"Hmm...? You don’t know?" the old man with the longest beard tilted his head. "I thought you were a bit odd in the head, but is it perhaps because you come from one of the monk sects?"

Xuan let out a sigh, understanding that these guys had some kind of weird perception of him now. Still, it wasn’t like he didn’t want to take advantage of them. "Something like that."

"In that case, listen up," the man said, showing his teeth.

"Most of us can brew Master Level potions and pills, since all they require is patience. But a certified Master Level Alchemist is someone who has reached a Purity of 90% on their Master Level recipes."

"You can’t just do this with Mortal Ranked pills, however. If you want to become a certified Master Level Alchemist, you must reach 90% Pill Purity with Mortal, Spirit, Earth, and Heaven Ranked Master Level recipes."

The old man smiled. "If you can brew at least 5 Master Level Pills of 90% Pill Purity in each rank, then you can go through an official test, which would confirm your skills and make you a certified Master Level Alchemist. That’s about it, young Alchemist Xuan."

Ah.

That was a really big jump from what Xuan could currently do. He needed a lot more experience and practice. Though, this didn’t seem that bad. At most, it would take him a year or two, since if he dedicated his all to Alchemy, he was sure he could become an Alchemist who could brew Heaven Ranked Pills in just a few months.

Getting them to Master Level and mass-producing them afterwards? Well, that would take a lot longer.

Still, with his main question answered, Xuan decided to feed the masses, so he went ahead and tossed the pill toward the three Alchemists. They jumped up like seals, catching the pill and inspecting it, their eyes going wide at the purity.

As for Xuan, he just stood up and dusted himself off. He was considering taking the long-bearded old man as his mentor, since he was the most capable of the bunch. And who didn’t like free stuff? Not Xuan.

"1-100% Pill Purity!"

"O-Old coot, you’re not getting him. I am!"

"He’s mine!"

Though, right as these three old men were about to actually begin fighting over him, the door swung open as a familiar figure walked inside. It was the old man from reception, the same man who Xuan first showed one of his pills to.

It was Alchemist Yuan. He seemed a lot more composed than before. The pressure in his gaze, containing years of experience and authority, was enough to make the three Alchemists submit.

Not Xuan though. If anything, he was a little amused by how these guys treated this guy like some divine being, when in reality, he was only at the peak of the Spirit Lord Realm. Those three were at the bottom.

The difference for them might be huge. For Xuan, however, it was the same.

"My, what a magnificent pill, isn’t it? The Pill Purity is even higher than the one he showed me," Yuan said, approaching the alchemists and then taking the pill, inspecting it closer. "Hmm... I’ve decided."

He turned to Xuan and smiled widely.

"Why don’t you become my disciple?"

The alchemists gasped, their teeth clattering loudly as they couldn’t believe what they’d just heard.

The Alchemist Yuan had just extended a hand and offered to take someone as a disciple? Were the heavens playing tricks on their ears?

No.

They weren’t.

Though, their faces turned pale the moment Xuan opened his mouth.

"I’m sorry, but what are your qualifications, exactly?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

Even Yuan seemed puzzled. "Do you really not know me?"

"No?"

"So back at the reception, did you say all that without... knowing who I was?"

"Obviously."

Yuan could feel a migraine coming. But before he could explain himself, the alchemist from before, the one with the longest beard, stepped up, his heels touching one another as he began curtly explaining:

"Alchemist Yuan is a living legend. He is one of the Ten Master Level Alchemists in the world, and he’s also someone who’s recently started brewing a Divine Ranked Pill... He’s someone just about any alchemist would die to even meet, and yet... That same alchemist is now offering his hand out to you, Xuan."

Wow. How dramatic, Xuan thought, crossing his arms. "I see. It’s a good thing I came here today then. Alchemist Yuan, say I become your disciple. Would you guide me to become a Master Level Alchemist?"

The alchemists gasped once more, whereas Yuan just chuckled. "You’re very bold, but also very, very naive. It’s fine, though. I like it when a disciple has lots to learn. So yes, if you accept my proposal, I will shower you in knowledge like no one ever could. So what do you say, Xuan? Would you like to become my disciple?"

That was good enough for him.

"Naturally," Xuan agreed right away, then stood up. He extended his hand toward the old man, as if going for a handshake. Though, when he heard the three alchemists gasp once more, Xuan couldn’t help but feel like he might’ve done something wrong again.

And he did. Obviously.

"Ahem... Normally, when someone becomes a disciple, they must kowtow to their master."

"I’m not doing that," Xuan said plainly.

Yuan’s brow twitched. He knew Xuan was a troublemaker, playboy idiot, but he also knew that Xuan had the potential to make him a lot of money. And in this case, money triumphed above common courtesy.

So with that in mind, Yuan accepted Xuan’s handshake and the two finally became disciple and master. The three alchemists, on the other hand, finally couldn’t take it anymore as they passed out, their mouths open wide as a tad bit of foam trickled out.

Though neither Xuan nor Yuan minded. After all, they had much more important matters to attend to.

Bringing Xuan to Yuan’s estate and teaching him some basics that he may lack.
