Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Farewell (Bonus Chapter)

Whoosh!

A fierce gust of wind erupted, scattering the snow on the ground and tousling Leng Ningxue’s blue hair, causing her pupils to constrict.

In the blink of an eye, the two employees behind Bai Cheng seemed to have vanished, moving at an impossible speed.

By the time Leng Ningxue reacted and looked ahead, the heads of the fleeing survivors had already been severed by a flash of sharp purple sword light.

Their heads flew off, rolling across the ground as blood gushed out. Then, their bodies collapsed, staining the pristine white snow crimson.

None of them even had time to scream!

Meanwhile, the tall, burly figure with fiery red hair effortlessly grabbed one survivor after another, knocking them unconscious with a single strike.

Then, he tossed the remaining survivors over, their bodies crashing onto the snow not far from Leng Ningxue.

She stared in shock, turning to Bai Cheng. "This is...?"

"Oh," Bai Cheng replied casually, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, "your trophies. You finish them."

As they spoke, Zi Yuan swiftly dealt with the remaining employees of the survivors.

From the moment they struck to the complete annihilation of every survivor present, the entire ordeal took less than ten seconds.

Leng Ningxue was utterly stunned. Her ice-blue eyes widened in disbelief.

She had known that Bai Cheng was strong, but this was beyond anything she had imagined!

No wonder Bai Cheng had been so indifferent toward Tang Yan. With this kind of power, of course she wouldn’t care!

And here she was, thinking she could mediate between them...

"Young Lady." Zi Yuan approached, her overwhelming aura making Leng Ningxue’s two employees shrink back in fear.

"Mm." Bai Cheng hummed in acknowledgment. Noticing that Leng Ningxue was still frozen in shock, she waved a hand in front of her face.

"What’s wrong?"

"N-Nothing." Leng Ningxue snapped out of her daze and glanced at the unconscious survivors sprawled on the ground. She quickly shook her head. "You defeated them. I didn’t even do anything. They should be yours."

Of course, Bai Cheng refused.

She could tell that even if they hadn’t met and she hadn’t intervened, these four pursuers wouldn’t have been a match for Leng Ningxue.

Moreover, judging by the frozen state of their train, it was clear that they didn’t have a heating stove. Their fate was already sealed.

Either their engine would run out of fuel, or they would freeze to death.

Even if Leng Ningxue avoided direct combat, she could have easily worn them down and killed them without much effort.

Under Bai Cheng’s insistence, Leng Ningxue finally ordered her employees to finish off the survivors.

She repeatedly thanked Bai Cheng, her politeness almost excessive.

Even though Bai Cheng kept emphasizing that she had just helped on a whim.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Bai Cheng suddenly remembered the blue backpack in her hand and held it out. "Here, this is for you."

The moment Leng Ningxue saw the faint golden glow emanating from the backpack, she immediately refused. "A legendary item?! No, no, I can’t accept something like this!"

"See, you’re doing it again," Bai Cheng raised an eyebrow. "Just take it. Consider it a thank-you gift for the information you shared."

"But this is too valuable!"

The most valuable item Leng Ningxue had ever seen was Epic grade. Legendary items were beyond her imagination.

Even if this was just an ordinary looking backpack, she couldn’t bring herself to accept it.

This time, her refusal was even firmer than before.

Bai Cheng sighed. Suddenly, she grabbed Leng Ningxue’s wrist and pulled her toward her own train.

"Huh?" Leng Ningxue stumbled in surprise, letting herself be dragged along.

Then, they stopped in front of the train door, and Bai Cheng flung it open.

Instantly, a dazzling golden light burst forth. Rows upon rows of legendary items gleamed brilliantly, their radiance nearly blinding Leng Ningxue.

At that moment, she felt like a beggar who had been thrown into a vault filled with gold bars.

She was stunned—no, this was even more shocking than before.

Her voice trembled. "B-Bai Cheng... you... I..."

"See? I have plenty of legendary items. This backpack means nothing to me." Bai Cheng shoved the backpack into her hands.

Leng Ningxue stood frozen, the silence between them deafening.

Bai Cheng added with a smirk, "If you don’t take it, we’re no longer friends."

"I-I’ll take it!" Leng Ningxue took a step back and bowed deeply. "Thank you, Bai Cheng!"

"I should be thanking you." Bai Cheng hadn’t expected such a serious reaction.

She distinctly remembered Yu Nian not being this shocked when she saw her legendary items.

...Was Yu Nian just too dumb?

Meanwhile, far away on a distant station, a certain pink-haired girl sneezed violently.

"Who the hell is badmouthing me?!"

Bai Cheng had entered the station at night. After all the commotion, dawn had already broken.

She chatted with Leng Ningxue for a while longer, shared a breakfast together, and then they both returned to their respective trains to sort through their loot.

When Bai Cheng saw the list of loot on the screen, she couldn’t help but sigh.

Compared to the survivors inside the station, these pursuers were downright pitiful.

They had nothing of value, and their supplies had been completely exhausted.

All their resources had been converted into fuel to stave off the cold.

The only remotely valuable things were the cotton coats, which had cost several hundred Infinite Coins.

"What a waste." Bai Cheng sighed and handed all the coats back to Yu Nian.

At least they still had the guaranteed train core drops. Those were the real prizes.

Bai Cheng also guessed that Leng Ningxue hadn’t eliminated all the survivors when she cleared the station, so these supplies were still useful to her.

After organizing everything, Bai Cheng turned her attention back to the detection panel.

[Current Region: Frigid Snowy Mountains]

[Current Status: None]

[Distance to Next Station: 2,939 km]

"The distance hasn’t increased?" Bai Cheng mused. "Is it because Treewood Town is a special station?"

Not that she minded. This saved her some fuel.

She had already gathered everything she needed from the Frigid Snowy Mountains. Her stockpile of coal and charcoal was more than enough to reach the next station without stopping.

"The next part of the journey will be pretty boring..."

"Bai Cheng!" Leng Ningxue’s voice suddenly called from outside.

Bai Cheng stepped out to find her holding an ice-blue crystal, which she promptly shoved into Bai Cheng’s hands.

"This is an ice element core. Using it will give your train car a food preservation effect, and nothing will ever rot." Leng Ningxue explained. "It’s different from the ones found in the wild. Those only work like refrigerators. This one is made using my ability. It’s for you!"

She pressed her lips together, her cheeks slightly flushed.

Bai Cheng didn’t refuse this time and accepted it cheerfully.

Leng Ningxue continued, "I’m going to complete my trophy mission now."

She had come to say goodbye.

Bai Cheng nodded. "Be careful."

"I will. See you at the next station."

Leng Ningxue waved and returned to her train.

Bai Cheng watched until the other party’s train disappeared from sight before finally going back inside her train.

However, she didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she took out the passes she had obtained earlier and examined it.
