect?"

"No! Join our Winter Winds Sect!"

"Humph. He clearly looks like someone who’d be a perfect fit for the Horny Lust Dragon Sect."

Xuan was crowded very quickly.

But before it could get too out of hand, the bodies of the sect recruiters began to twist as their heads fell clean off their necks, causing panic to burst outward.

"AAAAAAH!"

"Which idiot dares to—"

SWOOOOSH!

"GAHHHH!"

It was a bloody massacre, and to Xuan, who had just been wanting to take in the surroundings, it was pretty brutal. But then again, since it was none other than Yuelan who was responsible for all of this, he could only sigh in exhaustion.

Turning his head, he spotted Yuelan just slashing her sword at everyone, not minding who she killed. As for Sierra, she was in the middle of... reading a book?

"Heyooo! What did you choose, Xuan?" Yuelan asked, her eyes sparkling. "World domination? Supreme Harem Building? No... Let me guess, you chose to kill everyone?"

Xuan raised a brow. "I chose the Crafts mission. I’ll need to reach Master level in Alchemy, Array Arts, and Enchanting."

"..."

"You’re serious?" Yuelan’s mouth opened wide. "That’s so lame. Tsk... I chose the mission that told me I needed to find the Heavenly Demon’s inheritance ground, complete his trials, and become his official disciple."

Heavenly Demon, huh?

"So you’re going down the evil route?" Xuan asked.

She nodded. "Yep. I don’t really care about anyone except for you and some of the girls I rescued. The others can all go to hell and be fuel for my power."

"Even me?" Sierra chimed in.

Yuelan pouted. "You’re important to Xuan, so you’re important to me. Though, you should watch your back, as I tend to be very overprotective of Xuan, so if you do something bad to him, your head’s going to fly."

Xuan wanted to bonk her over the head because of that threat, but held back when he realized how little Sierra cared about her threat.

"You’re very bold to choose a mission like that. Or should I say, lie about a mission like that? You know I can tell apart lies, right?" Sierra glanced away from the book for a moment as her eyes landed on the surprised Yuelan.

"So what kind of mission did you pick, exactly?"
