"This is boring..."

Amidst the rustling of paper, sat Xuan in the corner of the room, his expression grim.

He had already learned 30 of the 50 recipes just within three days. However, he very quickly realized half of these recipes were the same.

Change one ingredient and get another potion... At least poison is a little different, Xuan mused as he read through the poison concoction Chapters.

Unlike the regular potions and pills that had the same ingredients, poisons tended to use stuff he didn’t even know existed on Earth.

But clearly, if these people were able to find it here, then it definitely existed. Though he would really love to have a botanist companion right about now.

And... having time to calm my mind... I realized that my bet with Huizhen is off. Xuan flipped the pages. Not only that...

[Qi Blockage has been purged!]

[Progress: 100% / 100%]

[Reaction speed increased!]

[You can now see the flow of Qi!]

[Qi Circulation and efficiency increased by 50%!]

[+5% Qi Purity]

[Enhanced Sensory Adaptation!]

[Qi Blockage Resistance!]

[Qi Pressure Resistance!]

So much stuff... Xuan thought in wonder. And I didn’t even know I had a Qi Blockage. Hanbi really is a savior, isn’t she?

He would’ve probably been fine regardless of her help because of his physique, but that didn’t matter now.

Free strength is free strength. Now, I just need to figure out how to utilize half of this stuff. I also need to learn how to control my domain... That’ll definitely take a while.

Putting that aside for the time being, his gaze landed on Qi Purity. It was the first time he had seen something of the sort, but upon taking a look at his status screen, he saw what it was used for.

<★ Xiao Yuelan - Fourth Level Spirit Master>

Yuelan leveled up to Fourth Level Spirit Master... Xuan smiled, having decided to message her after he was done with alchemy.

Still...

My stats didn’t go up nearly as much as when I first began my training. Though, my senses are definitely sharper because of the training me and Hanbi did.

Aside from that, it seemed like the Qi Purity was for Spiritual Qi. If he had to guess, once he reached 100% Qi Purity, something big would happen.

But then there was another matter...

My Qi Type comprehension went up by so much, Xuan smiled. Space Qi because of the domain, Death Qi and Demonic Qi from killing Foyan. I’ll be able to reach 100% in no time.

Well, that was his other goal. For now, his goal was to survive whatever the Grand Jade Temple had to throw at him.

.

.

.

(4 days later...)

Some time had passed, and finally, Xuan perfectly memorized every single recipe in the book.

He was never a good student, hence why it took him so long. He was especially struggling with the recipes that were considered intermediate level.

Though they’re only intermediate because they mix more ingredients. Beginner level alchemy mixes 2-4 ingredients, and intermediate level is 5-8. It’s definitely a step up since there are many more variables...

But now that the hardest part was out of the way, it was time he got back on track.

He cast a subtle glance at the person lazing around by the table, eating some porridge.

"Hey, when can I start actually making these recipes?" Xuan asked.

Huizhen raised a brow. "Whenever you’ve learned them all. I don’t want you half-assing this."

"Well, I learned them all already, so let’s start," Xuan insisted.

However, that only made Huizhen more skeptical.

"You learned all those recipes already...? Are you sure?"

Xuan rolled his eyes. "The more you question my abilities, the more time we’ll waste. Just show me how to power up this thing."

He pointed to the side where there was a little alchemy station.

There were several flasks and an alchemical fire. Slightly to the side was a simple alchemical cauldron. According to the book, he would need to use his own Qi to refine what was inside the cauldron.

Potions, on the other hand, only needed the right mix of ingredients, and for him to control the alchemical fire properly.

If I had to pick between which one I’d be more keen on doing, then it’s probably the pills in the cauldron. I can make poisons with pills as well, so it’s basically the same...

Anyhow...

"Fine... But if you start asking questions about the recipes, I’ll leave and come back tomorrow. Understand?" Huizhen asked coldly.

"I get the feeling we’re in the same boat," Xuan hummed. "Being bitchy to me will not get you anywhere. Especially if you want to escape alongside me."

Huizhen flinched, his brows furrowing.

"What makes you think I want to abandon the Grand Jade Temple?"

"You like having a parasite wriggling inside you?" Xuan questioned, taking slow steps toward Huizhen. "Do you like people telling you what to do, and you not being able to disobey them?"

Xuan stopped in front of him. "You’re either a stupid sheep or someone who’s scheming behind his owner’s back... I don’t feel that from you. You’re either very good at what you do, or you simply accepted that fate."

Huizhen opened his mouth, as if wanting to reply. However, Xuan raised a hand and spoke instead:

"No need for an answer. You told me that parasite can trigger and kill you if you talk shit about this Grand Jade Cult of yours, so don’t risk it."

"Mhm..." Huizhen nodded with an exhausted look. Right after, he stood up and pushed Xuan aside, nearing the alchemy station.

Turning back around, he nodded at Xuan.

"I can’t tell you anything, but I can at the very least help make sure you don’t suffer the same fate as me. So come here. Let’s start brewing."
