The person who was calling him was none other than Kate. This was kind of unexpected to Michael, as she was calling him with her own number.

Despite the surprise, he still received the call, "Hey, have they given you another break already?"

"No, they did not, but they gave us the permission to call those that we care about. But of course, there are restrictions." Kate responded.

"Oh, I see. And by the way, how are things there? Did everything go well?" Michael asked as he nodded.

"About that, thank you. Everything went well, and there are a lot of questions that I would like to ask, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Anyway, I hope that when I come back to see you, I will be able to know more about you." Kate said gratefully.

"I already know what you want to ask, but don’t worry, I will definitely give you some answers. While I cannot promise to tell you everything, I will definitely make you understand some of the things that might be troubling you." Michael said in return.

He of course had no any intention of prevailing anything regarding the system. So, he thought, he might as well use the information that he had on mutants and the mutation serums, to cover up for this.

As long as he claimed that his uncle had managed to procure some of those high level serums, and was able to make the arrangement so that she could be injected with the serums, all this could be dealt with.

The two of them then went ahead and chatted with each other, and this time, it seemed that Kate had a lot of things to say.

So, for most of the conversation, Michael was listening, while Kate talked. Eventually, about half an hour later, Kate seemed to remember something else she said, "Ah?! I actually forgot! We were only given 30 minutes to make a call, and I spent all of it on you!"

"Regretting it now?" Michael asked, amused.

"Oh? No, I guess? Anyway, since I cannot contact my mom right now, I hope that you will let her know that I’m okay. And by the way, I might be able to come back during the next month. As for the exact date, I’m not really sure, as we have not been told yet." Kate responded, at first unsure, before she continued nonchalantly.

But even then, Michael could feel that in her voice, there was both disappointment and anticipation. He could guess what might have caused those emotions, but he did not say them out loud.

Instead, he promised, "Don’t worry, that is something that I can do. Anyway, your cousin, Raymond, he will be coming over today. So, I can let him know, and he will let your mother know about it."

"Why don’t you just go and tell my mom directly? Don’t tell me, are you perhaps afraid of meeting my mom?" Kate asked, her voice full of teasing.

Michael was left momentarily speechless, before he finally responded, "Why would I be afraid of your mom? Anyway, it is not as if we are getting married tomorrow, right? So, in case there really is a need for me to meet her, I definitely will."

Kate was silent for a while, before she responded, "You know, I don’t really mind if we get married tomorrow. It is just that I cannot get out of this place for now, and I will have to wait until next month.

But anyway, prepare yourself, when I come back, you should give me a response about that issue."

Immediately after she said those words, she ended the car, leaving Michael speechless.

In the end, Michael could only shake his head at that, with a slight smile appearing on his lips.

Danvill city, inside a villa...

"Tell me clearly, what happened?" A man with short blonde hair with strips of grey, asked a young man was lying on the bed, his hand wrapped in bandages.

As he asked that question, he’s old face was twisted, as rage could be seen in his eyes.

The young man who was lying on the bed, upon hearing the question from the old man, felt his entire body tense. But even then, he managed to respond, "That kid, he is definitely not normal. Most probably, he might be a mutant."

"I told you that you should tell me clearly what happened. I don’t want to hear your speculations about someone, but I want you to tell me clearly what really occurred!" The old man insisted, his voice filled with impatience.

Ethan no longer dared to hide anything, and immediately revealed everything that had happened when he went to Brenton city to his uncle.

This old man that was questioning him, was the current leader of the Blood Reapers Syndicate.

Amos did not have any children, and therefore, he ended up supporting Ethan. It was not that he liked Ethan, it was just that he did not want the power of the syndicate to be held by someone else apart from someone from the Wesley family.

That was exactly why he was doing everything that he could, in order to make sure that Ethan managed to become the next leader of the syndicate.

Previously, he had already made a plan on how to deal with Brian, secretly of course, but something happened. It was an unexpected occurrence, which was quite beneficial to him.

But of course, he was unwilling to have a member of the Blood Reapers syndicate die just like that. It was going to tarnish the reputation of the syndicate, and if left unpunished, eventually, other people might try doing the same.

Yes, Amos did not like Nathan and his son Brian, but that was something that was supposed to be dealt with by the syndicate itself. When was it the turn of those outsiders to deal with the members of the syndicate?

So, after he managed to obtain the information of what had happened, even though it was not yet clear, he immediately took action.

At first, he was planning to send some people over to cause trouble for Michael. But eventually, the events that happened with Bob made him change his mind.

So, he went ahead and paid quite a good amount of money to the death shadow organization, so that they could send an assassin to deal with Michael.

Unexpectedly, the previous day, someone suddenly came looking for him. From that person, he learned that the mission had failed, and it was because he had given false information.

At that time, Amos was forced to pay more money, despite the mission that he had given having not been completed. So, he suffered quite some huge losses.

It was only when he came back but he realized that his nephew had been injured. But because he was busy, he did not have the time to meet with him, and only met him today.

Even though he had so many concerns, he was so frustrated by what this nephew of him had done. Of course, he had heard what had happened from some of the people that had accompanied Ethan to Brenton city.

But, he felt that those guys might hide something from him. That was why he wanted to hear things directly from Ethan.

Ethan went ahead and revealed everything that had happened, including the plan that he had on the acquisition of Sky Technologies, all the way to him being shot by Michael.

Upon hearing Ethan’s recount of the events that have happened, Amos was silent for quite a while. Eventually, he let out a helpless sigh.

"No matter what happens, don’t try going after him. I will try to look for another method in order to deal with him, but you are prohibited from leaving the capital.

In fact, you are not allowed to leave your residence, until I have dealt with that brat." Amos eventually said. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"What? I’m grounded? Bu-" Ethan immediately disagreed. He could not accept this.

But he was not able to finish what he was saying when the old man interrupted him, "Are you trying to go against a mutant? And this mutant is one that even a high level mutant from the death shadow organization failed to deal with him.

You are quite lucky that you came back. So for the time being, you are not allowed to go looking for him, otherwise, things might get out of control.

You came alive this time, but it might not happen again the next time that you go looking for trouble with him. So, if you value your life so much, do as I said."

Immediately after saying those words, Amos did not give Ethan a chance to say anything, as he immediately left. As for the dumbfounded and shocked expression on Ethan’s face, he did not bother to say anything about it.

Previously, Ethan had claimed that there was a possibility that Michael might be a mutant. But of course, that was just an excuse that he was giving.

Unexpectedly, he was told by Amos that Michael was actually a mutant. And more than that, he was quite shocked that his uncle had actually sent an assassin after Michael.

As for why his uncle had done that, Ethan was not sure. Regardless, he understood, at this point, he was really lucky. So, he decided, unless he heard the news that Michael had been dealt with, he would definitely not leave his villa.
