Chapter 31: [31] The Silverleaf Syndicate

The entire Ebon Citadel shook violently.

The Realm-Breaker Engine roared to life!

The massive floating fortress tore straight through the fabric of the Apex Realm. It bypassed thousands of miles of heavily fortified airspace in a single, reality-bending leap.

When the blinding flash of dark spatial energy faded, the Ebon Citadel hung suspended in the sky.

It cast a colossal shadow over the beating financial heart of the multiverse.

The Silverleaf Capital.

Arthur Sterling stood on the command deck. His hands were casually tucked into the pockets of his pristine dark coat.

The bridge was quiet. Aurelia was down in the courtyards, relentlessly drilling the new shadow-guard. Deep below deck, Sylvia and Morwenna were already stationed at the Citadel’s primary reactor, waiting to breach the city’s vaults the second the shields dropped. That left only Lyra on the bridge with him.

Through the massive glass window, the city below was a sickening display of arrogant wealth.

Towering skyscrapers forged entirely from polished diamond and starlight metal pierced the clouds. Levitating rivers of pure liquid mana flowed upward in glowing spirals to feed the luxurious mansions of the Apex elites.

It was a metropolis built on the broken backs of mortals.

To the ruling families, it was a paradise. To Arthur, it was a severely bloated asset waiting to be liquidated.

Lyra stood beside him. Her small frame trembled slightly.

The Stardusk rogue stared down at the glittering city with wide violet eyes.

This was the place that had birthed her. The exact same place that betrayed her and hunted her like a dog!

She had spent her entire life running from the shadow of the Silverleaf Syndicate. Now, she was looking down at them from the bridge of an impregnable warship.

She was standing beside a man who wore the power of a God.

Arthur pulled his right hand from his pocket. He held a small runic detonator hardwired directly into the primary artillery arrays of the Citadel.

He didn’t press it. He just held it out to her.

"They took everything from you, didn’t they?" Arthur asked. His baritone voice was a low rumble.

Lyra swallowed hard. Her eyes tore away from the city to look at the detonator.

"They slaughtered my family. They branded me a thief for taking back what was mine. They own this sector, Arthur. You don’t just attack the Silverleaf Capital."

"I do," Arthur corrected gently.

He stepped closer. His towering frame provided an absolute anchor of safety for her.

"You work for me now, Lyra. I don’t just pay my employees in system points and divine weapons. I pay them in blood."

He pressed the cold metal of the detonator into her trembling palm.

"Light them up."

A fierce breath escaped Lyra’s lips.

The fear in her violet eyes evaporated and was instantly replaced by a vindictive euphoria! She wrapped her fingers around the device and hovered her thumb over the primary rune.

"Severance package approved," Lyra whispered.

She pressed the button.

"Boom!"

The Ebon Citadel unleashed hell!

Hundreds of massive pitch-black cannons lined the underbelly of the floating island. They were powered by the hyper-refined energy of Arthur’s reactor.

A rain of highly concentrated energy descended upon the city!

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The vaunted defense arrays of the city shattered like cheap glass!

Those golden barriers had stood untested for ten thousand years. Now they flickered, hissed, and violently collapsed under the heavy bombardment.

Explosions blossomed across the diamond skyscrapers. Thousands of tons of molten debris rained down into the pristine streets.

Alarms shrieked loudly!

The arrogant elites of the Silverleaf Syndicate ran screaming through the courtyards. Their lavish silk robes caught fire as the Ebon Citadel systematically gutted their paradise.

But Arthur didn’t just watch.

He stepped forward and placed his hand flat against the glass of the window. He completely unleashed the Supreme War-God Aura he had harvested from Aurelia’s training sessions!

A suffocating, invisible pressure dropped over the burning city. It was the conceptual weight of absolute defeat.

Down in the streets, thousands of lower-tier Silverleaf guards and elite enforcers suddenly froze. Their eyes rolled back into their heads.

"Thud! Thud! Thud!"

They collapsed onto the pristine marble!

They passed out from sheer terror before they could even draw their weapons. The War-God Aura didn’t just demoralize them, it fundamentally severed their will to fight.

As the defense arrays shattered and the city’s stockpiles cracked open, the crisp sound of the system chimed in Arthur’s mind.

[Ding!]

[Supreme War-God Aura active. Enemy combat efficiency reduced to 0 percent.]

[Host is standing within the epicenter of shattered high-tier arrays and exposed treasuries.]

[10,000x ROI Multiplier Activated on ambient wealth absorption!]

[Converting raw Apex currency, shattered divine crystals, and ambient energy directly into System Points...]

↳ [+15,000,000 System Points!]

↳ [+22,000,000 System Points!]

Arthur’s dark eyes gleamed as the numbers skyrocketed.

It was the ultimate hostile takeover. He wasn’t just destroying the competition.

He was actively monetizing their destruction!

The sheer volume of energy rushing into his system was intoxicating.

In the midst of the flashing red alarms and the glow of the burning city below, Lyra turned to him.

She dropped the detonator. Tears of overwhelming catharsis streamed down her face.

She realized in that exact moment that Arthur wasn’t just using her. He was a monster, but he was her monster. He rewarded loyalty with a sheer vengeance that the Heavens could never offer.

Lyra launched herself forward!

Instead of a dignified bow or a salute, she threw her arms around Arthur’s neck, tackling him in a desperate, fiercely possessive hug.

She buried her face directly into his chest, trembling with pure gratitude.

Arthur blinked, entirely caught off guard. His large hands hovered awkwardly in the air for a second.

He was a ruthless corporate liquidator who crushed Gods for a living.....he didn’t do fucking hugs.

But before the moment could deepen, the air on the command bridge violently warped.

"Crack!"

The space ten feet behind them literally folded inward! It tore open like a sheet of paper.

Stepping out from the spatial rift was an older man clad in shimmering silver-threaded combat robes. His eyes burned with blind rage.

He was the Silverleaf Patriarch. He was the brother of the Divine King Arthur had slaughtered back at the Vanguard Bastion!

"You dare?!" the Patriarch roared. His voice echoed with the crushing weight of a Master of Spatial Laws. "You bring a floating rock to my city?! You slaughter my people?!"

Arthur slowly pulled away from Lyra. He tucked her safely behind his broad back.

He turned to face the seething Patriarch with a mild look of annoyance.

"I didn’t bring a rock," Arthur corrected smoothly as he adjusted the cuffs of his dark coat. "I brought an eviction notice."

"I will fold you into a singularity!" the Patriarch shrieked.

He slammed his hands together in a complex series of hand signs!

The air around Arthur instantly solidified. He didn’t even have time to draw the Ebonheart Sword. The physical space encompassing his towering frame was violently boxed in.

The command bridge vanished from his sight. It was replaced by an infinitely looping void of geometric lines and shifting gravity.

He was trapped in a Tesseract!

The Patriarch’s booming laughter echoed from all directions at once.

"You are trapped in the endless fold! Your body will be crushed by infinite atmospheric pressure! Die!"

Arthur stood perfectly still in the center of the shifting spatial box.

He didn’t panic. He just sighed and rolled his neck.

"You spatial types," Arthur muttered. His voice was laced with utter boredom. "You actually think you are safe....with me in a box."
