Infinite Train Survival Apocalypse (But I'm a Girl Now?!)
Chapter 48: Slash!
Bai Cheng knew exactly what the detection desk’s alarm meant.
It only had one function: to detect whether another train existed within a ten-kilometer radius!
Bai Cheng’s gaze sharpened. "A train is coming?"
They were exactly ten kilometers away from the station. Was the other party already inside?
Are they other survivors...? No, it can only be Infinite Raiders.
Beside her, Chi Yan immediately responded in a low voice, "Young Lady, a train is heading straight for us!"
Hearing this, Bai Cheng swiftly turned her gaze out the window. In the distance, a steam locomotive spewing thick black smoke was speeding toward them along the tracks.
At this moment, she had no time to wonder how the enemy could control the train’s direction. All she knew was that if this continued, the two trains would inevitably collide!
The enemy’s train had three carriages in total, the same amount as the Infinite Raiders’ train that she had encountered at Station One.
But this train showed no signs of decay, only a slight appearance of wear.
Moreover, the front of the locomotive was reinforced with thick armor, and it was about to ram directly into the side of Bai Cheng’s train!
Even if the two employees were of Elite Rank strength, she doubted that they could stop a speeding train head-on.
So, Bai Cheng’s first instinct was to start the train and try to evade the collision. Everything else could be dealt with later.
She wasn’t afraid of the enemy. She was only worried about the train taking damage.
Chi Yan remained still. Inside the train, he had naturally taken on the role of protecting Bai Cheng and the train’s safety.
As for eliminating the enemy, that was Zi Yuan’s job on the roof.
Meanwhile, on the approaching train, a group of people stood on the front exterior walkway.
One of them was holding binoculars, and she could already see the motionless train in the distance.
A smirk curled her lips. "Brother Wen, you’re right! That idiot still hasn’t noticed us!"
The man behind her replied with a tone of smug disdain, "Heh, of course not. If they have a detection desk, they wouldn’t have reached the station so quickly."
Honestly, if the other party had hidden inside the station, they would’ve had no way to deal with them.
The others chimed in eagerly:
"Damn right! But we got lucky. We were just planning to gather some supplies on the outskirts and wait for prey. Never thought someone would deliver themselves to us so soon!"
"I remember team functions unlock after entering Muddy Swamp. If she’s parked before the station, she’s probably waiting for teammates!"
The fourth member of the group spoke up, unable to hide his excitement.
"Hahaha! If that’s the case, we don’t mind waiting a bit longer!"
Laughter filled the air as they dismissed their opponent entirely.
The man called Brother Wen was the conductor of this train. Clenching his fist, he sneered, "Kill them, and we can upgrade our carriages!"
"That way, we’ll grow stronger—strong enough to eventually break through the station and leave this hellhole!"
Behind the four, six employees stood ready inside the carriage.
Aside from a seemingly dim-witted wild bull, the rest were all humanoid, exuding an eerie, sinister aura.
Suddenly, the woman with the binoculars gasped. "Huh? She might’ve spotted us, but..."
"What? Did the train move?" Brother Wen frowned and immediately turned to return to the control room to adjust their course.
But before he could move, the woman spoke again.
"The train’s not moving... but there’s a girl standing on the roof, staring straight at us. She’s definitely seen us."
With that, the woman quickly lowered the binoculars. The other party’s icy glare had sent a shiver down her spine, and she didn’t dare to meet those eyes again.
A sense of unease prickled at her. However, she couldn’t explain why.
Hearing this, the other three remained indifferent, but Brother Wen and another man exchanged sinister grins.
"A girl, huh? Gehehe..."
The maximum distance between them was only 10 km. At full speed, the collision would happen in five minutes.
Bai Cheng didn’t dare to waste a single second. She yanked the control lever.
The train needed time to accelerate. She wasn’t sure if even five minutes would be enough.
Although the train slowly began moving, Bai Cheng’s heart still pounded.
Then, she realized that the enemy had also sped up.
Their train’s top speed is higher than 60 km/h!
In other words, the collision would happen even sooner than five minutes.
"Move, damn piece of scrap!" Bai Cheng was genuinely panicking now.
Beside her, Chi Yan focused entirely, preparing for battle.
"Young Lady, when the time comes, I’ll get you out of the impact. The train’s durability should be able to withstand the collision."
Hearing this, Bai Cheng’s heart sank further.
This meant that Chi Yan had already judged that her train couldn’t evade the crash and their only option was to endure it.
Bai Cheng checked the time again in desperation:[14:56].
Only four minutes remained until Silent Night, but it’s still too late!
And even if night fell, there was no guarantee if the tree trunks could stop the enemy’s reinforced locomotive.
Bai Cheng looked out the window again. The incoming train rapidly expanded in her vision, now almost upon them! 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Yet her own train was barely moving at 20 km/h. Based on the trajectory, the enemy would smash directly into the rear carriage.
At this moment, Zi Yuan opened her eyes on top of the roof.
Watching the approaching train, she slowly rose to her feet.
Her blade left its sheath, glinting coldly in the twilight. The exquisitely carved hawk pattern on it now glowed with scorching purple energy.
Zi Yuan bent her knees slightly, assuming a horse stance while holding her blade horizontally with her left hand.
At that instant, the surrounding air stilled, as if time itself had frozen.
Her blue eyes peered past the blade, locking onto the incoming train.
Taking a deep breath, she raised her right hand and firmly gripped her left wrist.
The moment the train approached, she moved.
Thump—!
As Zi Yuan charged upwards, the roof caved in from the terrifying explosive power, and a deafening sound echoed.
[Durability -6%!]
Bai Cheng jolted inside the train. Even the Infinite Raiders on the opposing train froze in shock.
In the next second, Zi Yuan descended like a meteor. A piercing screech of steel reverberated as a colossal purple blade slashed toward the enemy train.
Huum—
White line flashed across the entire iron behemoth, cleanly splitting it in two!
