Chapter 75: Alchemy [ 3 ]

A couple more days had passed, and now, Xuan could brew a potion of at least 90% purity. Intermediate potions were the same, as they were not that much more difficult.

However, after he began with the pills, he had immediately realized how much easier they were.

All he had to do was add ingredients into the cauldron, and then, using his Qi, he melted them down and compressed them all. Of course, Huizhen told him to use Spiritual Qi, but because of his curiosity, Xuan went ahead and used Void Qi instead.

And the result?

<Mind Cleansing Pill>

<Rank: Mortal>

<Pill Purity: 99%>

<Description: A medicinal pill refined to purge mental impurities and lingering distractions. When consumed, it clears the mind, stabilizes emotions, and enhances focus for cultivation. Due to high Pill Purity, cultivation speed increases by 10% for 24 hours.>

"This is..." Huizhen took a step back. "This is your first try...? It’s an intermediate-level pill too... Just how?"

"Some might say I’m a little special." Xuan puffed his chest. "On that note, was it supposed to be this easy? I mean... it barely required any effort, and I got something this good."

"No, it’s not," Huizhen replied sternly. "Pill alchemy is the hardest... And yet you made it easy. I don’t want to toot your horn here, but this is incredible."

Xuan rubbed the back of his head, slightly embarrassed.

"Well, if you say so. Still, it’s a little too early to say, don’t you think? Maybe I can only do this once, yeah?"

<Qi Nourishing Pill>

<Rank: Mortal>

<Pill Purity: 99%>

<Description: Refines and supplements Qi within the Dantian, accelerating recovery after prolonged cultivation or combat. Due to high Pill Purity, 50% more Qi is supplemented.>

<Blood Vitality Pill>

<Rank: Mortal>

<Pill Purity: 99%>

<Description: Stimulates blood circulation and restores vitality. Useful for treating internal injuries, blood loss, and fatigue. Due to high Pill Purity, the pill’s effects linger for 24 hours.>

"..."

"..."

"I yield," Huizhen stated, slumping down on the ground. "99% pill purity for a beginner... The Blood Vitality Pill is intermediate too... Just what are you?"

Xuan chuckled. "If it makes you feel any better, I had to slightly focus on the Blood Vitality Pill. The ingredients didn’t seem to mix that well at first."

"It took me five years to successfully brew my first intermediate-level pill..." Huizhen mumbled. "Even if it’s Mortal-ranked, it’s beyond impressive. Honestly, I think I trust you enough with the pills, so we can move onto the poisons."

He pointed to the side at a couple of green potions.

"Those weren’t that bad, but with pills, I believe you can make them better."

Standing up, he gave Xuan a nod.

"I have to leave for a few hours. The nine disciples we were going to send up to the Lower Heavens... I must prepare them."

Noticing his eerie tone, Xuan tilted his head. "Are you going to feed them the Blood Parasites?"

Huizhen nodded slowly. "They will be called to meet Chen Shun, and he will have dinner with them. It’s my job to prepare the food, and... Don’t worry about them, in a world so cruel, pitying those you don’t even know is not worth it."

"Don’t worry about me, I’m not that naive," Xuan replied. "Rather, these nine are from this world, right?"

"Indeed. They seemed promising, so we used pills and potions to nourish them to Spirit Master." Huizhen approached the door, opening it slightly. He turned his head slightly, giving Xuan a slightly worried look.

"Try your best, but make sure to try your best faster."

With those words, he exited the alchemy pavilion, leaving Xuan behind, alone.

But in truth, Xuan had been waiting for this moment for the last couple of weeks.

Quickly tossing a few ingredients into the cauldron, Xuan swiftly melted them with his Void Qi, and then converted them into pitch-black pills.

11 seconds this time... That’s much faster than traditional alchemy, Xuan thought, and inspected the pill.

<Venom Core Pill>

<Rank: Mortal>

<Pill Purity: 99%>

<Description: A dense, black pill that releases a corrosive venom. The toxin targets muscle fibers and connective tissue, inducing violent cramps and internal hemorrhaging. Due to high Pill Purity, the toxin now attacks the Dantian as well. Activation occurs within 12 breaths.>

"Looks good enough to me." Xuan smirked, and without an ounce of hesitation, he popped the pill into his mouth, swallowing it.

Nothing happened at first, and only after he took 12 breaths did the effects start to show.

However, unlike what the description said, Xuan felt a soothing sensation spread throughout his body, almost as if he had just eaten the most fulfilling meal in the world.

And as expected, his idea paid off.

<Venom Core Pill has been consumed!>

<Boundless Void Physique has neutralized the toxin...>

<+8,952,588 Spiritual Qi>

"Hmm... I didn’t get it?" Xuan wondered, and then made another pill, then another.

Eventually, he had consumed 9 pills, and with only a couple more ingredients left for this type of pill, Xuan was starting to lose hope.

But when he put the last pill into his mouth, Xuan’s eyes lit up in excitement.

<Venom Core Pill has been consumed!>

<Boundless Void Physique has neutralized the toxin...>

<+9,298,274 Spiritual Qi>

<You have absorbed Poison Qi!>

<The Boundless Void Physique has filtered the Poison Qi!>

<New Qi Type unlocked: Poison Qi>

"Pfft... Hahaha! Fucking finally," Xuan exclaimed, excited. He had thought it would be possible because of how he absorbed Demonic Qi, and he was right.

Now, just like Demonic Qi, I can absorb Poison Qi from anything.

And of course, this new Qi type would strengthen his Void Qi.

So now, not only did he have Time Qi, Space Qi, Death Qi, and Demonic Qi merged into Void Qi, but also Poison Qi.

My guess is, my attacks would poison people. That’s a fun thing to think about...

[Poison Qi - Beginner - 7.82%]

And it doesn’t even seem that hard to raise.

Xuan had decided.

He was going to send a certain someone a text, and right after that, he would spend the remainder of his time in the alchemy pavilion making poisons and absorbing them.
