Infinite Train Survival Apocalypse (But I'm a Girl Now?!)
Chapter 52: Yu Nian’s Talent
Are we not sisters!?
You can’t mistake me for someone else just because we haven’t seen each other in a few days, right?
Zi Yuan’s face also showed surprise. She glanced at Bai Cheng and said, "Young Lady, your hat..."
Bai Cheng froze for a moment before realizing.
Her baseball cap had the effect of making people instinctively overlook her, which was why Yu Nian had mistaken her identity.
Of course, Bai Cheng was more inclined to blame the dim lighting, and the fact that Yu Nian had only heard her voice and couldn’t clearly make out her facial features.
Otherwise, even if the hat made people overlook her, it shouldn’t have been enough for someone who knew her well to mistake someone else for her.
Bai Cheng quickly took off her hat, and Yu Nian’s eyes widened in shock.
"Huh?"
"Little Cheng, did you get plastic surgery?"
"...I’m right here," Bai Cheng said flatly.
"Little Cheng!" Yu Nian pounced on her again, hugging her tightly.
The overwhelming pressure of a Destroyer was too much. Bai Cheng could barely breathe under the crushing embrace.
But damn, she’s really soft.
Bai Cheng struggled free and placed both hands on Yu Nian’s shoulders, scrutinizing her before frowning.
"What the hell is this outfit?!"
"Huh?" Yu Nian looked down. "Oh!"
Then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, she said, "It’s for trading, of course! It’s the key to my fortune!"
"No," Bai Cheng rolled her eyes. "Where did you even get so many socks and... underwear?"
"Talent! I used my Talent!"
She looked smug before giving a brief explanation.
In short, her Talent was ’Item Restoration’. She could take broken fragments of any object to create a restored copy of its original form.
However, the Talent had limitations. For example, she couldn’t restore system-processed materials like iron ore or coal. The same went for consumables like food and water.
Her Talent leaned more toward tools and equipment. Additionally, the higher the grade or rarity of an item, the longer it took to restore.
As for why she had so many socks, it was because she had cut up her own pair, broken them down, and then used her Talent to duplicate them.
And the reason she chose clothes was because restoring them had almost no cooldown.
The absurd part was that there was actually a market for this.
Bai Cheng was stunned. Yu Nian’s Talent was completely different from her Book of Cheng, but there was no denying that it was just as powerful.
No wonder she’s the first place in her channel...
This was also the first time Bai Cheng had heard of and interacted with another survivor’s Talent.
Her emotions were complicated. It wasn’t jealousy over how strong Yu Nian’s Talent was, but rather the realization that other survivors with Talents were likely terrifyingly powerful.
If that’s the case, wouldn’t all these Pioneers be elites?
With ten channels merged, there had to be at least ten survivors who were one-in-ten-thousand geniuses.
"What are you thinking about?" Yu Nian waved a hand in front of her face. "Little Cheng, you still haven’t told me what your Talent is!"
Bai Cheng snapped out of her daze, her gaze flickering to Chi Yan and Zi Yuan before she smiled and said word:
"Enhancement."
"Enhancement?" Yu Nian didn’t seem too impressed. Instead, she followed Bai Cheng’s line of sight and studied Chi Yan and Zi Yuan.
"So, who are they? New teammates?"
She bit her finger, as if deep in thought. "I could’ve sworn..."
"They’re my employees. Enhanced employees," Bai Cheng quickly explained.
"Whaaat!?" Yu Nian dragged out the word in shock. "Why is my employee just a grass-eating water buffalo, dammit?!"
She hadn’t brought her employee into the station for that very reason. A water buffalo was practically useless to her.
The two hadn’t seen each other in so long, and now, they were reunited in another world. Naturally, they had endless things to talk about.
As they explored the station together, Chi Yan and Zi Yuan silently took on the role of bodyguards.
"By the way, what is this thing?"
Bai Cheng stopped in the center of the hall, staring at the black robe on the ground and the massive black scythe beside it.
Her gaze, however, was mainly on her two employees. Since they were native magical beasts, they might know something about this unknown creature.
But Chi Yan and Zi Yuan exchanged glances before shaking their heads.
"Young Lady, I’ve never seen such a creature before, but its death energy is extremely dense. It must be a type of undead creature," Chi Yan said.
Zi Yuan, on the other hand, crouched down, picked up the black robe, and sniffed it.
After a moment, she frowned. "Young Lady, this isn’t a living creature."
Bai Cheng was taken aback. Beside her, Yu Nian voiced her own theory.
"Little Cheng, I think it’s more like a station boss, something the system set up to test survivors."
She continued, "When I first entered the hall, I noticed that something was off and immediately tried to run back to the train. But then it stopped moving, so I guessed that it’s related to the lighting."
Yu Nian turned on her flashlight and shone it around.
Bai Cheng didn’t comment. She hadn’t expected her best friend to be this sharp.
"Young Lady, it’s powered by the death energy lingering in its body. The source is likely this castle itself," Zi Yuan said as she stood up, casually picking up the black scythe.
Bai Cheng suddenly understood. "Then..."
"Young Lady, the quality of this weapon is exceptional."
Hearing Zi Yuan’s words, Bai Cheng’s brows rose. "So it’s a reward? Take it with us!"
Although she had no idea what a scythe like this could be used for, she would take it anyway.
Despite the wall lamps illuminating the hall, the vast, lifeless space remained oppressively dark.
With the beam of the flashlight, Bai Cheng and Yu Nian searched the entire floor but found no screens, let alone functional facilities like vending machines.
This station was eerie, sinister, and dangerous. Was there really no resources at all?
Well, except for the ghastly white skeleton throne at the end of the red carpet.
And the path that might lead upstairs was right beside it.
The four of them approached the arched doorway, drawing closer to the throne.
Bai Cheng felt a chill. Or perhaps it was just her own imagination?
Beneath the throne lay a pile of shattered bones. The armrests and backrest were embedded with complete skulls, their hollow eye sockets fixed on them, sending an involuntary shiver down their spines.
Yu Nian was so spooked that she clutched Bai Cheng’s hand tightly, her voice trembling. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"What the hell is this thing?! It’s freaking me out!"
Bai Cheng immediately shot Chi Yan a look. He stepped forward, and his flaming fist smashed down with brutal force.
BOOM!
The bones shattered, and the throne collapsed.
But then, a strange blueprint fluttered down, landing right in front of them.
